Dion1st Posted February 18, 2012 at 05:04 AM Posted February 18, 2012 at 05:04 AM also, to be perfectly blunt, what does celine even know about drug use in the industry? would she like to enlighten us as to the way it works? or is she just an ignorant bystander criticizing a culture she knows nothing about...? quote Are you freakin serious??? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------quote: pop stars do drugs because of the incredible pressure put on them by the record companies to live their lives under the constant media spotlight, to watch everything they do for signs of negative messaging, etc. it's also tough to have to go through endless touring that puts strain on your vocal and emotional health. if only people like celine could help us to understand how whitney's drug use was connected to the way the record biz raised her to such a high pedestal...that maybe for whitney, drug use was her only way to reclaim her ability to live freely and without the anxiety of always trying to be best. quote-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And can you imagine the outcry and attacks on Celine by people like you if she even dared to try to explain to the world how WH's drug use was connected to the record biz. Besides, if you read your words maybe you have explained WH's problem with drugs all on your own. Celine has no business nor any responsibility to explain to the world how or why WH got involved or used drugs and suffered because of them. The ONLY person who could have done that DIED last Saturday! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------, but then again, celine doesn't have a clue what she's talking about here because, as she said "she doesn't do parties."----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Again, are you freakin serious??? It feels obvious that you are here for one reason. I'm finished. beautyroses Posted February 18, 2012 at 07:35 AM Posted February 18, 2012 at 07:35 AM I see that there is a big controversy in the net or other places about what Celine have said, I myself think that Celine was right, when the reason is not told yet, it means there is something wrong with that. but what I think is that Celine should be more careful when she is making an opinion, it was not an appropriate moment to say those things, maybe she should have waited for a better time to say these Quote http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac137/Venus_1982/new1.jpgAngel of My World[/i]
Duchess Posted February 18, 2012 at 08:46 AM Posted February 18, 2012 at 08:46 AM personally, i found celine's comments really disappointing. whitney's death should have been a moment for divas around the world to come together, to remind the rest of us of just how hard it is to live under the vocal spotlight, to be expected to be perfect all the time. i was looking forward to a heartfelt, mature comment from celine and mariah, recognizing the cultural importance of whitney's passage. instead, celine chose to broadcast her ignorance and immaturity. she came across as bitchy, combative, and defensive - not exactly what you'd expect from the grand dame of the '90's diva mythology. whitney did not die of drugs; she died of shame, the shame of letting down her fans, destroying her gift, and having to endure the anxiety of her broken divahood in silence. we ought to be able to talk about divas with the respect they deserve, recognizing the incredible stress they must endure under the public spotlight. whitney was not a passive victim; she lived her life with intention, even when she was delusional. through it all, she retained the sublime dignity that god demands of all his divas. i don't mean to insult celine here. but she needs to recognize that she has an incredible responsibility right now. celine and mariah are the only two people alive on earth right now who truly know what whitney must have experienced in her career. if celine cannot understand this, then she doesn't deserve to be called a diva. the media is full of false rhetoric about whitney -- "whitney died of addiction, of her own mistakes," etc -- NO. whitney died of the impossible ideal of the diva; she very well may have killed herself after realizing that her voice was never going to get better. whitney and celine both share a gift from god, and it is against the basic law of the diva (as a sacred art) to disrespect the divine gifts of other divas. then again, maybe celine is just bitter that, even after following all the rules to the T -- never smoking, never indulging in cocaine, never partying in her 20's -- she still has to suffer from the same vocal difficulties that plagued whitney. i just wish that celine, as well as all divas, could offer the rest of us some perspective on just how hard it it is to be acclaimed as the voice of a generation. whitney's story is about more than drugs. to put her in the same category as amy winehouse just reveals how little celine actually knows about what it means to be a diva. please, celine. do something meaningful in honor of the life and art of your inspiration. make us cry, not cringe. additionally: until celine is willing to speak openly about her vocal difficulties between 2000 - 2010 -- that shameful era of lipped tracks, smoke and mirrors, and lullaby albums -- she doesn't deserve the right to speak about what whitney also hid from her fans. i bet this is a tough time for celine, because to truly memorialize her colleague, she needs to break her own silence on the vocal abuse she herself suffered as a result of constant touring and her inability to say no (something that whitney talked about a lot before she shut herself away from the world). celine, the world needs you now. we need you to help us understand why whitney houston hid her suffering from the world. before you do that, however, you must be willing to be honest with us about what you've gone through. death demands sensitivity and love, not recrimination. final point: celine and mariah need to get together to record a tribute song. at the very least they need to sit down for an interview together where they can express their feelings about whitney in a more measured setting. if this happens, i'd be in heaven... what tea cup ride are you on? because it's not on this planet!!!! Duchess Posted February 18, 2012 at 08:50 AM Posted February 18, 2012 at 08:50 AM I'm not pointing fingers at any one person. Fact is with all the insults and bashing that when on Twitter the other day against Celine was just so rediculous and mean. People sit around and say oh, poor Micheal or poor Elvis but when someone speaks out about trying to do something about the problem, oh boy! We need one of these huge celeberties to speak up about the drug abuse problem! With the millions of fans she has there might be someone that's actually getting some good advice from that interview! the problem is in the doctor's office. if these doctors would just stop prescribing these prescription drugs so easily maybe the problem would be solved half way. there is nothing anyone can do about the other stuff i.e. cocaine, heroine etc. if people are going to get it they will find a way to get it. but added to those drugs the doctors prescribe more hard core drugs. this has to stop. Xpresso Posted February 18, 2012 at 01:34 PM Posted February 18, 2012 at 01:34 PM @eyso - Celine probably knows a lot more about the drug issue in the entertainment world than you might think. If she can save one life by what she said, well she will have acheved her goal by talking about it!She's been in the business since she's a teenager and she mentioned it many years ago that it's a scary industry because when you make it big, "people" want to get closer to you and offer you "stuff" for free and say "oh for you, it's free, no problem". I'm sure she's been offered lots of stuff in the past but thankfully she has had people to guide her, unlike some other divas unfortunately. Quote

dinawawawa Posted February 18, 2012 at 03:29 PM Posted February 18, 2012 at 03:29 PM They criticized her because of the fact that she is Celine. Tony Bennett said "It's time to legalize drugs so people don't sneak to take them" right after Whitney's death, her body was still in the hotel and noone said that was disrespectful. By the way, truth be told, Whitney was a drug addict. She admitted it. Honestly, I am sick and tired of the coverage a drug addict celebrity gets when they die and how everyone is forced to "only mention the positives". I don't care anymore, let them keep doing drugs, me I'm gonna keep supporting my favorite singer who doesn't do drugs and who is a great role model. Quote

blueblazers90 Posted February 18, 2012 at 09:02 PM Posted February 18, 2012 at 09:02 PM I must say I'm disappointed that Celine was not at the funeral. She always has excuses for why she can't make events. She has her own jet. She can go wherever she wants whenever. This would have helped the image that was presented to Whitney's fans after GMA. I understand what she meant, however many didn't. Quote

I understand what she meant, however many didn't. I think this is uncalled for. It was stated several times that this was an Invitation only service. All of the known people who attended had a connection with Whitney, Celine did not. The family had no reason to invite her, so to blame Celine is wrong. As for the GMA incident, most people understand that Celine did not mean to cause any offence, therefore she had no need to 'help her image' Quote

ilove.celine Posted February 19, 2012 at 10:38 AM Posted February 19, 2012 at 10:38 AM I know people in this forum who knows celine very well will surely understand why she said those things. Celine was totally true about her statement. Let's just face the fact that truth really hurts. She didn't blame whitney houston instead she blame drugs because it took away everything from whitney. I salute to celine for saying forward how she felt for the death of whitney (not whitney). Only few people in the show business can say what is really happening in the industry and i give a thumbs up to celine.... :thumbsup2: Quote
Ororo Munroe Posted February 19, 2012 at 03:18 PM Posted February 19, 2012 at 03:18 PM Celine was very far from the truth, this is worth than previous, the own girl of Whitney is going to do a rehab, in fact the family of the daughter would like that this girl do a rehab, she is only 18 and she is already addict of some drugs, what kind a mother would let her daughter take drugs. The driver of Whitney declared that she took drugs in front of her daughter in the car when her daughter was only 7 years old and nobody could stop her to do that. I m sorry, if Whitney was a great singer in 80's and 90's, she was the shadow of herself in 2000's, her voice was destroyed, so believe me, Celine was very very soft in fact and very far from the truth.... The death of Whitney is sad but in fact, this is not a surprise at all.... I m sorry but there are more important things which happen each year than that and nobody speaks about. Quote
