Alex_Incognito Posted January 29, 2012 at 01:58 AM Posted January 29, 2012 at 01:58 AM (edited) Is THLAL the same playback as the LTAL lover? Sounds like it. I did like the arrangement. Thomas Posted January 29, 2012 at 02:00 AM Posted January 29, 2012 at 02:00 AM I think some of the THLAL vocals are from the old playback track from the LTAL tour and Celine is singing a few live parts at the end. But it makes it sound like she's singing over herself. Great to see some videos though!!! I thought they would never come. Quote

Thomas Posted January 29, 2012 at 02:08 AM Posted January 29, 2012 at 02:08 AM What alex? THLAL was definitly.not lipped... Maybe you meant to say other song?I've just compared it to the one from ACDS, the bridge from "don't lead her on and on and leave her confused..." is identical as well as a few other parts. I think she's just singing a few live parts here and there. Plus at the end you hear 2012 Celine singing over the top of 1999 Celine which is quite funny. I think her earphones stopped working at 0:40 though, she's obviously not singing what's coming over the speakers. Still, I really like THLAL when it's performed on stage! It works much better. Quote
Alex_Incognito Posted January 29, 2012 at 02:12 AM Posted January 29, 2012 at 02:12 AM I just compared it to the DVD as well, and there definitely are some parts that are identical. I think she's singing over the track, too. Quote "People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."- Céline Dion, 1990

Tyler1991 Posted January 29, 2012 at 02:31 AM Posted January 29, 2012 at 02:31 AM (edited) Pathetic. Celine is given the first opportunity in 15 years to sing a duet with the original singer. We all know how rare that is - it doesn't come along very often. Then she wastes everyones time including Diana King's by lipping to a track that's 14 years old? Jesus christ, I've lost all respect for this woman as a performer. All she does these days is lip her own songs and sing karaoke to other peoples songs. Don't get me wrong, I love Celine Dion the mother, Celine Dion the person, and her songs, but Celine Dion the performer gets a big fat F. I've learned to accept most songs as being lipped, but there are certain times where it is just not anywhere near acceptable. We hear all this talk about saving the voice....saving for what?? After 20 years when does the saving end? Jesus christ I am infuriated. Oh and one last comment, I'm sure someone accidentally left her new DOL playback tape in Vegas since it was only used once, hence why she only sang like three lines of it. Sad that that is the highlight of this entire night, along with the inclusion of IA. Hate to be a negative-nancy but this is ridiculous. It'd be one thing if it was a big tour, but a one-off show. You can put more effort into it than that! And you can say all you want about high expectations, but if you think it's to high of an expectation to expect a SINGER to SING at a festival that she was invited to sing at - a freaking festival about music... then you need to be punched in the face. joshua312 Posted January 29, 2012 at 02:55 AM Posted January 29, 2012 at 02:55 AM I guess I was expecting a more uptempo show for Jamaica. I can't imagine people rocking out to The Prayer or Beauty and the Beast lol... funny you should say this because thats what would seem the norm. However Jamaica LOVES her power ballads. Dont get me wrong, the uptempo songs did well and in particular 'im alive' was a big hit but if she had done any of the following in place of say 'at seventeen' or 'the reason' people would have gone crazy. Water From the MoonThink TwiceIf You asked me tooCall the manIf Walls could talkIm Your AngelI surrenderGoodbye's the saddest word Also to be noted is that the songs that people did love (because you loved me, its all coming back to me now, power of love) were sung along with celine in the audience more than at any other venue i have ever seen her at. rotem Posted January 29, 2012 at 03:02 AM Posted January 29, 2012 at 03:02 AM Is it just me or MHWGO sounds totally different than in any other live show in the last 10 years!? It sounds just like how she used to sing it live back in 1998...Or is it just my strange imagination because of the thought about her rerecording the song...Sounds like she practiced it a bit to sound more like the original version in 1998 Quote

I pretty much agree with you. Celine really frustrates me sometimes. Her lipping has gotten absolutely out of hand. There is no excuse for it, especially under this circumstance. She's on break from her Vegas show, she doesn't have to go back to a concert, there is no reason she couldn't sing a live show. It's pretty irritating. I watched a couple of the live songs and she had hardly any energy. She put barely any effort into I'm Alive, which is a totally easy song to sing. I don't know how she gets up on that stage consistently and pretends to mouth words to her own freaking songs. She should be singing them, not acting them out. She lips the hard songs, and then half-asses her way through the ones she actually sings. LCMM is a joke, she doesn't even sing that song, just makes a fool out of herself. I hate the arrangement and I wish she'd go back to singing that like she used to. This was a huge disappointment. HUGE. She is phoning in her career at this point and it's really frustrating to see the wasted potential. Her voice is in great shape, there's no excuses for her at this point. Quote

Tyler1991 Posted January 29, 2012 at 03:17 AM Posted January 29, 2012 at 03:17 AM Thanks for posting your opinion, as I'm sure we're in the minority and will soon be scrutinized by those who disregard or show no concern for these issues. But to me, I show the concern because I have a vision of what defines a performer, and one of those characteristics is honesty, and this is just far from it. It's not even about lying, but also about being true to yourself. Music is about a lot of things, not just singing, but emotions as well, and part of the song, you feel an emotion in the singers voice. It's not a true emotion being emitted onto the stage with a playback being used. All of the reasons you listed are basically it! And people can respond and say, WHY are we talking about this, WHO cares, etc...but the bottom line is, regardless of whether you want to talk about it or not, it can NOT be denied that it is not the MOST RIGHT thing to do....so that begs the question (give the reasons listed) of why!! Javito Posted January 29, 2012 at 03:26 AM Posted January 29, 2012 at 03:26 AM (edited) OMG I LOVED LOVED LOVED it!!! She needs to go out from Vegas more often, it does her good!! Did you see all the audience singing along in WDMHBN??? Now that's for all those who say the audience only wants to see her sing the classics! Get that on your face! She can go to a place she's never been and sing one of her less popular songs and still the people know the lyrics by heart I hope she and René learn something out of this. She could sing today less known songs like Only One Road, Misled or The Last To Know and people would be as excited to hear them as the trited TPOL or BYLM The ending of I'm Alive and LCMM was amazing, she added some new adlibings there that make the songs worth to listen again. And what to say about THLAL? It's been a gift to the eyes and ears to see her perform this song after 13 years. Though maybe the jazzy sound they gave to it with those trumpets wasn't the best, I felt the song lacked more effects from the original version here and there. But overall the performance was worth the try OMG!! I've dead with the end of I'm Alive!!!!! Just like the 2002 days! AMAZING!! her voice is in a great shape!! Yes!! I loved that part too! Just like in the 2002 performances! EDIT: all my excitement about THLAL has vanished when I saw the moment at 0:38 in the video. That was embarrasing to say the least Is she really CLEARLY lipping there? Was that necessary in this song too, after 13 years without singing it?
