celinesounds Posted September 21, 2011 at 04:16 PM Posted September 21, 2011 at 04:16 PM There's something I don't understand, why is "It's all coming back to me now" considered a cover? She got the song first didn't she? She has done the original recording. I know Meat Loaf and Steinman (?) had already written the song but disagreed on what to do with it or something. Meat Loaf ended up not using it for the album he was recording and Steinman gave it to Celine. Doesn't that make Celine's version the original? Meat Loaf recorded his version for his latest album as a duet with some other chick singer (and thus proving that Celine actually did the song much better justice). I like Meat Loaf but he didn't bring anything special to the song in his duet version. But anyway, what's the deal? Why is Celine's version considered a cover when she released it first? A female singer record earlier in 80's Madonna's new single will come out in February, as well new Rihanna new single for her new album is set for next month #FREEJAVITO
ladylindsey Posted September 21, 2011 at 04:47 PM Posted September 21, 2011 at 04:47 PM How awful!!!! All you do is complain and think you can manage her career better than anyone else!!! One day she really will retire and we will have nothing, so be thankful she still gives to the fans. She certainly doesn't have to. I am so grateful to have Celine concert tickets in my pocket, the opportunity to even be able to go see her, 2 new albums on the horizon next year, a documentary in a few days, and the opportunity to see her happy with a brood of children she has waited so long to have and love.
Solan Posted September 21, 2011 at 04:56 PM Posted September 21, 2011 at 04:56 PM Ah okay... lol Thanks for the info.
anewdayhascome Posted September 21, 2011 at 05:40 PM Posted September 21, 2011 at 05:40 PM yes Lindsey but you live in the USA, you have been already to numerous shows but sorry many of us aren't in such a situation and the cd is the only thing that we can get from Celine, we can't benefit from going to Vegas more than once (I hope at least this 1 time will come true even though it's not sure) so it's not the same And many of us have already said that, we have nothing against Celine & family, that's why I love her - that she shares everything with us, but when it comes to the albums and career stuff we can have our opinion and we should seperate those 2 parts of Celine. Her family life is awesome but her career, we have to face it, isn't at the top. Of course she has a show but as I pointed out earlier is not for everyone and I'm sure that even some Celine fans don't know it exists. So that's why we long for a totally new album. Any album is good from Celine (since we haven't got any these last years) but an album with covers won't be a great album which we are looking forward to. It's not that covers are bad but at this point we need new material. Javito Posted September 21, 2011 at 06:31 PM Posted September 21, 2011 at 06:31 PM (edited) How awful!!!! All you do is complain and think you can manage her career better than anyone else!!! Yes, and there are so many other things that they certainly don't have to do either... 1) She doesn't have to release anything new when we know they have dozens of unreleased songs/concerts and they could just give us ONE in these times that she's so "busy" to quieten us, but they don't. It's better to milk fans the money and release the umpteenth collection of songs again. 2) They don't have to pick the wrong and worst single choices when they have better ones. It's NOT that hard to pick and send better singles to radios than what they've been doing since 2003, but somehow they surpass themselves each time with these decisions. If by that you mean that some of us believe we can manage her career better than them, then we certainly believe that! I repeat, is not that hard to send an uptempo/original song to radios instead of a cover/slow/weepy song. Even a kid could do that probably. 3) They don't have to record an album that is going to be promoted as "the new Celine" and with great original new songs to then totally ruin it sending again covers to radios, not performing any of the original songs in TV and not doing any effort to support it eventually after the first single. Why they snatch this change away from under our noses if they have decided since the first minute that nothing is going to change really? They don't need to do that either. What a deception to the public and a waste of time in the promotion of something they made us believe it was new and a change in her career, don't you think? 4) They don't need to make Céline record in the studio such amount of original songs if they know they're goint to NEGLECT and IGNORE them later in all her concerts, TV appearances and tours, as usually. No, they don't absolutely need to do that either. 5) And about her shows in Las Vegas, like someone has pointed out, YOU live in the US, many of us here don't, and are so far from there. Your chances to see her performing in Las Vegas are very different from those who are not in the US And maybe you're wrong with the statement that "one day she will retire and we will have nothing". According to the present time, nothing is what we've got since 2007 (despite the fact they could release MANY things without Céline involvement). And even though she's doing concerts now in Vegas, I don't know in your city but out from the US, to our eyes its as if Céline was retired. Since many years ago. The newest song we hear from them in the radios is I Drove All Night, from 2003. So I start to believe that the day she retires is when we will begin to have new (and unreleased) things from her I'm sorry, but I don't get to understand the complacency you find with everything that Céline does Edited September 21, 2011 at 06:49 PM by Javito "Hush, now... I agree with Lindsey. We should be grateful for what we have because she doesn't have to be doing all this. She could just decided to retire and that's it. It's not like she does the money so since she's still here, it's because she loves it and she wants to be doing it. http://images.lpcdn.ca/435x290/201103/17/305341.jpg Merci Céline pour ces deux soirées inoubliables que j'ai passées à tes côtés. Shaun Posted September 21, 2011 at 08:34 PM Posted September 21, 2011 at 08:34 PM I'm sorry, but I don't get to understand the complacency you find with everything that Céline does And that's exactly the point why Celine / Rene / Sony won't ever change anything as they think the fans as satisfied with everything they put out. 5 years sold out in Vegas? Fans must be happy!3 million tickets sold for a world tour? Fans must be happy!New show in Vegas performing very well in ticket sales? Fans must be happy! Now if you are Rene or Sony why wouldn't you be happy with this? It's generating more money than you can possibly dream of! If however MUSIC is what interests you and the originality in it then Rene / Sony cannot be happy with this AND more importantly they SHOULD be looking at the sales and chart performance of Celine's music over the past 10 years. Nobody worldwide has been interested in the majority of Celine's music since the end of the "A New Day Has Come" campaign. Celine's longevity on the charts has been poor and her singles performance on the charts has been poor to non existant to say the least. All of this poor performing music has been linked to the decision to go to Vegas and of course the constant constant promotion of old songs and of course the age old tradition of releasing covers as singles. And I repeat once again that NOBODY on this forum became a fan of Celine because she's a great mother or has great kids. They didn't become fans because they saw trees growing out of the stage in "A New Day..." and they didn't become fans because of the great stage used during the world tour. People became fans because of the voice and the music. And like you Javito I find it staggering there's such a lack of interest here in new and original music. No wonder they're trying to make more money from tours and Vegas because the decisions they have made themselves mean there is no money left for them in music. I agree with you, although I also understand Javito's point of view; but we are fans, I mean, after a hard day working the best that can happen to you is to arrive at home and listen to Celine, or watch her new interviews, or, I don't know, be thankful that she is still releasing new stuff and working like a dog! I'm not a Celine Dion fan to get mad because her career isn't managed the way I'd wanted it to be, I'm a Celine Dion fan because, since I discovered her two years and half ago, I need to listen to her music every single day of my life or watch her videos and, I'll say it again, BE THANKFUL THAT SHE STILL RELEASES NEW STUFF AND SHARES HER PRIVATE LIFE WITH US!! Alex_Incognito Posted September 21, 2011 at 10:44 PM Posted September 21, 2011 at 10:44 PM Why can't people accept that some fans expect more from our favourite singer? That doesn't mean we hate her, to be disappointed doesn't mean to hate. I'm 100% satisfied with Celine's current Vegas show, but her album scene has desperately disappointed me. I'm not going to bow to everything the woman does. This idea of "retirement" ----ca me fait chier!!! No other fans mope around talking about how their favorite 42-year old artist is going to retire because 42 is quite young in a recording career. People just do this because she did 1.5 times. This has nothing to do with that, it has to do with RECORDING quality music. "People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."- Céline Dion, 1990

joaofilho Posted September 22, 2011 at 10:11 AM Posted September 22, 2011 at 10:11 AM I'm a fan of Celine since 1994, and I'm not really happy how things are coming up for retirement is celine this is fact, his age is advancing, I live in Brazil and here people think that Celine does not sing more and he retired, what a fan like his idol are the new songs to be released, interviews, music videos, concerts worldwide, I do not care that she has children, their children show on TV, tell them, that's my opinion . Plus they are only concerned with generating profits in concert, the music was forgotten, and maybe it will not change anytime soon, while she stays in Vegas they will not care, what they want are more viewers for the show, the more tickets bought and profits .

AMÉN! The artistry has gone, the passion she had in recording new songs inside a recording studio seems evaporated. The so called "Celine" show is just a show custom-made to Caesars Palace requirements, just to generate the more profits, the better. But all the people who ever purchased a CD from Céline Dion because of her songs has been put aside in its conception, including us, the fans. "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"

Maybe you are a little bit exagerated, after 5 years in Vegas with A New Day, you don't think she had a little passion recording Taking Chances and specially "My Love", because I haven't seen any recording session videos more emotional... so maybe being patience... we will see...

Yes, but since 2007 there's been a long gap of 4 years full of delays, postpones and evasives when they ask them about new music Besides, this represents the longuest break without new music in her career, when she has always recorded albums with enthusiasm every 1-2 years, french or english Las Vegas is just preventing her to do that. And remember, the opinion of the fans who were born in the mid '90s is as important as yours, don't forget that. why constantly add -- as long as she feels comfortable with it.. why? It's not about what she feels comfortable with, it is about what we as fans would like to hear. For instance, she can be very comfortable with singing boring songs but does not mean i am satisfied because she feels comfortable? i don't get your point. And indeed, it is not all about how good Celine feels, how she feels good being a mum and about her children.. yes she is a fantastic person, but I became a fan of her because of her music, otherwise I can be fan of so many people. but the main thing Celine has to offer us is her incredible voice. And she is wasting it! And i don't care if she feels comfortable with singing covers.. that is not what makes me happy. She does not have to make me happy but I just think she and her record company /management don't look further, play safe and don't care about her being a popsinger. I still want to say, even if she is so hard working every night in Las Vegas doing that same show every time, she did not have to! she has so much money there was no need to go back to Vegas. Okay, it brings stability for her she said.. well she could have even more stability by not doing this show, being there for her family even more and in the meantime work on some fantastic records with material offered to her, But no again, 3 years or who knows how much longer, retire in Vegas! And indeed there are some people in here who have seen her shows a dozen times who appear on so many tvshows etc. They can see her almost when they want to. I am from Holland and a lot of other fans live even further away from Vegas. I am not gonna safe loads of money to see her one night in Vegas doing this show, which has some nice songs but I am not like paying a 1000 euros to see her one night. Then I better wait a couple of years hoping she might tour again ( and please not with the same repertoire). Right now she is denying her previous records, never sings them in the tours, only the popular ones. Only thing I can hope is that during these long years in Vegas, she is gonna come with some astounding records with fresh new material. Because I lately read is about her and her family or one of the latest parfumes.. And I am a big fan of Celine but lately I am just disappointed. There is so much more potential but we don't hear it, it is wasted, that is what it is. Of course the other thing I definately don't want to see is seeing her retire. But she is not that old yet! I mean Tina Turner in 2008 she even did a concert and that old trashy - as you all call it - Madonna, she is still making records. So Celine has lots of time doing nice things, so I don't get the Vegas thing. To me it feels like a retirement. And it is almost like some of the people in here better have a boring and not satisfying album and feel okay with it because Celine feels okay with it and Celine decided to do so. And because she made that decision it is good she did it, because she makes a decision it is her choice and we have to be grateful etcetera... sorry I don't get that. I care for Celine and I am happy she is happy and that she is gifted with a nice family but I also hope she will care for her fanbase again. And being in Vegas might satisfy the American fans but most of the fans in the world rather have her doing something else I think Edited September 22, 2011 at 12:29 PM by browseceline <iframe width="640" height="390" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hl2XkxnYljg" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Look how big this country is. We also DO NOT have airlines like easyjet or Ryan Air that fly you for cheap. It's round $500-$1000 for many of us to fly to Las Vegas.
