Angel2006 Posted October 4, 2011 at 11:38 PM Posted October 4, 2011 at 11:38 PM Let me get this straight. Are Celine's albums coming out on these dates. English album Feb 2012, French album Oct 2012? It's all so confusing. There have been so many dates floating around i just want to make sure i fully have the dates correct.
zuv Posted October 5, 2011 at 01:35 AM Posted October 5, 2011 at 01:35 AM So you agree that the "Celine" setlist is no other than a show tailored to Las Vegas and Caesars Palace requirements, don't you? That's what I think too Agree also with the MJ tribute. Yes she may be a big fan of him and he was an inspiration to her, but why she didn't care before 2009 to pay him tribute in previous concerts? I'm not blaming her don't take me wrong, but I do think since the moment I saw the setlist that there was some opportunism behind that decission. I mean, every singer is praising MJ music and his talent today, when they didn't gave a damn in his life. Of course including a medley of his songs was another rabbit in the top hat for Caesars Palace Honestly, she had no need to do a show full of covers like this, if she had travelled a 30 year career full of hits and top quality songs, it wasn't to end this way doing a show full of other people's songs Was this her wish? I don't think she even have a say in the theme, honestly!. We perfectly know René is the one in charge with these aspects, so probably all the idea about popular songs and tributes was proposed (*demanded*??) by Caesars Palace people and René just agreed. Which in terms of Céline comes to mean that she just said "yes" in order to "please him", as we've seen lately that she just wants and loves to make him happy yes, i've always thought the samething since the begining. But it doesnt take away the fact that releasing a studio album inspired from the show is to me brilliant for the reasons i told you before... We can blame Caesar or whoever, it still comes down on how to satisfy as much people as possible and make sure to fill the seats every night. Could they have done it with only Celine's old hits? i'm sure yes, but i think it was a safe bet to do popular old covers since she didn't have anything new to promote. She will soon, by recording those songs in studio. She will make these songs her own as she always did in the past. People people as interesting and necesary this discussion seems to be there should be anothe place for it than going round in loops in this thread. Isn't it by now quite off topic? And it probably needs its space. Its Celine's forum, pratically every topic will evolve to and end up to be music talk.
Javito Posted October 5, 2011 at 07:25 AM Posted October 5, 2011 at 07:25 AM I very much doubt Caesars had anything to say, let alone decide, in the creative process of the show. Don't forget the big man behind 'Céline': Ken Ehrlich. Or Ken Ehrlich, it's the same. Either the direction of CP or him, they could have said "we are in crisis and people will only come if they know the songs and she performs big hits, so that should be the theme of the show"... I'm not sure they gave Céline and René carte blanche to do a show full of songs she has never performed, songs that the tourists in Vegas won't have never heard "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
Davey84 Posted October 5, 2011 at 07:28 AM Posted October 5, 2011 at 07:28 AM (edited) I very much doubt Caesars had anything to say, let alone decide, in the creative process of the show. Don't forget the big man behind 'Céline': Ken Ehrlich. Not about the creativeness of the show, but they do have something to say about the length of the show! Remember Mego's instrumental parts were cut in AND... cos the show was too long according through Ceasars Jav, I really don't think CP had a say in the song choice. Celine Dion is a big a name to sell out every night! And we all know that René and her team think we want to hear IACBTMN, BYLM, TPOL & MHWGO for the 32984th time, so CP isn't to blame for that either. True, as CP's condition is that every show at CP/The Colosseum has a limit of 90 mins. 'Céline' even breaks that rule, as it's 95 min or something long.... The song choices (the big hits), no new arrangements....that's all Rene's doing, plain and simple. »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» MATHIAS ««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzPrxI0AIDY

Thomas Posted October 23, 2011 at 09:56 AM Posted October 23, 2011 at 09:56 AM Janis Ian was interviewed for the November issue of Diva Magazine and she talked a little about Celine covering At Seventeen for her new English album: "Celine Dion is doing At Seventeen on her next record," Janis notes. "Her husband was telling me that when he first showed it to her she wasn't familiar with it. Then she read it and was like, 'Oh my god, this is my song'. That's the great thing about At Seventeen, because you look at someone like that and you think [she might not relate to it] but then I could see her as a kid with the big nose and the wrong accent and a strong jawline and too skinny. You know, everyone's got some sh*t wrong with them."

dj4celine Posted October 23, 2011 at 07:47 PM Posted October 23, 2011 at 07:47 PM Janis Ian was interviewed for the November issue of Diva Magazine and she talked a little about Celine covering At Seventeen for her new English album: "Celine Dion is doing At Seventeen on her next record," Janis notes. She just mentions the credibility of the song, which IMO is one of the most 'real' songs that Celine will ever record in her career. I wish Janis could have said if she was happy with it or not cos her fans in the forum are already starting to pick on the fact that Celine's covering it for her album.
