Yes, the main problem is that Céline has never released an album just for the sake of her own will Look at the past decade, during the 90's Sony released a Céline Dion album every year. After FIY worldwide success, she went to the recording studio to do LTAL, another even bigger success and then a world tour. Do you think that was because Céline said "Ok, I'm exhausted, but let's do another album one right now

That should be because Sony's contract was behind and saw the hen of golden eggs behind, but today things have changed and René/Céline put an end to that yearly basis (sadly for us, yes).

 

Or because back then there was genuine money to be made in recording and releasing music and then promoting it around the world? That's how Celine and Rene made their fortune and good on them! Selling 60 million albums in 2 years earns your some pretty serious money. The effort into choosing songs and promoting them correctly HAD to be right back then as it's how they made their living.

 

These days however for an artist like Celine, who doesn't write her music and whose songs no longer set the charts alive, there is no money to be had in recording and releasing music - they're simply doing it these days because they have a contract with Sony which means they have to. They seem to be getting away with longer and longer gaps between releasing music though and i'm not sure how much longer Sony will accept that. Perhaps that's why it's looking like we'll see 2 albums within the space of 6 months next year?

 

These days ALL the money is in performing (Vegas and world tour) and lucrative deals such as the perfumes.

 

If Celine still had to make the money I guarantee the situation just now would be just like the 90's - an album every year.

Yes I agree I was thinking about it and it seems that the reason she doesn´t recording as often as in past is also situation with selling of albums this days, we can see many other singers who go on tour more often than in past because there´s more money from live performing than from recording albums, but I still hope that Céline still wants (at least a little) to recording new songs.

We can be sure that if Celine still sold 20-30 million of copies per album, like she used to, Rene would be getting phone calls from Sony Music like every five minutes.

I think that post is exactly how it is Shaun!! That was really an eyeopener! And I also think because internet has taken over everything, bringing out new albums is not the most lucrative way nowadays to earn money. since so many people download music easily from the internet ( for free) and the cd as source to bring out music, has had its last days I think. Almost everyone ( esspecially younger generation) has mp3players, iphones etc. So yes, indeed that could be very well the reason for doing Vegas too. Touring is the other thing , but she already did one not so long ago, so Vegas seems a safe way to earn money nowadays,

you don't think staight, Celine is a singing zombie, manipulated by sony music and René. She does'nt care about anything but her babies. And i think she is probably drugged, because how else explain her lack of concern about her fans. After all, we are the ones who pays for her shoes , her dresses...

 

I'm a fan of Celine because no others can sing like her, so i'm her fan, nonobstant enerything . When another one can do the same thing she does for emotionnally speaking and for my ears i will switch to this other with no complains...in the meantime, i'll support whatever she does. When you get older, and more understanding of others, you learn to accept.

Aren't we so happy that she did though? Those were the good times! I think she wanted this, she wanted to live this crazy life and be the most successful singer in the world. She had the raging passion for singing... until that kid was born. IM KIDDING! CALM DOWN PEOPLE lol

Album planned to be released on april next year, she said she did not record yet, and will do it between concerts while in vegas. Songs are still being chosen.

So much drama here...

How many of you would still be full of passion for something you've been doing professionally since you are 17 years old??? Non-stop traveling, recording, touring, promoting for over 20 years!!! And after reaching the very top of the music industry... What else would you want to do?

Well Céline decided that this crazy life needed some balance and that a family was the way to go. We might not be happy about that but that's for her to decide.

From now on, I'm sure her record deal is to release an English album and a French album every 4-5 years. And eventually it will probably be even longer than that, just like Barbra Streisand does every once in a while to keep her name out there and please the hardcore fans.

+1, she could take this year too, but look all the things she is doing, I´m more than sure that this new album will be amazing, and 11 new songs at least, plus some of vegas´s songs.

 

Fans always demand like if are owners of a life, carefull. Every single artist are diferent, for my part madonna have nice songs, but like a person, she is a .... Look beyonce her last album for me was a deception, but no mather what happens all the world says who has the best voice in the planet, there is only one anwser...CELINE (even perez hilton just said it)

that video is from a selfmade mix. I haven't listened to it carefully enough, but someone is stating that it is taken from Celine's Let Ballet from the deux album and mixed with random music. And I am pretty sure it is.
