I saw it today with 5 ppl . going back tomorroww, The guy next to me was crying I guess, blowing his nose alot. I love the movie, brought back soooo many memorys, I see no ones talking about her home in Montreal, when they got back from the show...

 

Yeah it was mentioned by some fans already. It was really cute and funny and also kind of a "wow moment" too for many ppl I think!

Here are my thoughts about the movie,

7. The italien girl fan part was grrrreat!!! I hope that part wasn't fake! If that was rehearsed Celine and the italian Girl are truly great actresses, but i doubt. (i say that because i think thats everyone's dream to meet celine this way and make it so unique like this, it was awesome)

 

No it wasn't rehearsed pyb . Couldn't you tell? To me it was obvious it couldn't have been and I think those kind of reactions by some fans are pretty frequent when meeting Céline. Of course, this meeting was special as it was unique and funny cuz of both personnalities and spontaneous reactions. Don't you know already Pyb that this Italian girl is a member on this forum? I think she has already posted some comments on this topic. Being from Italy, I think she said she didn't get the opportunity to watch the movie yet though. I'm so happy for her, she'll be able to keep for ever a very special souvenir of their meeting on tape.

So I'm just back after my long trip to Arklow (8 hours in total) to see Celine da movie and boy was it worth it. Unfortunatley because of the length of the journey no one was pable to come with me, even though there would have been at least 6 of us if it had been in Cork.

 

The whole film was a joy and brought back great memories of the show.

It was great to see how much she crammed into the tour and how she was able to see some of the countries she visited as a tourist. i thought it was really funny when she wason the canal in Amsterdam and amazed that you could see right into peoples houses. Imagine looking out your widow and seeing Celine sail by peering in at you.Also in Amsterdam at one point she stuck a piece of celery behind her top lip and started joking that she'd had an allergic reaction.

The whole shoe song & dance number was so bizarre, funny and totally Celine!

Loved the Italian fan, she seemed so more normalthan some of the fans they show on these type of things, just like one of us (which I know you are) loved her telling her boyfriend to get an autograph mid-asthma attack!

Good sense of priorities there!

The whole audience in my theatre absolutley loved every minute of it and were so glad that they came. Mind you, as the whole audience consisted of me and my coat, that's not too surprising.

 

Yeah, I was completley alone in the, not too small, cinema for the show. Except for a staff member who watched a few minutes of it mid-move.

 

It was so frustrating, but hardly surprising as there was zero publicity for it, no posters, not even outside the door to the screen (it wa a 9 screen cinema) and the listings board was tiny.

 

No wonder no one knew it was on. As this is only being shown Sat & Sun at 2 and 4.40 pm it is going to bomb enormously in Ireland, which is a real shame as it deserves to get a better crowd. Even when I rang omniplex this week the girl in the call centre knew nothing about it, and said she'd love to go 'cos she's a big Celine fan. A wasted opportunity by the cinemas. You'd think if you are one of only 2 in the whole country showing it, you'd make some bit of an effort to promote it.

 

Anyway, I'm still so happy to have seen it on the big screen and hope many more of you get the same chance.

It's pretty much known here. And Céline can be such a jukebox sometimes you know.. so I wasn't shocked that this one came to her mind. This moment, among so many others, was awesome!!!

Just got back from seeing the movie. My husband and I were both thoroughly impressed . There were about 20 people in the audience and everyone seemed to enjoy the show. We laughed a lot. She really is funny!

3. Perfect dosage of RC in the movie! I'm telling that, cause when i announced to my dad we would all go see the movie, the 1st thing he said was : "Great! Lets all go see a documentary about René-Charles!" Of course this comment was sarcastic,b/c Celine's interview are just (almost) about RC ! But he finally loved the whole movie.

 

Funny your dad should say that, as if we saw him often, which has never been the case. I guess it's because she talks about RC a lot that people think she would show him. But in reality she never does, we've seen RC more in the last week then we've seen him in the last 9 years. In fact, last week was the first time I had heard RC's spoken voice...and than again in the movie in french. We didn't even have a hint of what his voice was before. And seing RC live(except for Oprah for the second time only since 2002) is very very rare cuz Céline never brings him on the air on TV shows or interviews. The only way we used to see him was on pictures(in mags) or vids caught by paparazzi.

 

As for going together to see it again, it would be a great idea...but as you said it already Québec is big, in fact I do live in Québec but not in Québec city exactly.

Yes I did too. But that was very short, he didn't talk much(a couple of words only) and it was in french on DVD. The only time he was heard "by the general public"(in Qc) was on Céline's Adisq tribute I guess saying only "J't'aime pas maman, j't'adore!" and it was taped by S. Laporte during his filming of the tour so very recently. The important thing I meant to say is that we didn't hear(or see) the little guy often until recently eventhough she talks about him often. But thanks for reminding me of those DVD's(Québec version only) that fans on this forum have seen also.

Well like you said Lou, its not that much of seeing him, it was more her talking about him. Cause i made him watched michel, oprah and larry almost in the same week. LOL So thats why he made this comment i guess But he's also one of them who was annoyed by RC's hair... so that didn't help either lol I can say i wasn't big fan of his hair either oh well

I saw this today... and it was AMAZING! It was such a honor to see her journey... I am in love with this movie. It was so genuine. Such an emotional journey. I think I fell a bit more in love with Céline too, such a phenomenal woman. And HILARIOUS! The way they edited it was so great too... I liked that they didn't focus entirely on Céline, and we saw everyone else's journey as well. I saw some familiar faces too!!

 

My only complaint: I wish more cities could have been included... but it was two hours long and they can't fit everything in. But it was a shame more cities in North America weren't included. Maybe we'll get some bonus features on the DVD. I hope they at least include a clip from every show in the intro on the show DVD.

i saw the movie today and it was surprisingly touching. i basically cried thorughout the whole movie and i already anticipated it, but that didn't stop Celine from tugging at your heart strings. The most touching parts was when she brought the Korean girl dancer on stage and how emotional it was and also the part when she was given the French Legion of Honor , when they editted it with the singing of PQTME all over the world showing all the cities and how everyone was mouthing the words even if they didn't understand what they singing, the chinese people singing it, the Japanese, the Arabs, the Mexicans, she brought everyone together and when the French President said she spread our language to every corner of the world that's really a remarkable feat" , that was very touching.

 

The movie was simple, and extremely moving. It was not pretentious. It was just open and we saw Celine for exactly what she was. I was surprised that it didnt come across as "sugary" or "syrupy" like the detractors like to criticise her. it wasn't at all. it was very moving though.

Rene CHarles wasn't featured in the movie as much as i thought he would be, infact it wasnt until a few scenes that they really focued on him, they just showed him casually before and there wasn't an official introduction to him. he just appeared in some scenes. I liked how he always sat beside her whether it was at a casual supper or a formal feast fiut for a King or Queen he was at the head of the table along with her and heading up the adults.

with his upbringing he surely will be exposed and secure in the world of show business thats for sure.

 

I wished they would have showed more back stage scenes like preparation for the show like in AND. or showed the dancers backstage. practicing or whatver.

 

there was just SO much in the film its hard to rememebr everything but during the entire film not once did Celine come across as fake or disingenuine as her critics like to say.

When the Italian girl dropped to her knees and started to worship her from the ground you could tell it made her very uncomfortable.

 

the ending was sooo touching when Rene Charles asked her when is the next show. and she replied maybe not for a year and a half. do you want to spend some time with me , we can do many things ok. you have to see it to understand it better , it was extremely moving.

is important for me to point out that my meeting with Celine was not organized, I did not know if I would see Celine and I think this has been understood by my reaction. regarding the song that I and celine sang that this song is one of the most popular songs here in Italy ... this song is titled "The Italian" and is sung by Toto Cutugno.this singer in the 80s did concerts in Canada and Celine took part in one night on a show like this singer and is also why celine knows the refrain of this sing. I hope you will believe that my meeting with Celine is true ... all that has happened between us is the result of our spontaneity and the deep love I feel for celine.Io I hope that you have understood my words ... sorry for my terrible English.

Céline has sung with other fans through the year. For instance, I remember Bernard Lachance(who was on Oprah last year), for one, saying he got to sing BATB with Céline backstage once. But your encounter with Céline was awesome!!!! and will be on tape(on the upcoming DVD I guess) for you to keep forever. Awesome!

I finally got to see the movie today and it was FABUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUULOUS! Oh my god, I love that woman so much. The whole show was just so entertaining and touching. She is such an amazing person. So sweet and sincere and genuine and lovely and so BEAUTIFUL! I cannot believe that pretty much every song used in the movie was not playback. Even the songs she usually sings playback sounded different to me! The singing they used in the movie was just wonderful, she sounded so great. I can't believe nobody has mentioned the song at the end! It doesn't sound like a total studio version, but it doesn't sound like a live version either, I wonder if she recorded it (The Show Must Go On by the way) just for the end of the movie or what? It was great! The movie made me cry at times and gave me chills. She is so funny! The part where she sticks the celery in her mouth on the boat? So funny! And the part where she's dancing around like Elvis with those shoes. People around me were talking before the movie started how great she was and how together she is. The woman is just so lovely, it makes me so grateful that she is such a great example. You can really tell how close Celine, Rene, and RC are and how she loves so much to be a mom. Her and Rene's interaction with their son is so sweet. He's a really cute kid and very funny too! The whole thing was so much better than I could have hoped, I just had a smile on my face from the second it started to the second it ended and for 20 minutes after. This was a dream come true for a Celine fan.
