I'm so glad so many of you like it. It's exactly how I feel, I've always wanted to tell her that in person - because it really is so true. Her voice is was captured my attention, but then I fell in love with her as the kind, genuine, full of life woman that she is. Feel free to borrow it, I would be honored.

 

We could even say, "It was the woman behind the voice that kept them."

Btw, did someone from the forum start the charity, or was it Celine's people, or someone else? I know it's for a good cause (Cystic Fibrosis, right?) but I think I got a bit lost along the way.

I completely agree that Rene should receive something too! it will be a good surprise for him.. he'll think he's in on it and surprise Celine and then we're able to give him something too! =) Besides.. they really do complete each other!! I agree that the awards should resemble each other in style!!!

 

and we still need to raise some sort of money.. just because i like the idea of emphasizing a donation rather than just an award!

We just wanted to post in here our response regarding this award project, which was posted in the CF2 section, Ideas/Suggestions thread:

 

As CF² continues working on become a legitimate 501©3 non-profit organization, it is important that we abide by strict protocols in order to remain compliant. This is also why we ask individuals to get approval from us before moving forward with any ideas that involve the CF² name. When we raise money, it is necessary that 100% of it goes directly to The Celine Dion Foundation; not partially to pay for an award while the other part goes to her foundation. It is important that we not dilute the mission of our organization; which is solely to raise money for the Celine Dion Foundation. And while we think the award is a very nice idea, after reviewing the project we believe the project leads us astray of our mission. Additionally, as we are still in our 'infancy' we think it is important to have Celine's team hear from us as often as possible. We believe that waiting 17 or more months to send another check will be detrimental to our cause, especially since we have only given them one check to date.

 

We always appreciate everyone's ideas and suggestions, which is the reason this thread was opened and pinned. It's important to us to get feedback from everyone, and we always try our hardest to fulfill everyone's requests and utilize everyone's idea. However, sometimes we must regretfully decline an idea or suggestion, but we hope everyone can understand why.

OK, I understand CF2's reasons. But we're not going to give up the donation idea anyway, it won't be in CF2's name but we'll figure it out. I have some ideas and we have time, so just don't lose faith The plaque Frida proposed looks great, it would probably indeed be modified in order to match the style of Celine's award... but we'll figure it out too.

Maybe that's too complicated, but what do you think of making a trophy and (instead of a plaque) something that attached to the it would make one perfect piece, composition, whatever. But they also would look good seperately. For example something for Rene could be a pedestral for Celine's trophy. You know, Rene has always been the foundation of Celine's career and happiness in life...

Celine had lost her niece, Karin age 16, to Cystic Fibrosis, and had vowed to her that she would start a foundation to help find a cure for the disease. The sonf ,"Fly" or "Vole", in french was written for Celine in honor of Karin. Karin died in Celine's arms as Celine softly sung in her ear.

I know it has been mentioned that a "heart" shaped award might not be appropriate. However, here is a sample pic with the description of the award. Whatever everyone decides upon, I'm in! Just think what we could purchase if everyone could afford to donate $10.00.

I still say this trophy really screams Celine; she is all heart yet the figure is bent as to be shy and simple in design; it is like the figure isn't hiding anything as is open just like Celine is with us. It is strong yet gentle.

 

You know I was just looking at this trophy and if you were to put (in your imagination) an arm reaching up to the sky with the gentle hand of Celine's, it would almost look like her pose as she sung MHWGO in Las Vegas. I tried to upload a picture of her up-stretched hand but my picture was to big. Does anyone have one that I can show with this picture?

Just because the donation from this project won't be on behalf of CF2, doesn't mean it won't be going to the same cause. No big deal.

 

And I love the idea of having both Céline and René's awards/plaques match or attach in some way. That's a really neat idea!

Well that's very thoughtful of you and it has crossed my mind too, but I think the yearbook idea might attract more people and make them more willing to conribute by donating money (for funding the award and above all the money we want to donate to charity in one way or another)... of course it would be wonderful to say it's from all the fans, as I know not everyone will be able to make their donation and there are also many members from different countries wh might never get to read that topic (though in over a year that's hardly possible, but it is)... And I know preparing the yearbook will be hard work as until next summer many people will probably take part in that, but I believe that's what people want and this is why with some help I'm willing to pull it through... Tell me guys what you think, I refuse to make such decisions by myself; I might be in charge of that but I'm no boss of yours and I want what people want (maybe I'll become President one day )
