A special award for Celine from all of us!

Since there are a few disagreements on what the statue should look like, should we pick maybe 4 that we like the general look of and take a vote?? Obviously, the exact statue may not be able to be made if we are looking at cheaper options, but something very similar.

I haven't read all the responses yet so please forgive me if this idea has already been mentioned. I think the statue should be something original. It shouldn't be a figure of Céline or anything that is a direct replica of her. After all, the Grammy and Oscar aren't direct replicas of music notes or movie reels. They are interpretations of what a winner in those genres would symbolize.

 

However, it should be something that resembles her: grace, power, and beauty. Perhaps call it the Tigress Award named after the beautiful animal known as the tiger. I'm sure someone on here could create a musical interpretation of a tiger. There's a lot of talented people on this board.

 

Anyway...let me know via PM how much money is needed and I'll see what I can do.

OK OK the shape is more or less figured out, and as for the details, right now os not the moment to discuss or to vote The important things now are: raising money for CF2 and finding ways to raise even more, plus finding a way to make this project come true, and I'm already thinking about it and preparing to make the first steps. So please don't go on proposing new shapes, award names or so on or we'll get lost in all that I'll find out what possibilities I have here in Poland to have a Heart of gold statuette made (the one or the other, though I really like the most recent golden heart Frida showed us) and how much it would cost, and then we'll see. I know you're all so excited about it, trust me - so am I, but we need to put things in order

I agree that the "Heart of gold"-theme is a great idea, maybe we can merge the two styles?

 

The theme from the tall statuette and the low-key elegant style of the crystal awards?

 

A gold coloured 3D heart on a platform.. maybe 10x10x14cm in total?

 

 

We get a heart theme, without the statuette-style she has 1000 of already?

 

 

There's an art gallery here that has art pieces like that but with an apple, and they're really classy looking and very appreciated.. I'm voting for something small and simple = no tall statuette..

And I agree with the comments about focusing on donating, rather than how extravagant the award will be. A donation will mean sooo much more to her than a fancy award.

I definately don't know how to draw but I gave it a try since I couldn't sleep to well this night

 

I tried to draw something quick:

 

 

The "C" and the "D" are made in the font she uses on her site, merchandising, etc... (try to imagine please, I know I didn't a great job) and are approximately 5 centimeters wide (to give the whole statue the necessary strength). (material used: a strong type of steel like titanium)

 

The heart is a nice heart (a bit round, not just plain cut out of a solid block, but really shaped) also made from a kind of steel (titanium) but layered with a fine layer of solid gold to give it a nice beautifull golden shine.

 

The whole thing is standing on a white Carrara marble rock with one side smoothend for engraving some text.

 

Height from bottom to top: approximately 20 to 30 centimeters

 

 

Like said: don't know how to draw, this was drawn in 2 minutes of time

 

(I actually had drawn 2 statues: one with her initials and one other only using hearts, etc... but that must be redrawn sometime)

Yeah, I'm also considering the idea now. And we should make sure that people from other language sections get to know about CF2 and about the award project. First of all an e-mail to all users (probably in several languages) regarding CF2 and that we need donations, and the word about the project can be spread through writing topics directing users to this one in all language sections.

 

So for now I guess I need volunteers who could translate messages in English to other languages. I can do Polish and Spanish, my French is not fluent enough so I'm gonna need someone to do the French part, Chinese will probably be Bellamy's part and so I need volunteers for French and all other languages. Please don't do anything without telling me first, we don't need mess here (like 3 identical topics in some language section made by different people)

Hehehe, I was just bored last night wile I couldn't sleep and quickly made a silly drawing

 

I'm going to ask my neighbour when he's back from a holiday what something like this would cost and let it know. I'm going to calculate how many material I would need and then ask a price to my suppliers of metal.

 

A custom design would be the best, so maybe a little game can be made to enter designs?

 

 

Concerning the translation: I'm a dutch speaking Belgian so send me the text and I'll translate it into Dutch

But I thought: why not take the initials and do something with it? I've made something different with only a heart, but i'll check this out later when I have a sleepless night again

A competition... well I might think about it, though now that we more or less agree what it's supposed to look like I don't know if it's worth all the fuss. We'll see to that later on.

 

And now, that's what I drew based on your project Bralo - I'm not sure about the heart but I fit a small D into the C (in the curve, I hope it's visible)... Oh, don't mind the inscription that much, I just wrote the first thing that came to my mind, we can stick to the 'heart of gold' just as well.

Well you know, if people don't want to stick to the certificate part, we can always create a beautiful first page of the yearbook explaining how much Celine means to us, this is the part I'm still considering. And as for the check, it wasn't me who came up with the idea but I think it would be amazing to raise a larger sum and hand her the check on the same occasion, I believe she would be very moved by that... oh and I thought that probably every person would have to 'buy' a place for themselves in the yearbook for, say, $10, and though a small part of the money would fund the award and the yearbook itself, the rest (=most of the money) would be donated to CF2, so from my point of view we shouldn't separate the two... An award + yearbook and a check would be OK, that's the way I see it. If you think it will be better this way, I can leave out the 'certificate' thing.

Yeah, I'm not saying that we should forget raising money, the opposite in fact! Just maybe that should be a project on it's own and the award thingy it's own. Everyone would be able to participate in both of course. Just concerned if having too much stuff will confuse people and get overwhelming and put some people off. And I really like the idea of raising a lot of money and giving the check to her at one of the first shows when she's back in Vegas and I'm planning on doing everything I possibly can to make that happen.

I really like the whole idea of the award, check and yearbook... can't we just make the first page of the yearbook a certificate page so that way the yearbook is still associated with the whole award and everything? & as I was reading the first pages of the topic it reminded me of the AND oprah special in vegas and everyone on the show got to have a sneak peek of the AND... I have a feeling if we contacted oprah, something like that would happen.. or it would be cool if celine was going to do a special on oprah anyways and we got to have like a fan meet n greet/vegas preview and even present the award and they showed a clip during the special.. this topic just got me thinking though. & I love Ashley's quote but count me in. great idea Edited April 5, 2009 at 11:40 PM by dancer105

Your idea is amazing and most of the suggestions are very good. I also agree that the focus should be on the donation (even though I am not sure I know how this procedure works but I will search and find out).
