Since When You Believe is going to be in her show wouldn't be amazing if she invited Celine for the opening night to cover Whitney's part? Just a thought ;)

Is it? I thought she was just doing her #1 singles on billboard? IT would be cool to hear her sing that so again, and have whitney on video like in the background or something.I haven't heard her sing it in a while, unless I'm totally out of the loop. It would be really cool to hear Celine and Mariah sing together, not sure about the song choice though. It would just be hard to hear the song without Whitney's voice.

 

I wonder if Ceine's going to send Mariah flowers or something? I know she sent some to Britney on her first night and she wasn't even in the same venue. I'm not sure if Celine sent anything to Bette or Shania when they took over??

Mariah has also released the cover of the album that's coinciding with the vegas residency! It's called #1 to Infinity! It's going to have her #1 hits with some new songs! The album is available to pre order mariahcarey.com tomorrow and hopefully it'll have a track list.

I hope she adds some never heard songs from her demo on it, since she's tweeted a few times about listening to said demo!

 

(Yes it's has photoshop but I think it's a way better cover than the Me. I Am Mariah album cover).

I remember Mariah's said when she gains weight, it all goes to her lower body.

The photoshopping is pretty bad and I think they added like a nub on her left hand, at least thats what I saw on twitter.

The new "album" is going to be released on May 18th and is a compilation of her #1's on Billboard as well as one new track called Infinity!

 

"Infinity" is going to be released as a single on May 27th, as well as a music video Brett Ratner directed! (It says on Mariah's website she's going to have a "spectacular kick off event planned in Las Vegas to celebrate her new upcoming Caesars Palace residency"

Some people wait until after opening night to decide/buy tickets. Not everyone preorders. We'll have to see what happens once her show starts.

I don't think she is but that would be cool and probably put a lot of the feud rumors to rest. Maybe Celine will send flowers or something.

I don't think she attended when Bette took over? She did do that video thing though so who knows. Anything can happen in Vegas apparently :P

I was thinking that the sound of Infinity resembles Love Story. Maybe it's not a coincidence. Lirically, Infinity is pretty much the opposite of Love Story.

I dislike this song...

 

From a lyrical standpoint it is just another break-up song to be added in the huge list of break-up songs she has recorded. What upsets me more is the lyrical content itself: The first cringeworthy part is the phrase ''Why you mad?''. I actually expect this kind of trashy terminology and grammatical failures from 15 year old kids that try to find their personality. It's just immature. And then she goes to use the word ''boy'' to diss the guy she no longer wants in her life. That is absolutely ridiculous. I mean, she is a 44 year old WOMAN whose little child is actually a BOY. Would it be so hard for her to direct the song to a MAN and finally get over the fact she is no longer in her 20s and relevant? The word ''boy'' was all over the place in MOAIA and I found it annoying even back then. This song seems to me like ''Up Out My Face'' - Part 2.

 

And before anyone tells me it is a fun song and not all songs are supposed to be deep and serious, I should remind you that the same person made great songs in her early 20s that were funny & energetic without being ridiculous (Someday, You're So Cold, Now That I Know...).

 

Musically, it is dated. Sounds like a leftovers from MOAIA or E=MC2. She has been stuck to a certain formula and she just doesn't seem able to produce anything interesting that would actually indicate some progress in her music... or personality. What is worse is that the song lacks a hook, it is pretty much tuneless and repeatitive.

 

Vocally, she had one good note in the end of the song which she will never be able to replicate live on stage. Other than that her voice is dry and tired.

As for Mariah not being in her 20s anymore, she's actually said that deep inside she's a 12-year-old. Maybe it was a joke...maybe not. What's more, there's probably a difference between Mariah and her stage self. Mimi, or whatever she calls herself, may be an immature diva. Mariah, on the other hand, is likely to have a slightly different personality than Mimi. Something she doesn't actually show us. So this could explain the use of words in her songs. As for the melody, this has been her 'signature sound' since she left Sony in 1990s. Again, this is more like Mimi than Mariah. I know most of us love 'the old' Mariah but what if she wants to be Mimi? It may be what she always wanted but Sony did not let her do back then. So when she broke free, here's what happens. Sadly she hasn't got the vocal ability to be Mariah anymore. She's gonna be Mimi forever..... cue song:
