Thing is... this is not about Mariah VS Mimi anymore... at least this is not the point I was trying to make... because Mimi has delivered great moments and records. TEOM, for instance, is a very good album. And her 2010 Christmas album had warmth and sensitivity, it was carefully done. I just think that she has produced some really garbage music the past decade or so and she has been wasting herself using the same formula. Which is not even successful at this point...

I wish Mariah would have continued to make great songs like "Through The Rain" and "Almost Home." I absolutely LOVE those songs. It's a shame she couldn't have kept evolving musically. "Infinity" honestly sounds, to me, like a leftover demo track from a past album. (And by past, I mean PAAAAAAST.) It could have easily been a b-side to "Honey" or "Fantasy." It would have been obvious as to why it was a leftover compared to those two hits.

Even though "Oz The Great And Powerful" brought in more than double its budget at the box office, the movie that "Almost Home" was the theme song for was given tons of negative reviews after it released. My guess for "Almost Home" not doing better on the charts is because of the bad reviews and lack of live performances of the song.

 

I'm happy to hear Mariah is getting vocal coaching. She needs it.

Mariah was over 40 years old so radios didn't support her. And the song was not even included in the Soundtrack of the film so it was hard for the general puplic to make the connection, unless someone saw the music video. I watched the film at the cinema and the song wasn't played at the end of the film. I doubt negative reviews have anything to do with the song's commercial reception.
