She is a living legend no matter what anyone says. I have to say I don't agree with every song choice/ style she has done, but even so one must be realistic, she's in a league where ONLY Whitney and Cèline stand along side her in my opinion. I wish her lots of success in Vegas. Agree with you. They are the trilogy. It's just such a shame to hear her sometimes when I think back to how she was. I do hope her Lv show is successful. I have my fingers crossed that her schedule isn't too demanding cos I know her voice isn't sustainable, touring wise. 2 Quote

LVCeline Posted May 11, 2015 at 11:49 PM Posted May 11, 2015 at 11:49 PM I was in Vegas this weekend and saw Britney's show, which was absolutely fantastic, although I don't think she sang even one note live the entire night, and also Mariah on Sunday. Mariah's show is really visually appealing, lots of fun staging and lighting, however she really struggled vocally. She lips the really high stuff as usual, but she had a lot of problems even with the middle to higher belts. I felt bad, her songs are so legendary, and the experience was still a lot of fun, but there were some cringe-worthy moments vocally. It was the 2nd night in a row so maybe that had something to do with it as well. I hope she gets better as it goes along, I think she'll have trouble just doing the 18 shows she's committed to at this rate. But I still loved it and enjoyed myself a lot. I'd still absolutely recommend it if you're a fan of hers! 5 Quote

Celine is always so lovely when it comes to other artists so why can't we be the same? With that said... I have mixed feelings about Mariah in Vegas. I was a big fan of Mariah as a kid. Her voice was truly mesmerizing back in the early 90s. And I was excited for her to have a big comeback in 2005, though I didn't love the new songs as much. I am also intrigued by her life/career as a whole. (The marriage to Tommy Mottola, for instance.) I wasn't thrilled about Mariah heading to Caesars because that's Celine's theatre. Literally built for Celine. But I got over it and was somewhat happy for Mariah to be making a step towards a stable career again. Hearing Mariah's vocal performances lately is kind of depressing. It reminds me of when Whitney Houston did her final tour. That was a disaster and should never have happened. Whitney had a few lovely performances in those final years but the voice, mostly, was gone. I remember hoping, with Whitney, that as the tour continued -- then her voice would strengthen and she would sound good again -- but it never happened. I think seeing Celine's contemporaries struggle as much as they do makes me appreciate Celine's talent/duration/work ethic all that much more. She walks in the footsteps of long-lasting performers whose voices have remained intact like Barbra Streisand. I wish good things for Mariah. And I hope that her fans will appreciate Celine's talent now that they've (already) seen Mariah struggle in Vegas. Edited May 14, 2015 at 02:31 PM by smw 2 Quote

I hope she proves me wrong! I pretty much agree. I can't be 100% sure about when she is singing live or not, but I do know that she sings VOL live. And it was a disaster on the opening night.
