LuisMa Posted May 25, 2013 at 06:05 PM Posted May 25, 2013 at 06:05 PM I watched it last night and I was I thought someone had done that on purpose. Was it really aired like that on the East side? How awful! Quote
québecflower Posted May 25, 2013 at 06:08 PM Posted May 25, 2013 at 06:08 PM wow! they edited the video , it was quick....like 3 hours difference? they made a good job. Now we have to watch the videos from east and west to be sure...lol Quote Plus qu'ailleurs , but now Si c'était à refaire , i still love tant de temps....
Si J'etais Quelqu'un Posted May 25, 2013 at 06:34 PM Posted May 25, 2013 at 06:34 PM Yeah, I watched that happen on live television. There's a camp of people saying that it was always meant to be playback for this concert (you can hear the recorded version in the background) and that Mariah was miming to look like she was doing it live. I'm not quite sure if that was the intention or what else it might have been, but it doesn't matter because it still makes her look like she doesn't have it anymore. People won't watch it and go "wow, her pre-recorded vocals aren't really coming in well, are they?" They'll go "wow, epic FAIL lolzzzzzz" I'm not really nuts about the staging of that song either. It's such a strutting, flirtatious song, I would have liked to see them interact more, be playful, have more fun. Instead she's sitting there and he's barely even looking at her for most of his verse. I really don't want to sound like I have nothing to bring but negativity when discussing Mariah, because the past week or so in here, I've been rather hard on her. Trust me, when the album comes out, you're pretty much in for a gush-fest if it's anything like Beautiful (which I loved from the first time I heard it). Quote http://oi39.tinypic.com/dzjgva.jpg

Bell Posted May 26, 2013 at 08:07 AM Posted May 26, 2013 at 08:07 AM Now this is just out of curiosity (and because I'm obviously a little bored). I've read that Mariah is classified as a soprano but she describes herself as an alto. What do you guys say? Quote 16 YEARS A FORUM MEMBER

GoldenLeaf Posted May 27, 2013 at 06:47 PM Posted May 27, 2013 at 06:47 PM (edited) ok im confused!!!!Fan Recording:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HsFgkYnKXY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HsFgkYnKXYThis is the explanation by a fan of MC :Re: amy – I was there when she sang this performance. For the live audience it seemed that she sang perfectly and hit all those high notes. This was because she had the very loud backing vocals being played for us. For some reason that loud backing track did not broadcast with the east coast feed. After good morning america finished airing we stuck around because she actually was going to see if they needed to redo the performance for the west coast due to some "audio difficulties" They didn't end up needing to and as you can see for the west coast they just made sure they added the backing vocal track that the live audience heard. I am a fan and I was shocked at this. No one is sabotaging anything. This is just the same old tricks that singers keep doing all the time. kind of annoying already. just sing live all the time. She needs to stop picking and choosing what to sing live. Edited May 27, 2013 at 06:48 PM by GoldenLeaf Quote
rakesh Posted May 28, 2013 at 12:48 AM Posted May 28, 2013 at 12:48 AM This is the explanation by a fan of MC : i would have rather if she'd just mimicked that, like she's (pretending to) sing it, instead of making that god awful noises!!!! im like, what in the world!!! Quote

Si J'etais Quelqu'un Posted May 30, 2013 at 10:54 PM Posted May 30, 2013 at 10:54 PM Two bits of news, the first from Roger Friedman: Mariah Carey has Tweeted her exit from Idol. And promoted the new video for her single “#Beautiful” which features Miguel inserting the word “f—in’” before “beautiful” as an adverb. What I do know apart from this cryptic message: Mariah’s new album was played for Universal Music execs in London this week, and they liked what they heard. The album is due in the next month or less, as Mariah prepares to perform at the Macy’s Fourth of July fireworks show. In August Mariah appears in the opening segment of Lee Daniels’ The Butler with Vanessa Redgrave. And from Mariah's rep: “The rest of this year is jam packed with Mariah putting the finishing touches on her much anticipated forthcoming album, headlining the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular and appearing in Lee Daniel's The Butler, opening in August which boasts an all-star cast,” Berger tells In Touch. “Riding high on the massive success of her unprecedented multiplatform, her new single "#beautiful" (featuring Miguel), she is embarking on a much anticipated world tour that kicks off this October in Asia.” 1 Quote http://oi39.tinypic.com/dzjgva.jpg

Si J'etais Quelqu'un Posted May 31, 2013 at 02:21 PM Posted May 31, 2013 at 02:21 PM (edited) I like "My All", "Hero", I Can't Live (??)" and "Whenever You Call". Nice choices. The third one is properly titled Without You. Whenever You Call is a BEAUTIFUL song. Something that I love about Mariah's first five albums is the fine line many of her ballads walk between their sentiment and their sound, i.e. many of them are in great spirits lyrically, love has been found, it's great, etc. But the melodies are so melancholy and even sad sometimes. Whenever You Call is like that, I personally hear so much sadness in that song, even though it's basically "happy." Do you like the solo version on Butterfly or the Brian McKnight duet, because I remember you saying you bought #1s, and that album features the latter. Also: I think Whenever You Call is one of the most colossal things she's ever done, and I sit on a fence, on one side of which lies the part of me that wishes more people knew it, and the other holding the part of me that's glad not many people do, since it gets to be "mine" in a way.
