First, "All I Want For Christmas Is You" reaches a new peak, moving up to number 25.

 

Then, as Bruno Mars' "Locked Out Of Heaven" spends a second week at number one, he has scored at least two weeks with each of his four chart-toppers, but he has a long way to go if he wants to reach the leader, Mariah, whose first twelve songs to go to number one spent at least two weeks at number 1.

Thanks for sharing that video. "Can't Let Go" and "Love Takes Time" are of my favorites. After the audience took over LTT and then she continued, she sang it really strong and powerful. Loved it.

It can be difficult to predict the level of success MC's new album will have.

Still, she has "American Idol" on her side and that's a huge asset as long as she uses her chance properly.

 

On the other hand, Christina Aguilera had "The Voice" and it did almost nothing (or very little) for her newest studio album "Lotus".

Yes, let's see how she does. For J-Lo, American Idol was a great platform, as she had a lot of success during her stay. But now, Mariah is not the only female judge, and I don't know how the scandals and rifts will play a bigger role than the music released now that the show is starting. I'm just listening to the full version -

. It sounds fresh and just a little...unexpected. I mean, I thought it would be some ballad or a more R'n'B track but this is kind of pop...and cool. Uplifting for sure. And her voice sounds great.

BTW, I have this (stupid) question (you see I'm just lazy and don't want to go through the previous pages to see if it's been discussed before). I know Mariah is the youngest of 3 siblings. I'm curious how old are now her brother and sister.

I had a Mariah dream last night. I was watching her on TV, she had a concert. She looked sweet with curly hair in a messy updo and a very simple black and white outfit. She sounded pretty good throughout the whole concert (even I can't remember any song) but at one point she started singing acapella (100% live for sure) and sounded amazing. She was not struggling to hit the notes 'cause she was not trying to go too high or too low, she just obviously felt comfortable and sounded effortless. It was a nice dream.

I have a Greatest Hits CD by Minnie Riperton, but most songs sound very dated to me.

 

I do love to listen to Shanice Wilson and Debelah Morgan. They have great songs and use the whistle note a lot too.

Throughout the 90's i was hoping Mariah would record it. But alas, no.

^ Shanice did an excellent version of Lovin' You. I even prefer it to Minnie's version.

If you like the song, you should defenitely have a listen to Shanice.

There's a videoclip as it was released as a single in 1991/1992 I believe.

She also did a superb live version at MTV around that time.
