LuisMa Posted December 19, 2012 at 06:15 PM Posted December 19, 2012 at 06:15 PM Mariah is mentioned twice on one of this week's Billboard articles about the Hot 100. First, "All I Want For Christmas Is You" reaches a new peak, moving up to number 25. Then, as Bruno Mars' "Locked Out Of Heaven" spends a second week at number one, he has scored at least two weeks with each of his four chart-toppers, but he has a long way to go if he wants to reach the leader, Mariah, whose first twelve songs to go to number one spent at least two weeks at number 1. 1 Quote

LuisMa Posted January 6, 2013 at 05:37 PM Posted January 6, 2013 at 05:37 PM Thanks for sharing that video. "Can't Let Go" and "Love Takes Time" are of my favorites. After the audience took over LTT and then she continued, she sang it really strong and powerful. Loved it. 2 Quote

Jeff Abbott Posted January 11, 2013 at 07:06 PM Posted January 11, 2013 at 07:06 PM It can be difficult to predict the level of success MC's new album will have.Still, she has "American Idol" on her side and that's a huge asset as long as she uses her chance properly. On the other hand, Christina Aguilera had "The Voice" and it did almost nothing (or very little) for her newest studio album "Lotus". Quote
LuisMa Posted January 15, 2013 at 07:44 PM Posted January 15, 2013 at 07:44 PM (edited) Yes, let's see how she does. For J-Lo, American Idol was a great platform, as she had a lot of success during her stay. But now, Mariah is not the only female judge, and I don't know how the scandals and rifts will play a bigger role than the music released now that the show is starting. LuisMa Posted January 17, 2013 at 12:04 PM Posted January 17, 2013 at 12:04 PM I'm watching American Idol. OMG I love Mariah's laughter. I agree with some comments online that the first show was more about the judges than the contestants, but I'm enjoying it. Quote

Bell Posted February 28, 2013 at 12:19 PM Posted February 28, 2013 at 12:19 PM I'm just listening to the full version - . It sounds fresh and just a little...unexpected. I mean, I thought it would be some ballad or a more R'n'B track but this is kind of pop...and cool. Uplifting for sure. And her voice sounds great.BTW, I have this (stupid) question (you see I'm just lazy and don't want to go through the previous pages to see if it's been discussed before). I know Mariah is the youngest of 3 siblings. I'm curious how old are now her brother and sister. Quote 16 YEARS A FORUM MEMBER
Davey84 Posted February 28, 2013 at 12:26 PM Posted February 28, 2013 at 12:26 PM I must say, this is the best song, I've heard from her in like for ever... I still don't like the way she sings The song itself is nice, but it does have a big Disney Channel song to it.... It could have been sung by Miley Cyrus or Hannah Montanna any day imo... Bell Posted March 2, 2013 at 10:59 AM Posted March 2, 2013 at 10:59 AM I had a Mariah dream last night. I was watching her on TV, she had a concert. She looked sweet with curly hair in a messy updo and a very simple black and white outfit. She sounded pretty good throughout the whole concert (even I can't remember any song) but at one point she started singing acapella (100% live for sure) and sounded amazing. She was not struggling to hit the notes 'cause she was not trying to go too high or too low, she just obviously felt comfortable and sounded effortless. It was a nice dream. Bell Posted March 16, 2013 at 05:41 PM Posted March 16, 2013 at 05:41 PM (edited) I was thinking these days... I've read that one of Mariah's main influences (especially about the use of whistle register) was singer Minnie Riperton. What do you all know and think about her? Ray Posted March 19, 2013 at 11:35 AM Posted March 19, 2013 at 11:35 AM I have a Greatest Hits CD by Minnie Riperton, but most songs sound very dated to me. I do love to listen to Shanice Wilson and Debelah Morgan. They have great songs and use the whistle note a lot too. Ray Posted March 24, 2013 at 08:12 PM Posted March 24, 2013 at 08:12 PM ^ Shanice did an excellent version of Lovin' You. I even prefer it to Minnie's version. If you like the song, you should defenitely have a listen to Shanice. There's a videoclip as it was released as a single in 1991/1992 I believe. She also did a superb live version at MTV around that time. 1 Quote Céline Dion Mariah Carey Madonna Lara Fabian Debbie Gibson Wilson Phillips Linda Eder Tina Arena Martika
