RomualdlovesCeline Posted May 26, 2011 at 06:16 PM Posted May 26, 2011 at 06:16 PM (edited) Gab, there's also a video (not bothering to look for it now) where she rolls her eyes when asked about Madonna. If you are talking about the "If Madonna would kiss you on stage, what would you do..."?, she only responded to "KISS" on stage not the artist. She never dissed Madonna. She just didn't want to answer Wayne Brady's touchy question about the ''kiss'' thing on stage. Quote

It's just the fans that put them against each other. I really doubt Celine is calling Mariah "whoriah" & vice versa. I mean the fans feel the need to have their own "diva" at the top. You can be a fan of music and see that what someone says is clearly an attack or a bite at someone else, and Mariah is pretty famous for that. She was being disrespectful in my opinion and it seems the interview, parts of the whole interview, was a bite at Celine. That's my opinion and there is no reason for you to be so upset or sarcastic at anyone for expressing how they feel about it. And you may think that because people are Celine fans they are taking it out of context and turning it into something more than it is and that can definantly be true, so I don't deny that, especially beings this interview is like 13 years old? but I honestly don't really care one way or the other what Mariah does, i'm taking this at face value. I respect her for her talents and what she did and can still sometimes due. Her little princess attitude is really gross, in my opinion and that has always been my problem with her. I think she's kind of stuck up and that ties into this. She freely has admitted that she is like that, talking about how she makes her bodygaurd carry her around when she doesn't want to walk, etc. which I kind of find funny, but thats a different topic lol Quote http://68.media.tumblr.com/0215da4dacb45f3375c9bf63cb89e9c3/tumblr_o3edqjdnpP1s2lrfeo1_1280.png

HELL NOO!!!Madonna, back in 1995 started it when she slammed Mariah & her music [possibly for controversy coz Madonna was havin a hard time selling albms while Mariah was a hot commodity those days]! when asked about Madonna's comments Mariah's reply, although had a dig, was rather funny, "i really havent paid attention to Madonna since i was like, 7th or 8th grade when she used to be popular; so i didnt hear that"Jennifer Lopez [with some serious help from Mariah's ex Tommy Mottolla] stole Mariah's music & rush released it before Mariah could release her material.Macy Gray said she wanted to punch Mariah Carey in the face Christina Aguilera dissed Mariah & made comments making some really questionable & opportunistic references to Mariah's early 2000 meltdown incident Mariah's definitely not everybody's material!! i know Mariah's personality can be a bit much [for some] ...outlandish outfits, infamous for being too extravagant & "diva"ish, wannabe little princess/mermaid attitude n' all that!!! as much as it annoys some i find it all interesting, entertaining & hilarious!! other than that, Mariah is not really like, "famous for attacking others" or somethin coz she is not . save that comment for Christina Aguilera Quote
RLAAMJR. Posted June 6, 2011 at 07:47 AM Posted June 6, 2011 at 07:47 AM Rakesh, that was what i think about the interview too. But Mariah said "hello?" as if like she's trying to hint us that she is talking about a certain person. Definitely the show would not show the part when Celine was singing with Aretha cos it would create a big issue between Celine and Mariah. and if this is an issue, mariah should have clarified what she meant during the interview so people won't be thinking that she was refering to Celine. And actually, i think there are some times when Mariah just talks a bit harsh like what she said like when she slipped during a concert. But then again, people are not perfect. Mariah may say a bit unkind but she just speaks that way and doesn't really meant to hurt anybody. yet then again, we have to be careful of what we say Quote

NO WAY!!!" she probably wasnt even thinkin about Celine. i mean, so far ive never got any rivalry vibe between Celine & Mariah [im talkin about the artists, not fans] ever!! so why would she want to make double meaning comments referring to Celine? ...and who would want to take digs on Celine ? even as artists, Celine & Mariah are 2 worlds! early 90s boring safe-image Mariah is NOT the real Mariah. Celine is a pop-classical singer with a rock edge; Mariah's true love is R&B. she makes contemporary R&B-pop albms to satisfy her older fans who like her ballads. when i first saw that interview back in 2003, i never even thought about Celine or got the feeling that Mariah was hinting on somebody. Mariah has a knack of blabbering while doing interviews; these interviews are edited; we can never tell what part they edited off. Maybe she did explain herself what she was talkin about.but hey, im a Mariah fan & obviously i would always tend to favor & defend Mariah ; so im not expecting u to completely agree with me "And actually, i think there are some times when Mariah just talks a bit harsh like what she said like when she slipped during a concert. But then again, people are not perfect. Mariah may say a bit unkind but she just speaks that way and doesn't really meant to hurt anybody. yet then again, we have to be careful of what we say" really confused here; dont know what u r talkin about!! ive seen the video of her slipping on stage... what harsh-talk did she do? i mustve missed somethin. GoldenLeaf Posted June 7, 2011 at 07:22 PM Posted June 7, 2011 at 07:22 PM There is a hell of a lot more to music than just the voice itself. People have the voice God given them - there influence won't relflect in wanting to sound vocally like another singer. The influence comes in the artistry and musicianship an artist has shown in their songs, their genre, and throughout there career. Aretha, Whitney, Mariah are high up.....Celine is at the very bottom. Her influence starts and ends with Charice. People respect Celine for her voice, but that's about it. Celine has not done anything "Revolutionary" in music. She hasn't knocked walls down, she hasn't created trends, she hasn't done much of anything besides release albums that people enjoy. To say that any of her albums have had an impact on how someone else wants to pursue there career is silly. Her albums have good songs, but nothing that has changed music. She has been a follower in every sense of the word....I hope you were joking. Quote
rakesh Posted June 8, 2011 at 02:41 PM Posted June 8, 2011 at 02:41 PM Mariah Talks Babies in UK's OK! Magazine IT'LL BE GLITZ, GLAMOUR AND KEEPING THEM GROUNDED Following the birth of her twins, Mariah Carey talks parenthood, hubby Nick and that nude photo shoot... Proud parents Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have finally settled in at home with their beautiful twin babies Moroccan and Monroe after a dramatic few weeks following the birth of their first children together. The singer had to spend an extra two weeks in hospital after delivering the twins, who both weighed in at just under 6lb. So when she emerged in a black Rolls-Royce with her husband when they drove their bundles of joy home from the hospital for the first time, Mariah understandably had a look of relief on her face. 'I'm feeling so blessed,' she Tweeted after returning to her pad. 'I just finished singing to the babies (softly!).' Here, Mariah opens up in her own words about becoming a mother, Nick's reaction to fatherhood and how she felt about her nude pregnancy photo-shoot... I could not do the having a child thing half-heartedly...I couldn't just be like: 'I'm having a child, yay, let me get a nanny so I can give her the baby - take the kid.' That doesn't work for me. I don't believe in that. Being a mother is probably the hardest job in the world...I feel like, in a lot of ways, children come into the world to teach us. It's going to be a delicate balance between raising them around glitz and glamour and keeping them grounded. One thing I'm sure of is that I'll be grateful for the twins every day, no matter what. I felt very vulnerable about taking the nude pregnancy pictures...But then I didn't want to miss this opportunity to document a once-in-a-lifetime experience. My ultimate goal was to share that incredibly personal moment with my true fans. Before now I'd never ever been to a baby shower...My baby shower was my first one - it was so festive! Nick and I were so grateful to everyone who came to celebrate with us. Nick is so excited to be a father...He already has this natural talent with children - they take to him right away. He's so nurturing, loving and fun. He definitely will be a hands-on dad. It was so much fun designing the twins' room...I had such specific ideas I wanted implemented. I wanted to create a beautiful, tranquil, cosy environment for the babies. Everything matches, but pieces are individualised to celebrate the twins as separate entities. I wanted to do more than cookie-cutter styles in blue and pink. We need to have Mother's Day once a week...It's hard to have kids in this world. I have so much respect for mothers everywhere, especially those who've had difficult pregnancies or given birth to multiples. You've gotta take care of yourself...You have to try and stay pretty, you know. My life is bizarrely healthy in some ways. I have to be overly aware of people holding the microphones. Singer turned into that know that if someone touches your microphone you have to sterilise it. This is one of the few times in my career that I've actually taken it easy...Well, sort of. I am looking forward to spending quality time with the babies and Nick, and that's our plan. I've been trying to hold on to a shred of privacy...It's been a long journey and it's been tough. But this is a whole new beginning and I'm beyond excited about it. Quote

And to be honest, nearly all of the people mentioned in your topic were "no-names" or people with minimal commercial success (to put it nicely). This have nothing to do with the fact that they were influenced by Celine. Honestly, I don't see any difference between Rihanna, Lara Fabian, Vanessa Hudgens, Josh Groban, Delta Goodrem or even Yuna Itō mentioning Celine as an influence. They might don't have the same level of commercial success but that doesn't change the fact that these singers were influenced, as individuals, by Celine. Whether those singers are flop artists or not, that's a completely different story anyway. It simply shows that some people are more lucky than others. So according to your theory that would make Celine ''a better'' influence if she had influenced Britney Spears and Justin Bieber instead of Lara Fabian and Delta Goodrem? That's ridiculous. Scramasboy Posted June 10, 2011 at 12:50 AM Posted June 10, 2011 at 12:50 AM Im not here for a Celine/Mariah fight beings thats dumb, especially on a Celine forum, but I know that Kelly Clarkson and I believe Leona Lewis both referenced Celine as influences, as has Shania Twain. All three are very successful. Though, in reality, many more people talk about Whitney and Mariah being infuences, mostly because thats THE genre of music for most successful artists of today, simply put. A RnB singer is most likely not going to be infuenced by a soft rock balladeer like Celine. Quote http://68.media.tumblr.com/0215da4dacb45f3375c9bf63cb89e9c3/tumblr_o3edqjdnpP1s2lrfeo1_1280.png

rakesh Posted June 12, 2011 at 07:52 PM Posted June 12, 2011 at 07:52 PM Famous flashback: Mariah Carey Mariah Carey was a big deal long before Nick Cannon, twins, and "We Belong Together" came along. She's been a diva for 20 years! And, back in 2004, she looked like a poufy princess at P. Diddy's 35th birthday party. Mariah wore this long mint green gown to the big event at Cipriani on Wall Street in the Big Apple and mingled with guests like Paris Hilton, Tara Reid, Bruce Willis, and more! It was Diddy's biggest party to date, and Ms. Carey was sure to wear her best tiara for the occasion. At this point in the singer's career, she was getting ready to put out her 10th album, The Emancipation of Mimi. People had sort of forgotten her 2001 movie flop Glitter, and she'd sold millions and millions of albums. Just two years later she was Forbes' 6th on the Richest 20 Women in Entertainment list. She met her future hubby Nick Cannon in 2008 on the set of the music video for her single "Bye Bye" and got hitched just months later! She gave birth to twins Morocco and Monroe on April 30, 2011 and we hear she's already back working on a new album - with a brand new tiara on her head, we hope. (Zimbio) Quote
rakesh Posted June 12, 2011 at 07:53 PM Posted June 12, 2011 at 07:53 PM Mariah Carey returns to musical roots After giving birth to twins Moroccan and Monroe in April, the singer is now spending some time on composing fresh songs. Mariah's husband Nick Cannon has been discussing what is influencing her latest musical offering. "She's very inspired by her early work," Nick explained in an interview with Perez Hilton. Mariah's past albums, Emotions and Music Box released in 1991 and 1993 respectively, are her major points of reference for her upcoming release. "She's been listening to her first two albums quite a bit," says Nick. Mariah is interested in reuniting with musical fundamentals, preferring to keep choreography and performance on the backburner for now. "Mariah's done with the dance. I think it's going to be good though," says Nick. "I think she's excited about being able to be musical and bring the voice back." There is no concrete date set for her upcoming album's release, but it is anticipated to hit stores in late 2011. (Musisrooms) Quote
