Oh, i agree with you that tastes matter. And i'm a fan of Mariah too. I own about every cd she's ever released and i went to one of her concerts. But the 'hibernation' period artists take does get on my nerves, yet it's bad if artists never take a break like mariah seems to do. There's pros and cons. :)

 i know!!!

its just ...its been a lot looooooong since Celine released her last studio effort!! i just wish she released atleast something non-commercial ....like a 2nd Christmas albm or even a gospel albm !!! ...or maybe a tribute to... or a cover albm like Tina Arena's albm, "Songs Of Love And Loss" !!!

the current trend in music is more like auto-tuned electronica dance/disco track [i wonder what amount of talent is required by the singer to produce one of those]; most of them sound almost the same. Celine's no pop-princess ...she more like legend, an icon!! so i dont think she needs to take the trouble to look like a try-hard wannabe mainstream ; i think its totally ok if she released another 'project' albm like "Miracle" ...only this time something other than lullabys

well, too be honest every celine album is a cover album lol lol. Mariah and Celine both need to release things that are more originally them than trying to appeal to the public. Like on mariah's recent albums she has all these rappers accompanying her and it just doesn't work IMO.

the reason i like Celine Dion is , she occasionally comes up with something ridiculously magical that her voice takes me somewhere otherworldly [ it sounds stupid but... :P ] ...the last time i felt like that was when i heard "Skies Of L.A." [gosh!! who composed that song??!!!]

i personally find Celine more of a pop-rock singer than a balladeer ...thats why i still find "Falling into you" more 'her' than any other albm; my least fav Celine albm would be "One Heart" ...a bit too teeny-ish for me

im ok with Mariah using rappers as long as it sounds good; some of her best works were with rappers {I Still Believe (Pure Imagination) [Damizza Remix] ft Da Brat, Bone Thugs n Harmony; Always Be My Baby [Mr. Dupri Mix]; Breakdown ft Bone Thugs n Harmony} but i agree, sometimes i do feel like her using rappers gets a bit too much!!!

my fav Mariah albm is still "Butterfly"!! "Daydream" & "The Emancipation of Mimi", a close second; i like R&B Mariah more than the early 90's Mariah.

least fav albm is "Charmbracelet" ...errr ...boring!!

the problm with "Memoirs Of An Imperfect" is , it kinda had almost the same sound throughout. The-Dream is a fabulous producer; but he's not great enough to make an entire albm!!! Mariah shouldve worked with more producers!! still for me, "Memoirs Of An Imperfect" has a special place coz i think "H.A.T.E.U." [the song; not the video  dear lord!!] is one of her best works ever!!!!

Adorable? She looks like an ugly version of Winnie-the-Pooh.

Being a Mariah fan, as well as a Celine fan, I appreciate both of their work. Like I've said before it's just my opinion :flowers:

Interesting, most people don't choose One Heart as their fav album.

Okay, about Mariah and the rappers....i'm sorry but they take away from her songs. she is fine without them. like the song heartbreaker, omg the rapping by..jay z i think...is soooo awkward!

Mariah Carey has chosen characteristically elegant and understated names for her twin boy and girl. Alan Corr looks at the wacky names that pop stars give their children.

The scene is the heavily-guarded junior infant's playground of Hollywood Junior High in LA. The year is 2017 and Moroccan and Monroe Cannon-Carey have just arrived in a pink, spangled SUV with tinted windows for their first day at school. The teachers look alert as the famous progeny are wheeled out onto a mini red carpet that unfolds at the flick of a switch from the SUV's dashboard and the school kids, well the school kids get ready to derive the maximum amount of fun from their new playmates' funny names.

This could be the fate that awaits Moroccan and Monroe when they rock for the first day in school. They are the new twin offspring of Mariah Carey and America's Got Talent host Nick Cannon. No doubt, they are both lovely children and their parents are justifiably proud of their darling new arrivals (a boy and a girl in case the names didn't give the game away) but how are those funny names going to sound when they grow up to be well-adjusted members of society?

We've all had nicknames in school and sometimes they last long into adult life. Celebrities save their kids the bother of earning a nickname in the first place and just saddle 'em with a weird name instead. Clearly it's in an effort to carry on their own fame and show the world just how damn kooky/different/unconventional they really are.

We might have expected this from a classy couple like the Beckhams (they named their kids Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz) but we would have hoped for something a bit more boring from Macrobiotic super humans Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin; they took the expression apple of their eye literally and called their firstborn Apple.

But it's the late, great Frank Zappa who wins every time. He called his kids Moon Unit, Dweezil and Diva Muffin, names that almost captured the spirit of the bonkers music he made. Not that the kids were overly impressed. "People think I'm wacky and they already think that before I walk in the room," Moon Unit has complained. "I spent hours locked away in my room. I was a complete hermit."

Zowie Bowie showed what he thought of dad David's taste when he changed his name to Joe Jones and moved to Ohio. Peaches Geldof, daughter of Bob and sister to Fifi Trixibelle, Pixie and Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily, has also made her feelings clear about her parent's choice in baby names.

"Why do the rich and famous give their children such ridiculous names?" she said back in 2004. "Mine has haunted me all my life, and will continue to do so." Peaches recalls being teased mercilessly at school with cries of "Oi, Peaches, are your parents bananas?" But she also knows it could have been a lot worse: "I was going to be called Angel Delight at one point," she said. "So I suppose I can count myself lucky."

Mariah Working on New Album

Posted by Lynn on Friday, 13-May-2011, 7:09PM EDT

Nick Cannon is still recovering from the adrenaline rush of welcoming twins with wife Mariah Carey, but the actor/comedian/rapper is staying busy with a new stand-up special and forthcoming musical album, while Carey is working on a new full-length of her own.

"She's planning on having a record out this year," says Cannon of Carey, who gave birth to Moroccan Scott Cannon and Monroe Cannon on April 30. According to Cannon, Carey completed a good amount of recording a few months ago during her pregnancy. "She's been working away, and we have a studio in the crib, and [the pregnancy] has totally inspired her on so many different levels. You're definitely gonna see some new phenomenal music from Mariah."

Yess...Mariah is already working on a new album and i think it will be something

similar that Celine did in 2004 with Miracle...Inspiration by birth of a child.

and love acourse.

Actually, this b*tch should stick to singing because when she opens her mouth, she only spews s*** all over the place; that's not the first time Mariah throws shades on artists; she did that on Jlo, Madonna [many times], and many other artists. If she's shy and that's the only way she gets through her shyness, she better zip it, everyone would be happier... Edited by RomualdlovesCeline

A. Calling her a b!tc# doesn't hide the fact that you're being quite ignorant and immature by saying that, without even knowing her. This is called double-standard.

B. Once again and, hopefully, for the last time, she wasn't talking about Celine and there's more to the interview than just this.

C. As for her throwing shade on JLo, I'm glad she did after what JLo and Tommy Mottola did to her. About Madonna, oh please, even the ever nicest and goody-goody supreme goddess of CDF Celine doesn't like her (neither do I but I'm not denying the fact that she revolutionized pop music and give credit where credit is due) can you please point out, which other artist did Mariah diss?

D. As for the fact that everyone would be happier just when Mariah would zip her mouth, its totally false cos we all know that there are wayyy more dire problems this earth is facing right now. And haters and ignorants don't help elevate the situation either.

*goes off to shake my @$$ to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B59JLDwkZdI and snaps fingers off at haters*

Love ya'll! :mwah:

I don't think so :

Nicest and goody-goody supreme goddess of CDF praising the great Madonna :

Clearly she doesn't dislike her.

Gab, there's also a video (not bothering to look for it now) where she rolls her eyes when asked about Madonna.

In addition to what Calypso showed you, when she used to imitate artists, she imitated Madonna alongside MJ and other known artists; Imitation is a form of flattery.

And yes, Mariah was throwing shades on Celine because in the interview, when she was talking about having a role model like Aretha, she said some artist have her as a role model or whitney houston, whereas the real role model is Aretha. She was talking CLEARLY about Celine because if you hear any early Celine interviews, you would hear her talking about being fascinated by Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston all the time.
