Me too, I love the pinkish look of all her clothes there, and the nice use of colour the photographer did for this photoshoot (sadly, it has never been repeated). The lighter blue makes it a little easier for the eyes I think. I made a comparison image. The left one if from Youtube, and the right one is from Amazon.com. That's only a matter of the different printing and inks they use depending on the zone they release the album, and if you look other of her album covers, it happens the same depending on where they were released. If you look close enough, it's not only the blue which changes from dark to light, but also the pink on her dress and the colour of her hair too. I particularly prefer the American printing because the colours are stronger and more powerful. I completely agree actually. I always got a stormy vibe from the original cover. That's why I liked the "refreshed" YouTube version. Suddenly A New Day Has Come wasn't dark and stormy anymore and much more light and fresh. It's still too saturated, but It's better than the dark hard blue color from the physical release. I've tried to edit the cover several times, but I'm just never happy with the result. I turned down the blue/cyan in this picture, but it looks too gray now. I like that the cover is colorful, so I don't want it to be too gray. And if I separate the skies and the ocean, both of them look out of place in the same picture. Maybe if I spend some more time figuring out how to make it look good. Both the ocean and the skies are heavy saturated, as if they added an extra blue filter over the original background. And because it's all blue/cyan makes it hard to achieve any depth when trying to make it look more natural in my experience. 1 Quote

Javito Posted April 23, 2018 at 09:50 PM Posted April 23, 2018 at 09:50 PM (edited) Sooo right, there are not only one nor two but three different photoshoots done for this album, I just watched the "making of the album" DVD feature and you can clearly see that they alternate photos from the Patrick Demarchelier photoshoot (which took place on January 30 and 31, 2002) and then there's another session, taken by photographer Andre Rau (the first and original one was unreleased, done by Melvin Sokolsky in December 2001). Probably you already hinted that there were two different photoshoots shown on the DVD, and I knew some of the photos were slightly different from the others but I thought they all were taken by Patrick on different days! And nope... (actually you can see the faces of the photographers on the DVD very quickly). Impressive. All this done for just ONE album, before its release, and in a matter of only weeks of difference (all the three photoshoots took place between December and January).
