"Taking Chances" ALBUM on the charts

I thought that the tour effect will be much better. The album is re-entering the charts for a week or two and dissaperas again. In Germany she gave 6 concerts without any effect on the charts. In the UK "Taking Chances" went up to #100. How poor is that? And she gave 5 concerts there. In France TC re-entered the chart for only two weeks peaking at #89. Another dissapointment after 6 concerts in that country.

It seems that the tour effect is much better in small countries where she gave only 1 concert. Denmark was the best so far.

What do you think?

 

I said if before, I'll say it again, that's cos all she did was the concerts! no tv shows, no big interviews, no nothing! This 'Taking Chances' tour isn't to promote the album it's to show Céline is still the best singer in the world, but not to make it clear to people that she took some chances recording an edgier album and is able to be more edgier on stage, but more likely keep relying on the fat chance that people will go and see her, cos she keeps 'singing' TPOL, IACBTMN, BYLM and MHWGO

She refused many TV show, interview offers. Only very few are exceptional. I think the only proper TV show she did during this tour is Yang Lan TV show, cause Yang Lan is her friend. And she only did very few 1-2 minutes interview in other places. Other than that, nothing. Good thing is seems it'll be changed during the US tour. She would go to Today Show and Early Show. Obviously it's to promote her tour.

yeah WHY did she refuse to do that? It's not like she's around and about every day with RC! And it's not like that would cost her a whole day! I don't get it.... oke of course I want her to have some free time inbetween the shows, but isn't she proud about this album, doesn't she want the world to know she's more then just a ballad singer?

Especially if you think Therese is already 81 and she wants to spend as much time with her as possible (it's noticeable how she spends more time with her mother than with René & RC)..

Celine has earned the right to take it easy as far as promotion is concerned. It's time for Sony to go to work, something it didn't have to do in the 90's when Celine was breaking her back to promote her albums.

This album is "dead" as far as I'm concerned. With proven no hit single coupled with Sony's lucklustre promotion and Celine's dwindling popularity, this was yet, another failed project from Celine in the tradition of Miracle & One Heart.

 

Hoping against hope tho that she will, one day, recover from all these career missteps and maybe keep an eye out for smarter music people and hitmakers, who can best guide her - people who know the damn music business well.

It is a shame that Celine doesnt do more promotion. If she doesnt advertise her new stuff then how are people supposed to know that she has got a different sound now. All I have heard recently is how she has been awarded the worst cover of the AC/DC track. That just keeps being focused on in the press. Celine needs to do more to change all of their opinions.

Celine still has a lot to prove, in my opinion. Not to me or her die-hard fans, but the general public. Everyone knows her die-hard fans(such as myself and the members on here) will gobble up whatever she and Sony gives to us. But the public is always ridiculing her for the tiniest things, and calling her one of the worst singers. She said that she doesn't need to prove herself, but she does to the public. She's already proven that she's an amazing singer, but now she needs to prove to the public that she can be more than the "Sappy Titanic singer who goes on and on about love and her son", and that she truly is the versatile and amazing singer her fans know her as.. Her fans know this, but the rest of the world doesn't. She and Sony need to work together to promote this album and this tour, by doing interviews, doing proper promotion, and not doing a tour and saying "That's our promotion!". I understand she wants to be with her family, but she can balence it. She doesn't have to go to 600 TV shows in every country, just maybe a few places where she talks a little bit about her album(and not her son ), and then performs one of the edgier tracks LIVE(like Fade Away or Eyes On Me).

 

That's why this "laid back, whatever I don't care anymore about promotion, i'm gonna sing just for my fans and be a mommy, I have nothing to prove" attitude pisses me off. She can promote her albums and tours well and still be the great mother she wants to be. She doesn't need to "sell out" and do everything she can to get a Top 10 hit, but some effort would be nice. The promotion and sales on this album are so dissapointing, because people think it's another ballad album, because that's her public image is, and with no promotion, they have to assume that. If people knew the kind of fresh and new material on this album, it would be huge in terms of sales and singles, and she wouldn't have to be a sell out. Insted, this album will go into her catelogue as another poorly promoted album and a failed attempt at a comeback. I would really like to see, for the US tour, the release of Fade Away wih a proper video and a smidge of promotion. That could really boost album sales, and promote her tour.

 

I love Celine to death, but this attitude needs to shift gears. She doesn't have to be a work-a-holic, but she should act like she cares a little about how she is promoted and viewed.

I think the problem is with the album although it did very well in comparison to the material in it.

 

The problem is not with the promotion!! look at ATW in the UK and LTAL/FIY/ADHC album they all are charted, so you can guess where the problem is...

 

Come on guys. Celine has to be more careful with choosing the songs... do u think that songs like a new dawn , a song for you, sky of LA, RNTTRO,IGNL deserve to be listened to apart from including them in the album???

i agree on most parts. except for the disappointing sales of TC. c'mon, at this point, piracy is everywhere, and the dramatic week by week decrease of cd sales, who can survive the game? only the sellable artists. 3.5M is actually a good sales, looking at some albums by high profile artists such as janet jackson, madonna and mariah who at this point sold less than 600,000, 2M and 1.6M respectively. the problem is, SHE DOESN'T CARE ANYMORE, SO WHO WILL GIVE A SINGLE DAMN TO THE ALBUM OF THE LADY WHO, AGAIN, DOESN'T CARE IF HER ALBUM IS GONNA SELL OR NOT.

 

3.5 is not a bad result, but thanks to her devoted fans who are buying her albums no matter how awful or beautiful the album is. after all, it still boils down to charisma, which she lost since she reside in Vegas. the problem isn't the bad promotion or the bad single choice, IT IS HER. i used to think that sony failed to promote her newest album and released a wrong single (which is partly true), but hey, the lady doesnt care. so now, who cares about her as well? it's her fans alone.

Exactly, that's why she and most big sellers concentrate on tour now. They prefer earn money for themselves instead of for the record labels.
