Two very popular pop singers released this song each individually, not as a duet.

 

She was, for awhile, the wife of another singer.

 

He was known for having a jazzier sound to his music.

What singer songwriter was most popular in the 70's and hit his peak with an album around 1981 that had several hits? In that time he was very much the stereotype of the soft rock, acoustic guitar, guy with a beard singer. I read recently that in the early 70's he was actually being considered to be a member of the Eagles, but that never happened. Although in the eighties and nineties he put out some albums his type of gentle, soft music did not really fit in with the new wave eighties. He's not a name that everyone would just instantly know but you'd probably recognize his name.

 

This is the biggest hint. Although he was only in his mid-fifties he died about a week ago of a long term illness. :down:

You have to read the entire thread... well maybe not all of it, but if you do, you will get the idea of what we do on this thread.

Someone gives a trivia clue and we try to remember the answer without cheating.

Sometimes the questions are OBSCURE, so we ask for another clue.

But if we have a TOTAL brain freeze, we cheat, as I did above -

mainly because I remembered the song, but couldn't remember the EXACT title or artist.
