celinedionsfan Posted December 19, 2007 at 05:41 AM Author Posted December 19, 2007 at 05:41 AM Here's another movie question for ya! This movie was a story about a woman who had a top ten hit on the charts and appeared on the Ed Sullivan show - the song was sung in French. ByuSmurf Posted December 19, 2007 at 05:44 AM Posted December 19, 2007 at 05:44 AM I need another clue! NOTHING is coming to mind. Quote http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y157/byusmurf/siggy12-25-05.jpg
celinedionsfan Posted December 19, 2007 at 05:47 AM Author Posted December 19, 2007 at 05:47 AM This one might be a bit obscure and was out in the mid 60s. Despite the fact that the woman did not speak English - or spoke very little - the movie was done entirely in English and the song was adapted into English. ByuSmurf Posted December 19, 2007 at 05:56 AM Posted December 19, 2007 at 05:56 AM About the only French actress I can think of is Leslie Caron? More than just "a bit obscure"?! Quote http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y157/byusmurf/siggy12-25-05.jpg
celinedionsfan Posted December 19, 2007 at 06:09 AM Author Posted December 19, 2007 at 06:09 AM Before becoming well known for being a witch, this actress had a role in the film and the star of the film gave birth to a daughter who became very famous for being a princess And the Ed Sullivan appearance was redone for the movie! ByuSmurf Posted December 19, 2007 at 06:34 AM Posted December 19, 2007 at 06:34 AM (edited) a movie Princess or a REAL Princess? Your clues are making me Edited December 19, 2007 at 06:40 AM by ByuSmurf Quote http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y157/byusmurf/siggy12-25-05.jpg
celinedionsfan Posted December 19, 2007 at 06:41 AM Author Posted December 19, 2007 at 06:41 AM A movie princess... I totally forgot about Grace Kelly being an actress who gave birth to daughters who are famous for being princesses when I wrote that clue -- BTW - Grace Kelly was not the the actress who starred in this movie!! Another clue... the woman who sang the original song in French was not pursuing a singing or acting career when she recorded the song or appeared on the Ed Sullivan show. ByuSmurf Posted December 19, 2007 at 06:52 AM Posted December 19, 2007 at 06:52 AM I kinda GUESSED that it was a movie princess... since I KNOW how you like to tease me and you KNOW about my Sci-Fi fetish... so I'm ASSUMING that it is Princess Leia! LOL!! Which would be Carrie Fisher whose mother is Debbie Reynolds and I KNOW you like Elizabeth Montgomery (I'm guessing she is the famous witch you are referring to)... and the only French song I can think of that has been adapted to English is Frere Jacques which has a religious reference - so I am going to GUESS The Singing Nun.I don't recall the premise of the movie or even recall Elizabeth Montgomery in it... but have a vague visual of Debbie Reynolds as a nun?! Or am I TOTALLY OFF BASE?!! Quote http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y157/byusmurf/siggy12-25-05.jpg
celinedionsfan Posted December 19, 2007 at 07:01 AM Author Posted December 19, 2007 at 07:01 AM (edited) Very good -- with one little mistake --- while I am an Elizabeth Montgomery fan... she was NOT the member of the Bewitched cast who was in the movie... Agnes Moorehead played Sister Cluny. Ricardo Montalban, Chad Everet and a young Katharine Ross were also in the movie. The name of the movie is "The singing Nun". The song that hit the charts was not Frere Jacques, but Dominique about Saint Dominic who founded the Order of Preachers, and the Nun who composed the song belonged to that Order. When I was in elementary school, I went to a catholic school and the nuns were Dominican so we learned all the songs from that movie! Oh yeah --- that is one of my favorite movies... ByuSmurf Posted December 19, 2007 at 07:08 AM Posted December 19, 2007 at 07:08 AM Was I right about Debbie Reynolds being in the movie? I remember the song Dominique ... but good gawd... that was WAY BACK in the day. I don't think I've seen this movie in decades!! Quote http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y157/byusmurf/siggy12-25-05.jpg
celinedionsfan Posted December 19, 2007 at 07:15 AM Author Posted December 19, 2007 at 07:15 AM Oh yes... Debbie played the lead and did her own singing, of course! So how about another movie... Two very popular stars: one male; the other female. For the male star, the movie was much different than his previous ones, which were typically filled with songs, --- more serious. You Needed Me - Anne Murray Back when I lived in the Great White North - Land of 10,000 Lakes (Minnesota)At one of our favorite bars (When I was 3 sheets to the wind) we'd put this song on the WhirlitzerAnd would change the word to YOU KNEEDED ME raise a knee (like the Captain Morgan commercial)during that part!!
