stevethefan Posted January 8, 2008 at 02:07 AM Posted January 8, 2008 at 02:07 AM (edited) "Man in motion" by John Parr from the movie "St Elmo's Fire" ? Although, I don't know if that was the theme. Edited January 8, 2008 at 02:07 AM by stevethefan Quote
celinedionsfan Posted January 8, 2008 at 02:11 AM Author Posted January 8, 2008 at 02:11 AM Yes that is the theme song from St Elmo's Fire - but the clue was for the the song lyrics that I had already given: "Won't you come see about me, I'll be alone, dancin'" and "tell me your troubles and doubts" Quote http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h24/celinedionsfan/candmsig8.jpg
stevethefan Posted January 8, 2008 at 02:39 AM Posted January 8, 2008 at 02:39 AM I think I FINALLY know this! "Don't you forget about me" by Simple Minds from "Sixteen Candles"? Quote
celinedionsfan Posted January 8, 2008 at 02:46 AM Author Posted January 8, 2008 at 02:46 AM Right song and right group - but - alas - wrong movie --- but the star of 16 Candles was in this other movie! Quote http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h24/celinedionsfan/candmsig8.jpg

ByuSmurf Posted January 9, 2008 at 02:35 AM Posted January 9, 2008 at 02:35 AM Hmmmm.... I don't think I watched any of the brat packer movies or listened to any of the 80's pop music. I really zoned out of the culture that decade... it was quite inane. Quote http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y157/byusmurf/siggy12-25-05.jpg

For about four years, when I was at school back then, I watched very little TV and I did not miss it! I should go back to doing that NOW. Edited January 9, 2008 at 02:43 AM by stevethefan Quote

In the mid to late 80's, raising a kid, working, living in MN and we didn't have cable TV, as we lived too far out in the boonies. stevethefan Posted January 12, 2008 at 02:15 AM Posted January 12, 2008 at 02:15 AM So... were you wearin' Converse or Keds when you were little? I'm trying to remember. I know the big names for sneakers then were Converes, Adidas, Puma...I know I wore ones called PF Flyers. Quote
celinedionsfan Posted January 12, 2008 at 02:19 AM Author Posted January 12, 2008 at 02:19 AM I remember PF Flyers I think Ked put them out... I liked Converse cause they had the most rubber and lasted the longest! Quote http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h24/celinedionsfan/candmsig8.jpg
stevethefan Posted January 12, 2008 at 02:28 AM Posted January 12, 2008 at 02:28 AM Yeah it used to seem so exciting to get new sneakers back then. It usually seemed to be, for me at least, in the fall when school started. Quote
celinedionsfan Posted January 12, 2008 at 02:30 AM Author Posted January 12, 2008 at 02:30 AM Of course there were not so many choices nor such high prices.... Quote http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h24/celinedionsfan/candmsig8.jpg
roubaix Posted January 12, 2008 at 04:23 AM Posted January 12, 2008 at 04:23 AM Great thread I remember: TVs with antennas. Watching Neil Armstrong walking on the moon in 1969-memorable day! Did anyone watch Zoom, The Archies or Flipper? The first year of Saturday Night Live- Killer Bees and Samurai Bar Mitzvah sketches 6 Million Dollar Man with the sound effects, Super Woman... My parents thought the Schwinn bike with the banana was unsafe so I rode the typical bicycle The roller skates that needed a key My room was filled with flower power stickers, ant-Vietnam war slogans , and Peter Max posters-I threw out all of them...found out a few years ago, many of his posters are worth quite a bit of money I watched ZOOM all the time - I could never get the zoomy language thing they spoke worked out though.... "Come on and zoom, zoom, zooma, zoom" Quote http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u34/cropperclassic/keep/celine.jpg
roubaix Posted January 12, 2008 at 04:26 AM Posted January 12, 2008 at 04:26 AM So... were you wearin' Converse or Keds when you were little? Neither - we couldn't buy "name brand" - I had el cheapos from K-Mart! I always wanted a pair of the Converse Chuck Taylors. Now the kids wear them because they are cool and retro - back then, they were it! Quote http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u34/cropperclassic/keep/celine.jpg
celinedionsfan Posted January 12, 2008 at 04:49 AM Author Posted January 12, 2008 at 04:49 AM actually back then they weren't even "named" they were just high tops and low tops Quote http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h24/celinedionsfan/candmsig8.jpg
