The only problem for the younger people posting is that they are obviously not going to remember or know about a lot of the things we talk about like typewriters, mood rings, pet rocks, pay phones....but they LOVE to make fun of us! stevethefan Posted January 21, 2008 at 03:51 AM Posted January 21, 2008 at 03:51 AM (edited) What's funny is I've always wanted to be a person that does not dwell on the past and trys to "live in the now"although I'm not really sure I've ever achieved that. It seems people think about the past or regret it, worry about the future that has not happened but never just live in the moment. stevethefan Posted January 21, 2008 at 04:03 AM Posted January 21, 2008 at 04:03 AM Alright you will not believe this but I actually thought of a new question....FINALLY! This is something I just read so it's VERY current. What singer songwriter recently (yesterday or today) passed away who wrote one of the Monkees famous songs "Daydream Believer." It's NOT Neil Diamond, he wrote (I think) the similarly titled "I'm a Believer." The guy himself as a performer had some songs on the radio in the late seventies, maybe early eighties. It's kind of hard because he's not that well known but you probably have heard of the guy. Quote

By the way, the answer to my earlier question is John Stewart. I guess he recorded forty albums and was a member of The Kingston Trio. Edited January 21, 2008 at 04:38 AM by stevethefan Quote
celinedionsfan Posted January 21, 2008 at 04:48 AM Author Posted January 21, 2008 at 04:48 AM I know the Kingston Trio as a group but not the individual members... never would have gotten that. I think they have had a lot of different members throughout the years. That group is sort of, believe it or not, BEFORE our time!I DO remember a hit song by John Stewart from the early eighties. It was something like "California Gold" or some name like that. It was on the radio a lot. Quote
ByuSmurf Posted January 21, 2008 at 01:42 PM Posted January 21, 2008 at 01:42 PM (edited) What sad news! Suzanne Pleshette - I really enjoyed the Bob Newhart show with her in it! John Stewart... didn't he do that song with Stevie Nicks (from Fleetwood Mac)? And I'm even old enough to remember the Kingston Trio! Bobby Fisher, legendary chess player, died this week, too. Yeah I guess Bobby Fischer gave up his citizenship to the US from what I read. He was living in Iceland. Quote
stevethefan Posted February 1, 2008 at 03:32 AM Posted February 1, 2008 at 03:32 AM I'm trying to revive this topic! What daytime talk show host had an extremely popular show for many years, starting in the seventies up until sometime in the nineties? The person is not seen too much now and the show was originally based out of Chicago (I think) but later came out of NY. Quote
