stevethefan Posted December 9, 2007 at 04:48 AM Posted December 9, 2007 at 04:48 AM Well she's been singing awhile, and she sang backup on tour with MJ back in the eighties, so it's not some really young person. I guess what I mean is that she is a current artist. Quote

LuisMa Posted December 9, 2007 at 04:18 PM Posted December 9, 2007 at 04:18 PM Now, who was the first act born in the 60s to have a number one hit in the US? Marie Osmond? Nah... can't be... if she's my age then she was born in 1959. No, it's not Marie Osmond. Another clue: though her song was perched atop the Hot 100, preventing a fivesome from scoring their first (which by the way would have been their only) number one song, this group managed to block her and her band on the Billboard 200 with an album whose title is similar to a Celine Dion hit minus an S. celinedionsfan Posted December 10, 2007 at 02:23 AM Author Posted December 10, 2007 at 02:23 AM (edited) Kim Wilde born November 18, 1960 had a number 1 hit.but strictly from a first one to have a number one hit and be born during the 1960s, that would have been Whitney Houston, born in 1963 who was the first of those born during the sixties to hit the top of the charts... and yes I did look up this information by going year by year (1970 - 1994) through the list of #1 songs and verifying year of birth. There are two more, and they got full credit on the songs they took to the top. Quote
celinedionsfan Posted December 10, 2007 at 03:46 AM Author Posted December 10, 2007 at 03:46 AM (edited) Well whoever they are they had to have been born between January 1, 1960 and November 17, 1960 if you are talking with respect to earliest date of birth. LuisMa Posted December 10, 2007 at 04:07 AM Posted December 10, 2007 at 04:07 AM (edited) Whitney Houston first hit number one on October 26, 1985 with "Saving All My Love For You." Prior to her, George Michael (born in 1963) was credited as a featured artist on Wham!'s number 1 "Careless Whisper," which hit the top in February 1985. Now regarding my previous clue: "though her song was perched atop the Hot 100, preventing a fivesome from scoring their first (which by the way would have been their only) number one song, this group managed to block her and her band on the Billboard 200 with an album whose title is similar to a Celine Dion hit minus an S", it was Joan Jett (born 9/22/1960) with her group the Blackhearts who hit number 1 with "I Love Rock & Roll" in 1982, preventing the Go Go's "We Got The Beat" from hitting pole position. Their album was "Beauty And The Beat." Edited December 10, 2007 at 04:09 AM by luisma4 Quote
celinedionsfan Posted December 10, 2007 at 04:11 AM Author Posted December 10, 2007 at 04:11 AM But Joan Jett was NOT born in the 60's and that was part of your clue about the 1st act born in the 60s, was it not?! Quote http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h24/celinedionsfan/candmsig8.jpg

Oh say it ain't so... cause all the questions I've asked have been things that I know and really do remember... not things I look up!!! And I know that Steve and Brenda are both asking questions about what they know and remember!! If you've been looking up information and then asking questions, then you're really not playing fair! After all... this is the I REMEMBER... topic not the "Let's Look stuff up and ask questions about it" topic!! I don't think it is as much fun...Yeah, it's easy to just look up things on Google or IMDB but it's more fun if you just try to remember it, even though at times this can be difficult! This group started in the late sixties, had most of their success in the 70's, had a few hits in the eighties and still tours. Their lead singer left in the early eighties for a solo career and had several hits on his own at that time, some as duets with female singers. One interesting fact about them was that their album titles, to this day, have been named, in order, by numbers from when they began their career. The name of the band is also part of the title. Their main guitar player died in the late 70's or early eighties. Edited December 11, 2007 at 02:39 AM by stevethefan Quote

stevethefan Posted December 11, 2007 at 03:00 AM Posted December 11, 2007 at 03:00 AM Wow, I would not have thought that someone would have guessed Zeppelin, but I could see how you'd think that with my clues. The main lead singer who left and had some successful hits in the eighties sang the theme song for the movie "The Karate Kid." I've never heard much from him nowadays. It's an American band and they have a lot of musicians. Quote

stevethefan Posted December 11, 2007 at 03:16 AM Posted December 11, 2007 at 03:16 AM I'll give you a BIG hint. The name of the band is also the name of a major American city! Quote
