celinedionsfan Posted December 3, 2007 at 04:40 AM Author Posted December 3, 2007 at 04:40 AM Gertrude and Heathcliff were characters in a comedy skit by a wonderfully funny comedian... who was the comedian and what exactly were Gertrude and Heathcliff? Quote http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h24/celinedionsfan/candmsig8.jpg
ByuSmurf Posted December 3, 2007 at 04:49 AM Posted December 3, 2007 at 04:49 AM I have NO clue? I've never heard of those characters... at least not that I can remember?! Quote http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y157/byusmurf/siggy12-25-05.jpg
celinedionsfan Posted December 3, 2007 at 04:54 AM Author Posted December 3, 2007 at 04:54 AM You might be too young to remember... Other characters were Clem Kadiddlehopper and Freddy the FreeLoader Quote http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h24/celinedionsfan/candmsig8.jpg
ByuSmurf Posted December 3, 2007 at 02:32 PM Posted December 3, 2007 at 02:32 PM I have heard of Freddy the Freeloader and KNOW it was Red Skelton but NO... not old enough to remember ever seeing him on TV other than in retro clips. Quote http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y157/byusmurf/siggy12-25-05.jpg
celinedionsfan Posted December 3, 2007 at 04:20 PM Author Posted December 3, 2007 at 04:20 PM Red Skelton was such a wonderful and genuinely funny comedian. Gertrude and Heathcliff were two seagulls. Red did a couple of specials on HBO back in the 80s. I am old enough to remember watching his show back in the late 60s. He used MunnaMunna (not sure of correct spelling) as his opening song and that song was also sung by Animal on The Muppet Show. We talked about Ken Berry.. we have already named two shows he was in... what was the other very popular show he was in? Quote http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h24/celinedionsfan/candmsig8.jpg
ByuSmurf Posted December 3, 2007 at 04:23 PM Posted December 3, 2007 at 04:23 PM I only remember him from Mama's Family Quote http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y157/byusmurf/siggy12-25-05.jpg
stevethefan Posted December 3, 2007 at 05:20 PM Posted December 3, 2007 at 05:20 PM I remember Red Skelton but not sure about those characters. What about this show....Early seventies. The guy was either a cop or I think a private detective. Handsome dark haired guy played the main character. The show title was one name and the characters last name. I have not seen this show in a LOONGG time. I'm not sure if they show it anymore. Quote
ByuSmurf Posted December 3, 2007 at 05:34 PM Posted December 3, 2007 at 05:34 PM Only good looking detective guy I can think of is Tom Selleck in Magnum, PI, but I think that was an 80's show.Hmmm .... another clue? Quote http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y157/byusmurf/siggy12-25-05.jpg
stevethefan Posted December 3, 2007 at 05:43 PM Posted December 3, 2007 at 05:43 PM This show was in the early seventies, not the eighties like Magnum PI. The actor is (or was since I'm not sure if he is still around) Armenian. The only reason I know that is because my mother's side of the family was/is Armenian so they always talked about that fact. celinedionsfan Posted December 3, 2007 at 08:29 PM Author Posted December 3, 2007 at 08:29 PM Mannix starring Mike Conrad and Gail Fisher played his secretary Peggy. Quote http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h24/celinedionsfan/candmsig8.jpg
celinedionsfan Posted December 3, 2007 at 08:31 PM Author Posted December 3, 2007 at 08:31 PM I know you all know what other show Ken Berry was in... so here's another hint... it was not set in the present time, but in the past. It was not really a western, but could have been considered a western though it was primarily a comedy. Quote http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h24/celinedionsfan/candmsig8.jpg
stevethefan Posted December 3, 2007 at 09:53 PM Posted December 3, 2007 at 09:53 PM Mannix was right! Ken Berry was also in F-Troop and Mama's Family. What was the name of the 70's comedy series that starred an actor who previously starred on probably one of the most successful comedy/drama series from the seventies-early eighties. This actor left the successful series but his own short lived show was pretty bad and the butt of many late night talk show hosts at the time. The actor has been deceased for quite awhile now. One big hint is the series he left to this day had one of the most, if not highest rated final episode in TV history. Also name the actor. Quote
celinedionsfan Posted December 3, 2007 at 11:44 PM Author Posted December 3, 2007 at 11:44 PM Wayne Rogers - and I believe that he starred with Lynn Redgrave - and I'm thinking the show might have been HOUSE CALL - but I could be wrong about the details as I never watched the show. Who are they: One went on to play the mother of a Judge. The other plays the mother of a spy. But in the 70s, they starred together. Quote http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h24/celinedionsfan/candmsig8.jpg
stevethefan Posted December 3, 2007 at 11:47 PM Posted December 3, 2007 at 11:47 PM Actually I did not even think about Wayne Rogers but that's not the actor I was thinking about. You are definitely on the right track, but it was another actor and another show. Quote
celinedionsfan Posted December 3, 2007 at 11:59 PM Author Posted December 3, 2007 at 11:59 PM Mclean Stevenson and I think the show was called Hello Larry about a radio personality. Quote http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h24/celinedionsfan/candmsig8.jpg
stevethefan Posted December 4, 2007 at 12:12 AM Posted December 4, 2007 at 12:12 AM Correct! What actor had a reoccuring role on the Waltons, than later starred in a very successful comedy show later in the early eighties, than had ANOTHER series on the same network in the mid-eighties (87-88) and most recently was on yet another series where he played the Dad in a family. Hint: Famous father. Quote
celinedionsfan Posted December 4, 2007 at 12:17 AM Author Posted December 4, 2007 at 12:17 AM (edited) Correct! Hint: Famous father. O jeez, Steve, I never watched the Waltons. I know the show and the main characters and some of the actors and actresses who played the main roles but that's about all I know. And you have yet to respond to my query! Who are they: One went on to play the mother of a Judge. The other plays the mother of a spy. But in the 70s, they starred together. stevethefan Posted December 4, 2007 at 12:47 AM Posted December 4, 2007 at 12:47 AM Still thinking about those "judge" questions. For my question, you don't even have had to watched the Walton's to know who it is. More clues. A few years ago he died very unexpectantly from a heart problem. He played a priest on the Waltons but was best known for his comedic tv show roles. Although I never saw the movie, he had a role in "Slingblade. The show he was most famous for in the early eighties also starred a very famous TV star who played the deputy on The Andy Griffith show. Quote
celinedionsfan Posted December 4, 2007 at 12:54 AM Author Posted December 4, 2007 at 12:54 AM (edited) Okay... John Ritter... I think he also had a guest appearnace on MTM show as the minister who married Ted and Georgette. I think of Three's Company as a late 70s show more than an 80s show. Another clue for you - the show was canceled and brought back. Both actress won Emmy Awards. celinedionsfan Posted December 4, 2007 at 01:07 AM Author Posted December 4, 2007 at 01:07 AM Correct! Tyne Daly played Amy's mother on Judging Amy and Sharon Gless has been playing Michael Weston's mother on Burn Notice. Who are Tyne's equally famous relatives and their well known shows? stevethefan Posted December 4, 2007 at 01:17 AM Posted December 4, 2007 at 01:17 AM I know one is Tim Daly of "Wings" fame and some current show I forgot. Quote
celinedionsfan Posted December 4, 2007 at 02:26 AM Author Posted December 4, 2007 at 02:26 AM Tim is her brother. One other relative played a role in a drama set in a hospital. Quote http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h24/celinedionsfan/candmsig8.jpg
