Koolan Posted July 30, 2007 at 06:52 PM Posted July 30, 2007 at 06:52 PM Timbaland To Work With Celine Dion, Duran DuranJuly 30th, 2007 | Author: Omar Burgess Rumors of top producer Timbaland's retirement may have to wait a little longer to be confirmed. When Timbaland told Gigwise he was ready to "throw in the towel" due to being bored with the state of the music industry, many news outlets falsely reported that he was done with music all together. But, after successful collaborations with Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado, M.I.A. and Bjork, it appears Timbaland has officially shifted his focus to Pop and may not retire. On their official website, English Rock band Duran Duran stated that their long awaited Red Carpet Massacre album, which features Timbaland and his protege Nate "Danja" Hills will be released on October 30, 2007. Tracks have been leaked from the album since December of 2006, and both sides seem optimistic about the album during an interview with Billboard Magazine. Danja was quoted as saying the band "sounds better than ever," while keyboardist Nick Rhodes said the band was "really inspired." It also looks as if there is some truth to the rumor that Timbaland will contribute to Celine Dion's upcoming R&B themed album. During a recent interview, rapper/singer M.I.A. passed on the highlights of a conversation she had while working with Timbaland on her latest album. M.I.A. was quoted in the Village Voice as saying, "He told me, 'I'm done being cool; I want to work with Celine Dion.'" http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/news/id.5511...ion-duran-duran Who is M.I.A. ? Koolan Posted July 30, 2007 at 07:07 PM Posted July 30, 2007 at 07:07 PM Here's what Timbaland said on the Village Voice: And he was like, "I'm done being cool; I want to work with Celine Dion." And I was like, "So you just want to make Titanic?" And he's like, "Yeah, that's what I want to do." In my career right now, I'm not trying to make Titanic. thevoice Posted July 30, 2007 at 07:50 PM Posted July 30, 2007 at 07:50 PM alright that's it - i had enough with this attitude of celine's new team - yes they r her new team!!!!!!!!!!!! NE-YO is there only for the money , TIMBALAND is there cause he got tired of working too hard and just wants to write some cheasy pop songs to trashy pop singers like britney and celine - what's next?!?!?!?!?!?!?! there r millions of not less talented producers and songwriters who will KILL - they will kill in order to work with her!! she is the best selling female artist ever yet people in the industry dont appreciate her. she should work with people who'll create their best work for her and not artists that r in for the money . omggggg how would we be able to listen to an album knowing that the producers treat us the fans as stupid people who listen to trashy pop music and to celine as just one more way to make big money thanks to us , her stupid fans i say - bring the official petition with the power of this forum not just against this producer or the other but against THE ATTITUDE against the disrespect towards her from the people who work with her - what do u expect the media to say when this is what her people r saying about her? why should people respect celine if she is not respecting herself enough and works with those people who think she is a d-list singer Quote
CSCfan Posted July 30, 2007 at 07:57 PM Posted July 30, 2007 at 07:57 PM Oh come on PLEASE! Stop overreacting like a drama queen. THIS is how the media/press work these days. THINK: if they really thought it would be UNCOOL to work with Céline then they really would NOT work with her, it's just simple as that. Would you?? It would only ruin their reputation. They're actually taking a big risk working with Céline....! Let's just wait till we're able to hear the songs, instead of jumping on them for every comment that appears in the press. Sheesh. thevoice Posted July 30, 2007 at 08:04 PM Posted July 30, 2007 at 08:04 PM ohhh no i think it's u being naive and not me being a drama queen it's not "how the media works" - those r things NE-YO and TIMBALAND said themselfs . i'm not being too dramatic here - i dont want celine to work with people who couldnt care less about her as a musician . one is there for the money and the other finds life boring after working with all the real talents out there Quote
Shamrock_1982 Posted July 30, 2007 at 08:09 PM Posted July 30, 2007 at 08:09 PM Guys,The press can print the truth and also some crap, or twist words/things.... lets not jump to conclusions!!! I was lucky enough to meet jt and timbaland 3 weeks ago backstage at the O2 arena in london at soundcheck before the first london show , and i gotta say timbaland for who he is and what he does and what hes achieved so far, hes soo grounded, fun, genuine and normal he was soooo nice to us, a great talented guy...on the other hand jt what a complete ***t.... he was rude, arrogant, fake, bigheaded, and just had no time for the fans who had vip access/competition winners to soundcheck, he just didnt want to know or really want to be meeting these people/us. So I dont believe timbaland 'if' he did say this, meant this in a bad way....in my eyes he cant work with anyone worse than jt... and if he does work with celine i think they've got alot in common, will get along and could have a few great songs 2 create on this album... I just wish I had of asked him myself, but we were all ushered along so fast, after the meet and greets...... i guess lets just wait for more official news/videos or just wait for the album then come to our own conclusions Quote
fred Posted July 30, 2007 at 08:15 PM Posted July 30, 2007 at 08:15 PM Chill chill chill. You can't by a petition force people to say this or not say that. If they don't respect her and she and the rest of her team still wants to work with them then the petitions should go to Celine and her team for stop being fools and get some self respect. Like it's said, respect is something you earn. And what's up folks?? How many of you haven't screamed out for commercial success when it comes to Céline for ages now?! And now she's desperatly trying to please that request. The problem is that Celine and her team are very old in their way of thinking, and sadly very inhibited artistically. Celine isn't known for singing with her soul, but I am convinced she can if she'll just drop this prestige thing and desperatly grasping after what she thinks is expected by her. Here you have your commercial album. Stop whining about it! I was afraid she'd team up with some hip hop producer back in 2003, it was a bit out of date back then looking at it critically, and it is completely out of date today. Sadly we are now waiting for an album with hip hop and r&b producers. Coz her team thinks it is hip. I have given up about this album long time ago. And about Céline allowing herself to be artistically free I have to wait even longer. But I'm ok with it, some process takes time. In the meantime I can only look at this project and since I have no hopes whatsoever at the moment it can only get better from here, and perhaps I like it a bit, who knows. The scenario could be this if we are very lucky: perhaps these producers themselves feels like evolving a bit and experiment and what other artist to use for this than an artist who is the direct opposite to their previous artists? The base on which they have to work on for experementing in style here with Céline they couldn't have found with their former artists, coz here there's no preassure, no preassure that it should sound super or be really great since if they fail they can blame Céline Dion. And by doing so perhpas they come out with a sound which is new and sounds really good. Now this is if we are lucky. /fred Quote Peace and love to all.

blue.grave Posted July 31, 2007 at 12:52 AM Posted July 31, 2007 at 12:52 AM Come on now, Celine doesn't have to lower herself to the likes of ignorant people who can't appreciate her music. Besides what people considered as cool today, will not be cool tomorrow. What is cool anyway? Well the way I see it is a point of view. And people can be fickle at times and change like the wind. One moment Celine Dion is all the rage and the next moment she is the butt of some cruel joke for people to jeer and mock. Well to hell to anyone who can't understand Celine's unique style and flare for her art. I'll continue to love Celine the way she sings, dance, and the other things she does so well. streep101 Posted July 31, 2007 at 03:50 AM Posted July 31, 2007 at 03:50 AM Why do we assume that Celine and her team wanted Timbaland to work with her and not the other way around? Could it be that he WANTED to work with her first? I took Timbaland's comment as meaning that "cool" is no longer inspiring, and actually boring, and that working with Celine would actually be stimulating and new. Moreover, music that is "cool" is not very good anyways. I also don't understand why people assume that this album (somehow tagged as an R&B album) is going to be commercialized, lame crap. We already know of a few tracks (like "I knew I loved You") that aren't R&B. Maybe this is just ONE track that will fit this style, sort of like "Treat Her Like a Lady" on LTAL. On the otherhand, I so agree with Fred when he says that Celine's team seems to be a bit old-fashioned, or behind the times. Isn't the R&B/hip hop thing amoung successful female singers over? If so, why would she put out an album, with the intent of it being commercially successful, knowing that it isn't popular anymore? I am hoping for a mixture of styles; and that is the impression that I get. Quote
