not at all, ABM is so worn out. But something like ANDHC, IA, TTWII, TLDH, PAMP or more recently LBEF (Le bonheur en face!). It doesn't have to be fully uptempo either but just a bit

I agree. I was expecting something mid-tempo and uplifting with a summer vibe. This new song is a bit boring to me. It's OK overall but as you previously said, it's not at all radio-friendly.

As for when she recorded this song, was it in 2021?

Exactly 🤩

Make this new single number one and show the love because it is giving me major 90s nostalgia

I guess some fans that are mostly comfortable with their Anglo catalogue desire songs like 'I'm Alive", "Flying on my Own" and "IDAN. ". Listen to French radio  ballads are accepted and slow tempo songs are appreciated. An African drumbeat isn't always needed to capture interest.

This is in the league of "S'il suffisant d'aimer ".

It’s true that as I don’t speak French might be harder to connect, but I do love many of her French songs, it’s just this one that I find the melody a bit like a lullaby… but I’m sure for the French taste it might  come across differently.

Maybe with few more listens I will love it!

Not at all, I love her French songs but something like TLDH, Je lui dirai, Parler a mon pere, Le temps qui compte, Le bonheur en face, Ma force (!) would be much better for a start.

I mean we've had so many slow songs like Recovering, Courage, Love Again that regardless how touching they are, they will never become big.

PQTME also has some rhythm and nobody would prefer Vole as a single, would you? This is the difference

I still remember that after the documentary  premiered, Celine's fans wrote that whatever she ever records, they would be happy, but of course it's a totally different story right now...I love this songs and I'm crying listening that angelic voice again ❤️🥹

It’s beautiful, the little nod to Les derniers seront les premiers brought a little tear to my eye. 🥹

Unmistakably Goldman sound and I think with her story an intimate balad is not a bad choice for a comeback single. Who knows, maybe it was her choice.

I totally appreciate the song and I think it’s perfect.  Yes, I wanted an upbeat bombastic return but for some reason this feels right.

Maybe this is a little wackadoodle or excessively sappy, but I've been listening to Dansons on repeat for a few hours now and I'm all emotional, so take this for what it is... 😅🥲

As I listen, my brain keeps hearing in this new track all the little riffs, note/chord progressions, and lyrical echoes that are reminiscent of other things in her repertoire:

- The ad libs at the end and Les derniers seront les premiers;

- “Dansons, pour être et rester droits, Parce qu'on se le doit" and Live for the One I Love;

- “Nos visages, nos bras, Malgré tout puisqu'on ne peut danser que debout" and On s'est aimé à cause ("Malgré l'accoutumance, tissée au fil des ans");
- “Pour tous les immobiles, Tous les sans voix ni loi” and Papillon
- The first little vocalization before the ad libs and the same from end of MHWGO
- The piano bit right at the end (3:00) and the piano bit from Mon rêve de toujours

- The general musicality and vocal quality of S’il suffisait d’aimer…

And lots of other things that I haven’t quite put my finger on yet… I know that JJG is just… like this. He’s always had little musical signatures that repeat in everything that he does like a red thread of continuity. But I can’t help but feel like Dansons is like opening up the treasure chest of her repertoire and all the memories from over the years and getting to take them all out and admire them again, feel the emotions again… It’s like a musical photo album or box of souvenirs. The more I listen, the more I love it and feel all the richness of it.

What other little details have you all noticed in it?

And also the two-syllable word "Dansons" sung like "Ziggy" 😉

If you listed carefully, Céline clearly sings the belted notes powerfully, it sounds like they were toned down in production as a conscious choice. Let’s remember she also recorded “Hymne à l’amour” in her newly rebuilt voice and those vocals were powerful enough. So it’s definitely still there, just not the choice for this song.

On first listen as a non French speaker, it sounds ok, but not as memorable as other French songs of hers.

It maybe a grower but… I love the end of the song… it’s very emotional and beautiful!

I do think the French public would love this as a single, but for non French speakers/so far for me it sounds more like an album filler.

Not being negative at all, just my review after one listen of what we have heard so far.

Would love to know when it was recorded as it was rumoured to be a left over from EUS.

Her voice sounds pitch-corrected/computerized in some parts. I agree that it's a bit weird, especially for a soft ballad. This concerns me, especially if she recorded this song recently. On a side note, I'm also a French speaker.

I’m Anglo and don’t speak any French but love her French stuff. And this to me , is simply beautiful. There is something so simple, tasteful and timeless about it. No gimmicks but pure emotions. Only the way Celine can deliver. It’s simply, perfect.

In case you haven't seen it so far: Translation of the lyrics:

Let’s dance, above the abysses
On the edges of the peaks
And leave the depths behind
Let’s fly, let’s waltz
Let’s dance, when the world trembles
On a single step, on a tightrope
Our bodies entwined, our hands intertwined
To forget our sorrows
Let nothing hold us back
Nothing hold us back

Let’s dance, above the great voids
Let our breaths guide us
Bodies in unison play violins
Let’s dance, tonight, there’s a ball
Amidst the stars against all odds
A sweet rendezvous
Let’s float forehead to forehead
Flakes on the horizon
Flakes on the horizon

Let’s dance, to stand tall and stay true
Because we owe it to ourselves
For all those who cannot move
For all those without voice or law
Because it’s pointless
Because you and I
Our faces, our arms
Despite everything, since we can only dance upright

Let’s dance, let’s invent our dizziness
Before we freeze
Like the hostile universe
An idyll, an island
Let’s dance, above the abysses
On the edges of the peaks
Let’s keep turning, since the world
isn’t turning right anymore

One thing I really love about this song is that, although it’s still under 4 minutes long, it doesn’t feel too short but rather like a whole journey—unlike most songs on Courage which to me sound unfinished.

Celine sounds great, to even have this song at all is a gift.

For me, it seems like a song that will go at the end of the album. It's a Nature Boy, a Trois heures vingt, a S'il suffisait d'aimer or a Vole... I could see it closing out the album and it just ends it beautifully and you just feel content. It's not something designed to blow a hole in the charts around the world or win her Record of the Year. I can imagine the English single will be more mainstream pop/uptempo.
