When I heard they were going to release a new song, I was surprised, but I didn't have any expectations. The song has beautiful, melodic lyrics, but it's boring. For a comeback, I think they missed the opportunity, and even though they say she doesn't need to provoke anything, she's still Celine Dion.

She needs a strong single, whether in English or French. After the song is released, I'm afraid these shows will be like the summer shows in Paris; if they are like that, the critics will come down hard.

I read here and there from critics that her voice is less agile. Not the same. 
 

honestly if she wouldn’t have made public her illness would it be the same ? Many songs on Courage and Encore un soir are more problematic but it was before. When she was untouchable.

I agree about Jean-Jacques Goldman. I think it’s just marketing and they chose the song because of his name. However, Céline will get publicity regardless because she’s Céline, so I don't think it's a missed opportunity. I just don't think it was the best choice, but like I said, the song is beautiful and Céline is back, so that’s all that matters.

I agree with this actually. I’ve seen journalists, critics, and members of the general public make comment on her vocal condition in the song, nitpicking here and there- but most of whom were saying that on Courage she was in “full voice” and had “classic Celine vocals”, which I think a lot of us would agree was not the case at all. Though I suppose this is an unfortunate side effect of her public disclosure of her condition; everyone will now be looking for even an inkling of her not being in primo condition and will point it out, when really she should be getting more grace than ever before.

With all due respect, who cares about Spain? Last time a Celine album did well there was 24 years ago. This is a francophone release that reached #1 in France YT already. Are we really going to evaluate the song based on the alleged reaction of micro markets? Like what is next? Me doing a research on Greece and feeding that to the forum?

Her voice now is stronger and more pleasant-sounding than it’s been at any point in the last 10 years. If anything, it’s precisely a return to more of a classic Céline sound (admittedly from the early 2010s) rather than a departure from that.

You mean the 2016 summer shows? What on earth was wrong with those? Some of the best shows she’s ever put on! I’d love it if we got shows similar to those.

I put the total YT views of 'Dansons' on ChatGPT and it estimated that the song is going to debut on Spotify with 120k - 250k streams. Let's see if it gets that right! 😁

The more I listen to Dansons, the more I think, could this be the “encore” song for the show.  Almost like she used Vole in 2016.  She could extend the adlibs portion as she slowly walk away and have the lights fade.

I'm so curious to see what the numbers will look like. I made a free account on soundcharts.com. It's too early for real statistics there mostly (plus free accounts apparently don't have access to a lot), but what I can see so far is:

- it's gotten 516 radio plays in France (versus 92 in Canada, and 54 in Belgium)
- on Apple Music (looks like the only platform reporting so far), it's number 3 in the category of pop music in France (43 in both Belgium and Switzerland), and number 25 out of all genres (13 in Belgium, 25 in Switzerland)

The really should spend their coins on playlisting instead. I assume this is just a buzz song since they aren't really doing anything much to promote the song.

I don’t think they spend money on the streaming billboards, it’s pretty standard for them to promote new music on Fridays every week.

I feel they chose this song not because they need nor want a global #1 hit, it's more of a statement.  You may argue they should aim for commercial success,  but they already achieved it with the sold out concerts.  

I look forward to hearing her perform this live and also look forward to the other new songs. Will also be curious how she will perform her previous hits, whether they will have brand new arrangements customized to her current vocal artistry. 

Many people said they are here for the tree and accept whatever it offers.  We shall see who really meant it.

I've noticed she often draws attention past herself and to her music instead. Like pulling the focus off herself and on to the messages in her music for people, an amazing humble person who is here to serve others with her gift. Rare qualities that shows up a good person.

It's like she's humbly saying 'I'm back' I've been through that much, I know what life is really about, let's keep going, encouraging and uplifting each other in this crazy world rather than standing on a roof top saying "I'M BACK GUYS!!! WHOOOO HOOOO LETS HAVE A PARRRRRTTYY!!!" 

I don't know,  maybe the next single or the album or the concerts will say something different but this current new music and video looks like a humble approach 

It's also like she's more sober now with her health balanced and in hand and clear headed after living on way too much valium...

She doesn’t need to be promoted by newspapers to achieve a hit nowadays especially in this context, where people have waited so long for a new music. She could score another #1 in France easily with this song due to the impact of people streaming this song. As far as I’m concerned, I mostly saw positive comments for this song including from those from Spain (because they commented using Spanish language). And again, this is a French language song so the focus isn’t on non-Francophone language. I hope you understand what I’m saying here.

I don’t understand why you said “the song simply conveys nothing” when there’s so many members here already discuss about the song’s potential meaning, such as inviting the listeners to dance again after her long hiatus. I’d love to hear your opinion about songs like “J’attendais” “Papillon” “Mon homme” which all musically similar to “Dansons”. Are they also dull and boring to you as well? About the supposedly unreleased duet, I’d love to know where did you get that information or can you provide any proof that she actually did it? 

Sorry, I’ve tried to be nice but your comment kinda strikes my nerves here. Hate to ruin the fun for some people who’s celebrating this new song.

I guess they wanted to go with something slow, and of course in collaboration with JJG. Also kind of feels like they just released it because his name is attached to it, for instant succes.

Overall happy to have new music and that she sounds like Celine.

I've been thinking about it and I think you're right. I also think this song represents the new Celine better, who is much more private (quiet) than the "open book" we used to know when René was around. It's definitely a new chapter.

They're talking about "Dansons" starting at 2:22. Basically, they're saying they don't like it, and overall, opinions on the web are divided.
