Another take away from this preview is that her sounding "more" nasal over the years was not just because, as people have repeatedly pointed out, it was a "french" or "quebec" thing... but also SPS also had something to do with is as she was deliberately trying to sound nasal to get around the vocal restrictions that SPS has been doing to her body.

 

This is what I already mentioned and brings a lot of answers to me. 2008 is when her voice switched. It was not only nasal but she started to totally change the way she sings, with those weird specific sound which always sounded for me as something coming from a physical disorder and not from natural ageing. Something to bypass a physical problem.

Hoda just did another preview on the 3rd hour of Today show… said Celine was taking insane amounts of Volume (that could’ve killed her) in order to sing.

 

Will have preview shortly. I wonder when that was before or after Rene passed.

Hoda just did another preview on the 3rd hour of Today show… said Celine was taking insane amounts of Volume (that could’ve killed her) in order to sing.

 

Valium? Interesting.. this is the first line treatment for SPS (diazepam). So it sounds like she was on it even before her diagnosis mellow.gif

Oh wow. Valium / Diazepam is one of the medications commonly used to treat SPS as I recall, but... imagine if she had overdone it and not gotten to the root of the issue.

Valium is in general used to treat muscle spasms too. I've seen it often prescribed to patients with spasms when watching House MD recently giggle.gif . So it's possible they had given it to Celine before they knew it was SPS. Maybe it's what helped them realize the diagnosis because in one paper about SPS, I read that a positive reaction to diazepam itself can be considered a symptom of SPS, and it might have led them to test Celine for GABA (as Hoda mentioned they found something in her bloodstream).

So, in this segment we heard that Celine was so scared about going out to watch her sons golf, etc. that she just stayed home.

Hoda also asked what song most describes this period of her life during this battle with SPS... Celine said Courage. blownose.gif

That was obvious… any “fan” would think that to themselves if their show was that week, Celine canceled it and that same day the concert should’ve happened she’s in public. People woulda thought she was full of it. They should’ve canceled ALL dates the day she came out with the diagnosis instead of delaying them before finally canceling.

No I don’t think it is obvious. It’s one thing to be walking out publicly, and it’s another to sing like Celine Dion night after night on tour. Would we really have said oh Celine is not sick because she was at a golf game? I wouldn’t.

 

The fact she did this thinking of the fans feelings and not just got on with her life is incredible. Astonishing Incredible.

 

Just when I think I can’t love this woman more….. wow
