Interview Hoda Kotb and Céline - NBC NEWS EXCLUSIVE

To be fair, her appearance really changes from one day to another. Just look how much better she looked when she met with Cirque Du Soleil compared to that interview. I remember being surprised how great she looked when she returned in May 2018 after ear surgery. Compared to the end of 2017 or even 2016 she looked a thousand times better and younger. I guess hair, makeup and rest/sleep play a big role.

she looked so beautiful at the recent grammys !!

A couple of days ago there was a item on Dutch television with a SPS patient.

She could function 'normally' with medicine for a couple of years

But later on it eventually got worse.

When I see this clip I also think gurll why comeback? Just be at home with the family. We will understand.

At the same time maybe she knows that this is her at her very best she can get health wise, and who knows what the future will bring. So she will want to get on stage as soon as possible, before it 'maybe' will get in worse in years to come.

with all respect, but when you have a frantic work schedule since you were 12, you just can't be at home and do nothing for a long time.

what is she going to do ? everything is done for her by house staff etc, she said she doesn't have a lot of friends, she could go crazy from boredom

she is too "addicted" to the limelight and stage and people's admiration (watch denise bombardier interview) and singing

she just doesn't know any different

for better of for worse

I'm sorry but who on Earth did her hair and makeup for this interview? Yes I'm bringing this up. Did they purposefully make her look bad?

Don't shoot me but she didn't look like this in recent outings or the Grammys. It's a prime time special!

Kev x

I know, her hair and makeup is always so hit and miss...it's a shame for someone of her stature and resources

She said in the Vogue interview (https://www.vogue.co...ailer-interview) that she has had symptoms for 17 years.

Confirmation of her having had symptoms for a long time can help us put to rest these awful cynical notions that we see online that she's "suffering from a broken heart" and that Rene's passing triggered all of this.

Can anyone please record the interview for people who live outside of US and then post a link ?

That would be great since it’s a nightmare to get access to nbc.

Interesting to hear her acknowledge she was trying to be a hero after Rene passed away.

It was so obvious to us she was overworked and trying to plough through and throw herself into work to deal with everything. Good to see her face up to that. As she also said in the Vogue interview, “I no longer wanted to be brave. I had tried as long as I could. It was time for me to be smart.”

As some have said here in the past, this time away was clearly not just a physical reset but a mental one, too.

I agree, but… Correct me if I’m misunderstanding, but did she say the lying was too much? Or that lying would be too much? The way they are wording it almost sounds like she knew about her diagnosed way before it was announced And she considered “lying” for a while.

I took it to mean pretending everything was OK and she could push through it.

Yeah that she didn't stop after he passed to find out what was wrong because felt needed to be strong for her kids and even her fans. In some ways Covid was a blessing for her it made her stop and acknowledge what was happening and figure out what it was.

It wouldn’t surprise me if we find out during the interview or the documentary that the signs of her SPS… Became even more evident during parts of courage world tour and that’s probably what she meant, about she should’ve stopped sooner.

Do we know is the ring on her ring finger from her marriage to Rene? It is not the ring she wore in the 90s as it is thinner than that. Just interesting she wears it on her ring finger if not a wedding ring. First I remember seeing it was in Love Again. Then saw it in the Christmas greeting in 2022. Now when out with her kids see her wear it as well. If from marriage to Rene wonder why started to wear again years after his passing.

I know multiple people who are aren’t rich like Celine that have multiple wedding rings/bands.

I know this is just my opinion but I have been waiting this level of sincerity from Celine in years! There was always something lacking in her interviews, especially after Rene died. I love how she admits she was trying too hard to please everyone and act like on top of things. Happy that she saw this was unhealthy for her.

Really, really looking forward to this interview and th documentary!

so true, she looks so thin here that it made me hold my breath a split-second when I saw the clip (and her dark makeup didn't help), but looks healthier in recent candid pics, so, I give up. Best (most normal) for me was her weight during the BB Icon Award, but I guess she didn't like it as she shed the weight pronto soon after :(

The earlier posted clip about the ribs

Anybody else find it Weird Celine’s team hasn’t advertised this prime time special at all yet? It’s tomorrow night. And morning for that matter.

Hoda's word choices struck me as a little odd in the previews we've gotten. First she said "She hasn't toured in years and years and people wonder what has happened to Celine Dion." Then "I didn't know what had happened to her, she had something called Stiff Person Syndrome..."

She makes it sound like it's been decades since Celine has toured lol. It's been (a long) 5 years. And she makes it sound like she was completely in the dark about Celine's diagnosis until a few weeks ago...and she still HAS the condition, Hoda hi.gif

Hahaha I think Hoda gets caught up in what she can and cannot say without revealing all the 'news' of the interview. But it is confusing alright.

It's a paradox, but sometimes it takes the body getting seriously ill for the spirit to have a chance to recover. I too was disturbed by something in her interviews. I don't know quite how to define it. Maybe the constant “positivity” (which so many admired), which seemed to me unreliable and forced. The more often she said that everything was great, the more I felt like saying - “Why are you trying so hard and straining? Take off your armor, loosen your grip, it will be easier for you to breathe." I'm glad that Céline herself called it a lie, and I'm very much rooting for her on this new path.

I don’t think that part of Celine was lie… I think she just loved being the quirky aunt who sings in interviews. I could hardly watch her interviews for that reason. I’m glad that this interview is going to be done in a professional manner and Celine will give the subject of the interview the respect it needs and stay serious. But I can already guess we get some of her signature moments too but in a interview like this will probably be needed after the long discussion of her health.
