Good job they cracked the case of lipping at a major event which has 100% never happened before.

Well after 20 years on here, of enduring some amount of s*** from the same members time and again, moaning about Celine’s past performances, her poor choice in setlists (even though you’re expectations were beyond realistic), her poor vocals, her lack of artistry, I could go on, you’ve finally broke me.

I will not be referred to as ‘it’ by anyone and will not have someone basically compare me to some crazy online troll, I’ve literally posted a mere 700+ posts over the course of all those years, without ever insulting anyone or belittling someone’s opinion. I’ve merely stated an opinion that I believe to be accurate about a live vs lipped performance that the woke society of today clearly don’t like. I have never once stated any disappointment in Celine on here although it’s a forum, for debate and discussion, isn’t it. We don’t all need to agree on every little thing but there’s absolutely no need to get personal and just down right rude. And a word of advice if you’re going to throw some shade at least own it and name names.

The most staggering thing about this whole Olympics debate being the 2015 vocals, is that it was started by none other than jpatdeleon09 when you uploaded that side by side Soundcloud file. You lit the torch paper so to speak, gave your opinion that it was indeed the same vocal then totally backtracked when the hate started. I hadn’t really considered it before that but at least I had the conviction to stick with my beliefs, no matter who agreed with me or the hate I got for it. You’ve proven yourself to be fake and a sheep with your actions.

I will miss some forum members and some of the healthy discussions but as for the rest of it, I could care less.

I do not even think the pronoun 'it' was in reference to you as a person, but rather in reference to the experience of reading your posts. At least, this is how I read it.

But each to their own, I guess. giggle.gif

Nobody referenced you as an “it.”

And yes, my comparison was to you, as you seem to incessantly post the same opinion over and over again. Much like who I compared you to. The only difference between you two is that you use better grammar, and don’t use unhinged capitalized text.

Neither the Olympics or Billboard performances were live. End of. Both were constructed and tidied up from previous live performances. The Olympics from 2015’s AMA’s and Billboard from a previous hybrid live performance of The Show Must Go On, likely from Vegas. This is why, with the Olympics particularly, that people keep saying she’s clearly singing into a mic as you can hear her moving closer to it and pulling away at high notes because it was taken from a fully live performance. Incidentally that technique is something she fails to do when miming and even here the fading of the vocal that we hear doesn’t match her physical movements during her performance. Incidentally, the failure to do this action physically while miming along with the over quivering of the mouth, are two of the main giveaways to tell when she is in actual fact miming.

This is why as far as I’m concerned, the reason she didn’t release this performance straight away and also why the AMA’s performance, widely available on YouTube for years, suddenly disappeared after her Olympics performance.

I can’t believe this is still being dissected and torn apart after all this time, probably would’ve been better leaving it unreleased to be honest. Who cares anyway as all performances at global events such as the Olympics are generally lipped and to whatever track, whether people believe it was a recent recorded performance are irrelevant, she turned up, proved to the general public that she’s not giving up on her career and it will go down as a showing of pure resilience and forever be an iconic moment in her career.

Your AMA theory is conspiracy theory level nonsense. Seriously. End of.

Agreed! And having her classic logo back is perfect.

It’s wonderful to have the performance on her official channels.

This is one of the most epic performances by any artist ever.

The song is doing very well in the charts. Obviously, in my opinion, it is an epic and historic performance and all that it represents. It will have very good streams. It's just a matter of time.

The world will not forget this sublime performance.

I will always have the memory, all the feelings I felt when I saw Céline performing on the Eiffel Tower in front of many people attending the ceremony and the rest of the world watching her on TV (after such a long time of struggling with the condition we all know).

I still cry when I see the performance, it is wonderful what Céline was able to convey with her great gift. The look on her face while she was singing, the emotion, to see her so dedicated, to see her dream coming true to perform in front of an audience again.

This has brought so much life to her and to me as well.

I am so proud of her, so happy to be her fan and to have her for a role model.

This is the beginning of a new era, let's enjoy it and all that is going to come. From my point of view, since now, everything Céline does and will do in the near future will be a great gift to us. She is more than happy and ready to continue her epic, sublime career.

A big hug to all of you.

This release came way too late people, way too late! Everyone (including me) lost interest. I would dig it right after her Paris performance, but now I moved on just as the general public did. I honestly didn’t even listen to the full official version yet cause it’s done and dusted Edited by ryba

It did come late but let’s not detract from how epic this moment was. It will be remembered in the hearts of millions for years to come. Do you not listen to her other songs more than once or look back at her past performances?

Glad that she did it on Eiffel Tower this will cement to the minds of people for a very long time. Very iconic!

Exactly. YouTube was not even a thing back in the day of some of her most iconic performances, neither were streaming services. Videos of those were uploaded many years later and people watch and enjoy them just as well, and they garnered many views or streams out of the sheer greatness of the performance, regardless of the timing of the upload. This will be the same.

iTunes #1 in a total 7 countries, now including Sweden. That is 3 months after the performance with barely any promo.

I am starting to believe they missed the opportunity at an international smash. mellow.gif

Definitely! I guess we'll never know why they waited 3 months. :(

Yes! That said, the VEVO upload gained around 50k views during the last 7-8 hours and it's a Sunday - the day when streams drop.

I think it will slowly and steadily get up there!

It would have been insane.

Don't think there will be another occasion where a performance could have such impact worldwide.

I purchased the single from iTunes yesterday. I really wish this would have happened one or two days after the Opening Ceremonies concluded. I'm sure there were contractual blockades which prevented her team from releasing the song at that time. It still sucks, though. Her team should have negotiated to allow the sale and streaming of the performance much earlier than last week. She could have had another worldwide, smash hit if things had been handled differently. And the music industry still wonders why bootlegging and pirating is still such a problem. (insert the rolling of my eyes here)

She may have made a conscious decision to wait, perhaps she felt she would be as though she was only there for her own gain rather than to celebrate the Olympic spirit and the athletes who worked their butts off to get into the games. Doesn't seem out of character for her.

Doesn’t this happen when she’s performing at awards show? They don’t upload it right away.. Maybe there’s rights (not sure the right term) that preventing them to upload it right away?

I’m convinced this 3-month wait was due to the rights of the song being bought or licensed between the Olympic Comitee and Sony. Should they have thought of this in advance and work on this before to release the single earlier? Of course, but we’re talking about Sony here… lol

I think they gave Édith Piaf's original song another chance to get more success, more streams, more sales, etc.

We all know that Céline has always respected the artists she admires and in this case she, her team and the organisation wanted to give her the recognition that Édith Piaff and her song Hymme A L'Amour had the greatest possible success.

Let us not forget that the ceremony was a tribute to the whole French culture.

And to release Céline's version at the Olympic Games on the anniversary of Édith's death, is once again a tribute to her, the tribute that Céline wanted to pay to her on this special anniversary.

Céline was more than honoured to sing this song at such an important event.

That is my theory.

Best regards
