Maybe these tabloids should be reminded to the fact that Lady Gaga didn't even actually perform during opening ceremony, because it rained.... :glare:

How Do You Keep The Music Playing? - Celine Opening Night March 15th, March 16th

Yeah not great to be honest. Most people are responding “so what” to these stories but nevertheless they are still hurtful.

These stories that have now come out are to my mind the very reason they hesitated so long in releasing this. This was always going to be the problem but who cares as everyone who performed did so to pre-recorded tracks.

The Etienne guy mentioned in the articles is kind of annoying. Looks like he’s gleefully posting the articles on his Instagram, wanting her downfall. 🙄

Good job they cracked the case of lipping at a major event which has 100% never happened before.

Nahhh that’s not it, the single is clearly the “live” version, so it should be identical to the live performance. That’s the point. If people want to speculate if she was lipping to the song on the actual Olympic night fine, but nobody can’t say it’s not a “live performance” when it clearly was taken from that exact performance; wasn’t like they took the vocals and masked it as a studio version. I still don’t understand how people think this is lipped and yet think the “The Show Must Go On” performance for the Billboard Music Awards was live?

The song will gain more streams during its second day. Mark my words. :flowers:

Actually, if you looked at dailymail comments all of them are being understanding about it. There was no bashing about it. It was like ok for them. Glad it turns out that way.

Haters will not like it lol

For the first time this year @Beyonce (#21) leaves the top 20 of most streamed female artists daily on Spotify and @celinedion now takes the #20 spot.

Neither the Olympics or Billboard performances were live. End of. Both were constructed and tidied up from previous live performances. The Olympics from 2015’s AMA’s and Billboard from a previous hybrid live performance of The Show Must Go On, likely from Vegas. This is why, with the Olympics particularly, that people keep saying she’s clearly singing into a mic as you can hear her moving closer to it and pulling away at high notes because it was taken from a fully live performance. Incidentally that technique is something she fails to do when miming and even here the fading of the vocal that we hear doesn’t match her physical movements during her performance. Incidentally, the failure to do this action physically while miming along with the over quivering of the mouth, are two of the main giveaways to tell when she is in actual fact miming.

This is why as far as I’m concerned, the reason she didn’t release this performance straight away and also why the AMA’s performance, widely available on YouTube for years, suddenly disappeared after her Olympics performance.

I can’t believe this is still being dissected and torn apart after all this time, probably would’ve been better leaving it unreleased to be honest. Who cares anyway as all performances at global events such as the Olympics are generally lipped and to whatever track, whether people believe it was a recent recorded performance are irrelevant, she turned up, proved to the general public that she’s not giving up on her career and it will go down as a showing of pure resilience and forever be an iconic moment in her career.

And I can't believe how fixated you are on this AMA=Olympics-discussion, when people with way more technical knowledge (of the language, of the editing process) have repeatedly told you you were wrong.

But I guess we live in a day and age where anyone with a 'gut feeling' thinks their hunch is as good as fact.

I keep telling myself I won’t get pulled back into this discussion, but comments like this just hit the nerve for me. It has been repeatedly debunked that the Olympics track is NOT an enhanced version of her 2015 performance. Anyone with decent hearing and a basic understanding of music can recognize that. And for those lacking either skills, overlapping the two tracks clearly proves they don’t match. No amount of autotune could turn the shaky and hoarse 2015 rendition into the flawless performance we heard at the Olympics.

Furthermore, her voice during the Olympics performance unmistakably shows signs of aging. Continuing to regurgitate this baseless and harmful narrative that she used the 2015 track is incredibly disrespectful to Celine. It completely undermines the effort she put into recording a new track for the Olympics. Given how much she struggled to record the much less demanding "Love Again," I can only imagine how challenging it must have been for her. Yet she did it and gave us the most epic performance of her career. And people still go around spreading misinformation that can be easily debunked.

To sum up: YES, she lip-synced. NO, she did not use the 2015 track. Please stop spreading misinformation.

I'm sorry but you should calm down. "Anyone with a decent hearing and a basic understanding of music"...wtf?

The point is not even if it was the 2015 track or not, but what you are saying is not correct.

You have tons of singers out there who don't sound live AT ALL like their records and now you are saying that the 2015 can't be enhanced? Sorry but this is funny. Sure it was not 100% perfect but nothing that can't be fixed afterwards. I bet most of the sound engineers would love to have a base like the 2015 performance to work on.

It's 2024, we litterally have AI reproducing all the voices, that can make a singer "sings" a song that he has never sung... and it would be impossible to trick a note here and there on a performance? Sorry I don't buy it.

Lol. The fact that you are saying this phrase

“…and it would be impossible to trick a note here and there on a performance? Sorry I don't buy it.”

Shows that you understand absolutely nothing about what is required to turn the 2015 performance into the 2024 one. This is not about some false notes being corrected.

I speak french with a native fluency, and her pronunciation of a lot of words is notably different between the two performances. I’m pretty sure that those sound engineers you’re talking about have no interest in changing her pronunciations if that was even technically possible.

Again I could explain in a lot more technical details and terms why turning the 2015 track into the 2024 one is technically impossible *in this case*, but it has been already well explained by me and others earlier in this thread. You can go ahead and check them out yourself.

“You have tons of singers out there who don't sound live AT ALL like their records and now you are saying that the 2015 can't be enhanced? Sorry but this is funny.”

What’s funny is you believing that those singers you’re talking about record their songs in one take, then the sound engineers do the magic and turn them into perfect tracks. Yes there are singers that don’t sound at all live like their records, but it’s mix of both sound engineering AND the fact that they are made to repeat each part in so many takes that they eventually get it right someway. Celine’s 2015 performance was just one take, and that’s not enough for any sound engineer to do the miracles you’re talking about.

And if you really want to dive into the whole AI theory, technically, yes, they could train an AI on her voice, get some random girl to sing the song, then layer Celine’s voice over it (but if you're buying into that, I'll hand you the tinfoil hat shortly).

The difference is that I couldn’t care less where or how the pre-recorded track was constructed but I do not believe she could sing a song 9 years apart almost identical and of course anything is possible in the editing room these days, technology as has been pointed out can construct a completely new song using AI so I think anyone who believes it couldn’t be enhanced/corrected is wrong but this is only my opinion and I certainly don’t berate anyone for having one as some of you do.

I’m not fixated on spreading misinformation, just the facts as I see them and I’m not discrediting her or the effort she put in to be there and give us what she did. I’ve said it before, I’ve been a fan of hers for over 30 years, this will never change but I’m not going to full myself into the fact that she never lips or pulls the wool over our eyes where that’s concerned as she’s been doing it all her career and I’m totally fine with it but clearly from the tone of some members here, others aren’t.

Lastly, in the Olympics performance you can still hear the crack in her voice during her first high note, though not as bad, this is where it was at it’s worst during the 2015 performance so couldn’t be fully corrected. Also she did the very same thing in her supposed showing of the ‘Show Must Go On’ without Rene mantra at the Billboards by not singing live and using an enhanced live recording so why wouldn’t she do it here?!

Just accept it for what it is and what we got, I have.

Saying things like " you understand nothing" or "your hearing is wrong" is not a legit argument in a debate. You know it, right? This is just insulting, without proving anything.

You can go on with your patronizing tone, if that what pleases you...but you should first double check facts about the person you are talking to before ( like, for example, the country the person is coming from, just under the nicknamesmile.png).

What’s funny is you believing that those singers you’re talking about record their songs in one take

Funny, you urged Jeanette to stop spreading fake information ...and you litterally make up things. Where the hell did I say that?

With these 2 examples, your shaky detective skills and your tendancy to invent facts just make me doubt about your capacity to crack the recording year case.giggle.gif

Bonne journée!

Nobody was insulting you or even talking to you. You quoted my message which was not even directed to you and got offended and started arguing all by yourself lmao.

And you being from Belgium doesn’t make me stating that I speak french any less relevant in explaining why I am able to hear the differences between 2 performances in that language.

“Funny, you urged Jeanette to stop spreading fake information ...and you litterally make up things. Where the hell did I say that?”

You literally said it yourself. You said that the 2015 performance can be corrected to perfection just like some of these wanna be artists sound different live from studio because of that correction, as if one take was enough to make someone sound pitch perfect.

If you wanna be patronizing at least have some substance to back it lmao. You managed to type a whole paragraph saying absolutely nothing.

I am not here to convince you that she recorded it recently, and I really couldn’t care less about what you believe. All the evidence is in this thread a few pages ago, so I was simply addressing Jeanette who seems to be fixated on spreading misinformation about matter that has already been discussed, debunked and closed months ago.

Some people really know how to ruin the fun in everything.

I’ve always noticed it. Precisely why I skip over most of their posts.
