Squall Posted January 9, 2025 at 08:34 PM Posted January 9, 2025 at 08:34 PM What do you guys make of this? I personally find this guy kind of annoying. Has he shown that performances are altered and vocals are enhanced? Yeah. But usually, unless it's done to a certain extent, my ears can't really tell the difference. He's also uncovered that some performances are lip synced. As if that is anything new. What he uncovers at the end of this video sounds very suspicious to me. It doesn't sound like Celine. He's claiming it is and that she has lost her voice. 1 Quote

He's claiming it is and that she has lost her voice. He is reading this too far. Because he is a YouTuber and needs the attention. The argument is that Celine has lost her voice so why did she choose to come off as perfect in the Olympics performance? There are two flaws in this. 1). We cannot tell whether Celine lost her voice based on this clip. It was a rehearsal of what would be a pre-recorded performance. I do not see the point in her using her full voice or proper technique when doing that. 2) The Olympics performance would be pre-recorded anyway, irrespective of SPS. Therefore to criticise Celine on the grounds of honesty and public empathy is absurd. It was an one-off. 5 Quote

If they want to say she lipped the song that’s one thing (we all know that)… but to say it’s because she lost her voice is where they lose me. 3 Quote
Squall Posted January 9, 2025 at 08:54 PM Posted January 9, 2025 at 08:54 PM The voice at the end of that clip he showed doesn't even sound like Celine. It sounds like someone off camera was singing along and his voice app picked up on that person and singled it out. But as you said, Celine would have been lip syncing the performance with SPS or not. As ALL of the other performers were also lip syncing. I do believe the song she was lipping to was of a new recording. So she DID sing that recently and that IS her recent voice. Quote
comingback Posted January 9, 2025 at 09:04 PM Posted January 9, 2025 at 09:04 PM (edited) I saw the video too today. Yes, I don't like the statement that Celine has no voice anymore. Sure, maybe she is struggling with her voice because of SPS, but at this point we don't know the real condition of her voice.Only Celine knows it. Squall Posted January 9, 2025 at 09:09 PM Posted January 9, 2025 at 09:09 PM He's also putting it out there that Celine is being deceptive because she's making it seem as if she has come back from SPS and is singing like her old self when in reality she still can't sing. So that is giving false hope to people out there with SPS. But I have seen people with SPS who have said that, through treatment, they WERE able to go back to doing what they used to do. Is that everybody? No. But some people CAN resume normalcy to a degree. 1 Quote

KyleVan41 Posted January 9, 2025 at 09:28 PM Posted January 9, 2025 at 09:28 PM He’s an idiot. I echo Luke’s sentiment. That’s not Celine singing in the phone. Even if it was means nothing. Look at her real singing voice she displayed singing to Hoda in her interviews ( she actually demoed the power of love and she sounded amazing ) and again in a CBC segment with I’m Alive. This bullshit is tiring 2 Quote

TommKat22 Posted January 9, 2025 at 10:11 PM Posted January 9, 2025 at 10:11 PM The thing that annoys me most about his videos about Celine is that he cites her lip syncing at both the Olympics and the Saudi Arabia fashion show as being deceptive and proof that she lost her voice. However, from my understanding, a lot of people at the Olympics lip sync since it’s a big production and everything has to go right, so not really her fault. Also, the fashion show also had everyone lip syncing and the performances were secondary to the fashion. It was not a private concert that Celine was charging money for and trying to be deceptive. We really only ended up seeing her performance initially because someone leaked it online and I think she was a surprise guest to just soundtrack the fashion runway (like the other performers). He acts like Celine held a private concert and charged people to hear her “real” voice. 4 Quote Tommy

He covers a lot of other singers who lip sync but he makes Celine out to being more sinister because she's giving "false hope" to people out there with SPS. Celine has been lipping performances since forever. A lot of singers do for one reason or another. I've been to a handful of Celine concerts. I'm never sitting in my seat thinking "Is this live? Is it lipped?" I'm just there in the moment and enjoying the show. 2 Quote

It's like he wants a lot of artists to be framed that they are fooling the audience with their lipsync. But it the audience who is stupid enough to believe everything would be sang live. Either way, the artists will be blamed if they sang live but it doesn't sound like the album, or if they lipsync. They never can do good in some eyes. Shaun Posted January 10, 2025 at 10:02 AM Posted January 10, 2025 at 10:02 AM I don’t think it’s a massive stretch to suggest Celine is struggling with her voice. We all saw the documentary, the Love Again recording session and heard the final recording. Plus given the fact she hasn’t announced any concerts or performed live anywhere yet. However, to suggest she’s “lost” her voice based on two events she would naturally lipsync at anyway is a low blow in my opinion. Celine herself has said she’s undergoing “vocal rehabilitation” so she knows herself there is work to do. She doesn’t need this bozo to point it out and spread false information. 5 Quote Bringing you the world's only Celine Dion podcast show since 2014.Find us on Soundcloud, Apple Podcasts, Spotify & Amazon Music.

That's like exposing Britney Spears for lipping. I think it's pretty obvious. Some artists are not known for their voices. They're known for the production. They lay down a vocal and then all kinds of effects get laid over top to create the song. And then they release a multimillion dollar music video that makes the song even bigger. When people go to a concert, they expect THAT. If the artist sings live and they're off key, somebody records it on the phone, posts it online, now everybody is talking about how that artist can't sing. I think it would be great if I could go to a Celine concert and get 100% live vocals. But she's not just doing the ONE concert for me. She's doing this night after night. Human vocal cords could not do that. She needs to give her voice somewhat of a break now and then during concerts. If this Fil guy had the career of the artists he's critiquing, he'd no doubt be using these tactics as well. Edited January 10, 2025 at 01:51 PM by Squall 1 Quote

I think it's entirely possible that Celine will have good days and bad days vocally for the rest of her life. And she'll never be able to predict when her voice will be in good condition. So, whenever we see her performing in the future, it might be to a prerecorded track. I'm okay with that. She's ALIVE. If she can stand, move around, and be happy and not bedridden or in pain, then that's all I care about. Edited January 10, 2025 at 01:57 PM by Squall 2 Quote

Exactly. It's crazy that people don't know that these events are almost exclusively lipped no matter who is there. Olympics, Super Bowl, etc. They are not going to ever risk something going wrong. The artist's choice wouldn't factor into it. As for Celine's voice, I was quite impressed relative to my expectations at how she sounded in the little tidbits she gave us in 2024. Gicedi Posted January 29, 2025 at 09:18 PM Posted January 29, 2025 at 09:18 PM Hey guys! The French Institute here in Athens invited Thomas Jolly for a Q&A on the Olympics. 1. He said the same as we know that he suggested 2 places for Celine to perform and she said "even if it will rain even if it will snow ill be on the Aifel tower to sing". 2. They showed some (as they said) exclusive behind the scenes footage from a documentary they are going to make, in which we saw the control room during the opening ceremony while Celine was singing, Thomas was crying and many of the crew were very moved. At the end of her performance they all applauded. 3. Strangely, they did not say or show anything about Lady Gaga. 4. When the whole event was about to end, they decided to do it by showing Celine's whole performance on the big screen! The audience was really captivated! They also applauded for her at the end.And Thomas was very passionate during the video, doing moves that followed the melody and tempo of the song. 4 Quote https://youtu.be/D2KKDewXvJE
