I’m still trying to grasp why they announced that this documentary was official on January 30th and here we are mid way through March and they still haven’t even gave a release date. I saw a free articles and clips covering Celine in the Oilers locker room and they reference this documentary with no date… At what point does this begin to NOT help in promotion.

As more time passes with no update I’m convinced the announcement of the doc only came because of the Grammys appearance. They knew there would be loads of articles about it and they would mention the doc. People reading the articles at the time would read there’s a doc coming so when it does eventually come (later in the year) they would say ‘oh yeah, I remember this being mentioned’.

 

If the Grammys appearance didn’t happen we wouldn’t know a thing about the documentary and that press release announcing it wouldn’t have happened.

 

My 2 cents anyway.

Still for me none of it makes sense. From a logical standpoint. Press today doesn’t necessarily equal the press they may want when it releases to get more views/streams. Even Claudette isn’t making any waves these days.

For me logically it allows her to be seen in public but not have to address her condition. By saying the documentary will do that she can do all the appearances she wants without the pressure of having to do an interview or multiple interviews. And yes technically she does not have to do an interview but if she just all of a sudden started making appearances and never addressed the elephant in the room (SPS) then public scrutiny would run rampant. Kind of like what is happening with the Kate Middleton picture. But having the doc on the horizon to address everything gives her the freedom to appear in public and not have to do an interview. Just what makes sense to me as to why announce it so early.

Yeah I think that the doc announcement was probably done to pave the way for her Grammy appearance while also saying "regarding SPS, you'll find out everything in due time".

I somehow believe this. Rene also was the main force behind Celine being an “open book”, after he passed she became very much more guarded. I believe, that Irene maybe had to explain to Celine how great for the community it would be to show her not so good moments on camera, and I believe that Celine told them anything she doesn’t like needs to be cut; because I doubt during the filming she kept them away, I think her approach probably was something like letting film every moment they wanted to a point and then cut parts only after Celine sees and decides to cut them.

 

My only wish is that if they are tackling this beast then it needs to be raw and helpful, it won’t help the company community if we get so many cuts that it becomes a watered-down Hollywood documentary with very small bad moments seen with rosy glasses.

Yes, indeed, hopefully the cutting is used sparingly and judiciously. But after all, it's Celine's private life and her health and her decision to share as much or as little as she's comfortable with.

 

I also wouldn't be surprised if the initial shock of the diagnosis made her want to pull the plug. And Irene convincing her otherwise is certainly believable as well, considering the nature of her previous work (and considering her husband is a doctor specializing in Parkinson's & movement disorders, by the way).

If true , a September release was my guess all along. Because I know they probably wouldn’t release in the summer months as many television shows are on hiatus and they wouldn’t be able to promote if that is indeed the plan ; and total viewership is down on all

Platforms during the outdoor months.

I still think that the premiere will be in Cannes in May and than on Amazon Prime in September (maybe earlier).
