I was thinking the ending part of the documentary will probably feature her surprise appearance at the Grammys. Would be a fantastic conclusion, cinematically speaking

I think they are waiting for JLo’s movie to phase off on Prime before introducing Celine’s project.

As far as we know, the film's shooting was completed before Christmas; it has been in post-production since December 23. And IMO that's probably a good thing; ending the documentary with a Grammy gala could prove too showy...

We already know without knowing anything, they will end the documentary on a light note… this has ALWAYS been their mantra with Celine, even with SPS I doubt it’ll be any different.

Also, I believe JLO has 2 Amazon releases, the one that’s currently out now and there’s another at end of February a “making of” I think. So when can realistically get a release date for Celine’s doc? Will it be announced months ahead of release date or just a few weeks before?

It seems that her November outing with her sons to a hockey game and hugs with the players in the locker room, followed by her joy at a Katy Perry concert - but in the audience, not on stage - are light enough notes, without falling into pathos.

As for the release date, I think, like scielle, that before releasing on streaming, the filmmakers and producers will want to show the film at some festival - as in Irene's work so far (her films have been shown at Sundance, Tribeca, Mountainfilm, etc.). Will it be HotDocs in Toronto (25.04.-05.05.), Cannes (14-25.05.), RIDM in Montreal (still unknown date in November) or another festival?

The much more niche ReelAbilities festival is taking place in New York from April 4-10 - Irene opened it in 2019 with her excellent documentary "Moonlight Sonata: Deafness in Three Movements" (here's the festival's interview with the director and the film's protagonists:

), but I suspect it would be an insufficiently "big occasion" for Sony/Amazon. Here about the festival: https://reelabilities.org/

We should probably also be vigilant on February 29 (Rare Disease Day) and March 15 (International SPS Awareness Day); maybe we'll learn more then.

A couple interesting data points to reference:

Amazon has also picked up a Roger Federer bio doc about the final days of his career. Directed by Oscar-winning director behind Senna and Amy (the Amy Winehouse bio doc), Asif Kapadia. It was just announced over the weekend it looks like it's expected to release around Wimbledon (July). Will be interesting to see how they promo it.

Second, the upcoming Billy Joel CBS special (the 100th show of his MSG residency) is being brought to you by Sony Music Vision, the same people who are behind this Celine doc. So perhaps there's hope of them someday doing something similar for Celine, either with a future show (if there is one... ) or one previously recorded.

Some food for thought:

- We won’t know the release date until it’s officially announced.

- We won’t know if new music is included until they release it.

- We won’t know how it ends until we see the damn documentary!

I know we’re all very excited, but no one here has any clue… So until then, maybe we can just chill — these questions will be revealed in due time.

Yes, I know shooting was finished, but they could insert footage captured by the official broadcasters and the Grammys. If the story is one of resilience, fight, and determination...then the logical apex over the last few years would be the Grammy appearance. Especially as it's the best she's looked recently that we know of. I would be surprised if it wasn't included -- and of course it doesn't have to be the ending, that was just a vision I had.

But then again maybe the end of filming was the end of the timeline for them.

what Jlo did is interesting… the new songs are pretty bad IMO, nowhere near hits like On The Floor. Yet she invested her own money to produce this „cinematic experience“ (as nobody was willing to sponsor it cause nobody believed in it, not even her own label). I think she knew very well that her new and self-written songs are crap so she needed more to go with it and therefore paid the production of that film herself. She even said that it will be her last album after critics had gotten to her. Yet, she went on with this project and is promoting the hell out of it. Edited by ryba

Well, HotDocs announces their lineup on March 26, Cannes and Tribeca sometime in mid-April… we’ll have a while to wait, still.

I’m guessing we are looking at a fall release… I just hope they made the right decision by announcing this SO early. All the hype from her Grammys appearance has surely died down.

Who knows where she will show up in the next months.

She will definitely pop up in the next few weeks at Adele’s residency.

Again are you just GUESSING or are you really sure? I am just curious as you have mentioned about Adele's residency in another thread, & you are acting like you have "some insider info", & again I am just sceptical about that as there have been other fans claiming that too, & their "predictions" have not come true either!

& while yes it would be neat if Celine did show up. But also lets NOT get our hopes up too much, as none of us really know where or when we will see her next (especially as the release date of the documentary is STILL UNKNOWN at this point, which does make it kind of odd why her Team announced the documentary so soon without a release date known, to me that is very weird! But I digress lol.)

I feel if Celine does go to Adele’s residency within the next while, it will either be for her birthday on the 30th, or the closing night of the residency. She could go at any time, but I feel those two would be the most “impactful” and get the most people talking. Edited by AdrienneM

I think it was intentional for Celine to see Katy on her last show… I think she’ll do the same with Adele. I have a feeling she will show up for the last show alongside some other famous faces we shall see, adele doesn’t close until June.

Yea I am leaning towards the closing night of Adele's show as well, just like with Katy's show last fall. & since I heard that Adele's show does not end until June, that is 4 months from now. So I do not know where that other person's "predictions" of Celine showing up at Adele's show within the next few weeks is coming from lol... I just don't see that appearance happening until the last show of Adele's residency, which is a few months away.

Adele is not signed with AEG, nor is Celine performing at Cesars Palace anymore. My guess is that Celine certainly won’t show up there

Maybe Wendy Williams situation is not the same situation as Célines, but there are parallels on the initial idea of the documentary, what happened along the way, and the final outcome. I wonder what Irene will have to say about Céline's doc. I find that very interesting.

"Wendy Williams Doc Producers: “If We’d Known She Had Dementia, No One Would’ve Rolled a Camera”

The producers of Lifetime's 'Where Is Wendy Williams?' discuss the making of the unsettling doc and what they learned (and grew increasingly infuriated about) along the way."

That’s an interesting point because Irene actually already experienced it.

She was making Moonlight Sonata, about her deaf son learning the Beethoven piece, and in the middle of production her dad, also deaf, started showing signs of dementia. So it became a different story than what was originally intended. Became a film about 3 people dealing with hearing loss in very different times/ circumstances, and both Beethoven and her dad losing something very key to who they were - Beethoven his hearing, and her dad (an inventor & professor), his mind.

Obviously this was very vulnerable because it’s her own family, not just any doc subject. So I think she’s in a good position to handle the situation that unfolded around Céline.

Shania went to see Celine when she was performing at Zappos and was signed to Live Nation, so I see no reason why Celine can’t do the same re: Adele

Yea Celine might still visit Adele's show, but most likely bit will be THE LAST SHOW, just like she did with Katy Perry's show. But Adele's last show is NOT UNTIL JUNE, so we got a few months from now lol.

Yea you are VERY RIGHT ON about that! It is not good to do too much speculation, after all none of us truly know what has been going on with Celine & her health, except for the few facts we do know of. & hopefully the documentary will answer all or most of the unanswered questions. Now I just wish we had A RELEASE DATE, I can not wait to see this documentary! & I really hope that Sony announcing the documentary so early on will not affect the release of it, whenever that is.

Why are some thinking she can’t go see a show at Caesars?
I have had the time of my life following this woman! Much love.

Because Adele/Ceasar is signed to a different company than Céline is (RW Resort/ AEG).

And so that means she can never attend a concert unless it’s an AEG concert?!?

Come on, catch yourselves on lol!!!!!!
