Maybe she’s on silence for maximum impact for the documentary.

Or maybe it’ll completely ignore her illness and we will get one instagram post about it and then that’s it. And the instagram post will be a week after we have all seen it already.

Omg this forum would implode.

It's in post production, filming completed as off 23rd december.

Guess it will be an Amazon Prime documentary.

Would have thought it would be a Netflix special. Think Netflix has more audience.

Prime is growing at a much bigger rate than Netflix and they are both projected to have the same number of subscribers by 2027. I think they picked well this time.

My guess is that there is new footage of Celine batteling the illness. Otherwise this docu would be generic and useless. I wonder if it will be a 3BAANS type of docu where Celine is being interviewed and is commenting on everything. That would be amazing!

Terrible title…. I Am: Disappointed.

Hopefully they don’t rush this out and don’t tell us about the sps chapter.

I’ll take “I Am: Celine Dion” over the usual awful celebrity documentary titles of either “*insert song title* - the Celine Dion Story” or “Celine Dion- The Star, The Success, The Story” anyday.

I don't dislike it.

If anything, it makes it sound like it's going to be more personal and not just a career retrospective.

Maybe she was out last month for some footage. giggle.gif

For the last 2 minutes of the movie " today Céline lives isolated , she shut down her production company and attends some events in the middle of the crowd now and then". giggle.gif

Just googled :

The postproduction process takes between six months to a year to complete. Movies that require a high amount of visual effects will always remain in postproduction longer. Summing up the time for all three production phases after development, the average time to make a movie is between one and two-and-a-half years.

btw, how did you find this info about the new documentary? I didn't see it anywhere else. Is it real?

I don't know if they planned to include SPS into documentary, maybe that was not even revealed at the time, or SPS derailed all the plans and they had to completely change the mood and theme of the film....?

I suppose that the documentary will be a vehicle to announce and promote Celines upcoming Las Vegas show. After the release of the docu and possibly some new music the residency announcement will follow and tickets might go on sale Edited by ryba

T. Swift's ERAS-Tour is available on Amazon Prime. Do you guys think, that Sony will upload a concert from the Mini-Tours or Courage-Tour with the release of the docu? Edited by comingback

Taking Chances - the concert is on Prime Video also... but I highly doubt they will upload anything "new"...

Why not? Just because the stage looks a little cheap? The show itself is amazing! And with the right filming techniques even a cheaper concert can look amazing! I hope they will release it, it will soon be 10 years since the show was recorded…Or they might release the Courage show. This one looks high class Edited by ryba

I think not because of the content... just because Team Celine it's not interested at all...

Hopefully we get some unseen concert footage and behind the scenes at the RW residency and what led up to the cancellation after her diagnosis etc.. whatever we get will be great!

It would be so nice to have a new concert film.. maybe someday

Someone else said it before - but I wonder if Celine and her her team are staying extra quiet right now in order for the release of the documentary to get the most amount of attention possible once it’s announced.

There’s a lot of speculation about her health again these days - so that would really bring in a lot of viewers (not to be morbid). There’s just a huge spotlight on her right now so any kind of big release like this should get a lot of attention. Long periods of silence always leads to more intrigue/speculation.

I do hope it’s that and not that Celine isn’t doing well. I hope she’s just as good as she was when we all saw her dancing. Of course, I know SPS is unpredictable and a day-by-day situation.

We’d all love an update.

It’s so hard to know what her team is thinking.. I’ve been following her since the 90s and it was full steam ahead until the later years they just stopped following trends when it comes to marketing like other artists. It would be nice tho if her team recognized that there are loyal fans in droves that would like something… it’s disappointing. However, she has given us sooo much over the years, anything we get will be amazing! I just hope she’s ok.. it’s so sad

Agreed - I just hope she’s okay too.

Which is why an update would be great.

It’s still so surreal that she’s facing this illness. And we’re all doing our best as her biggest fans to deal with the lack of updates. Even though we don’t know her, she’s been there for us in our lives and her absence is a big loss.

Agreed-All we can do is show our support and send her all the loves She’s been a constant in life for several of us.. it’s so sad that a good person like her is going through this..

Hopefully this documentary is released before summer, it’s nice having something to look forward to from her again! :)

I wish we’d get some sit down interviews as well, maybe not with her, but her doctors and team? There’s so much speculation..

But her team tho.. ugh *crickets*

It has to have new footage ! Whether Celine narrates it or not, whether she does a sit down interview or not.

Silence is definitely part of the marketing strategy here. Will that make her come back to Vegas? Maybe, maybe not.

Hopefully one new song comes out of it. Let's also hope the director has been in touch with fans, or watched this forum to make sure we get what we want. So many missed opportunities when it comes to documentaries like that... Janet... Tina...

We want real 4k footage restored from scratch using 35mm film. No upscales from her dads. They have one shot to make it right. I don't want this to be just another documentary full of gettyimages videos.

Give us some 1990-1999 4k concert footage with LIVE vocals.

We know how it always ends anyway...

I enjoyed the Tina documentary - what do you wish they did differently?

My feeling watching it was it focused way too much on the Ike and Tina drama, which is why the people (aka GP) watched it. They didn't focus on her stardom in Europe where she was selling out stadiums for multiple years and left the US for that reason. Completely missed the 95-2010 eras, Goldeneye, last tour, performance with Beyonce and other tributes to her etc...

Footage could have been better even tho it did contain some 4k footage from 35mm. But they were just raw scans full of dirt and artifacts. Nothing cleaned. The fact they don't have the Barcelona concert in a better format than a VHSrip, might as well get another concert footage? Maybe it's because they had the Reel to Reel audio tapes of this one they decided to still go with this one? I mean even I have some 35mm video reels of Tina they could have used.

I did not like the people being interviewed either. I would have liked Cher to talk about her for example. They've been friends since the 70's.

I don't know, it was nice but could have been much better. could have been on two episodes of 2 hours also. They had one shot, it was a missed opportunity.

Same with Janet's , at least it had a lot of personal footage in that one, but they focus on what the GP wants, not what fans want. You can tell budget cuts here, budget cuts there.

Of course none of them came with a new song to promote.

We'll see about this one. Expectations are: Unreleased 4K footage from 93 concert with rehearsals, clips of unheard demos, insane vocals and fun facts no one knew about. Reality will probably be: Celine recorded My Heart Will Go On in one take, here's some footage of The Reason in the studio (from Let's Talk About Love DVD bonus).

Yeah Tina’s career is so robust, it easily could’ve been a docuseries. Wasn’t her husband, Erwin Bach, a producer? I know he always hated Tina being asked about the Ike years.

I have no clue what to expect for the Celine documentary. I know it was initially supposed to be about her career highlights - but considering the director’s other work and Celine’s illness, it will be interesting to see how it turns out.

I hope it reignites interest in Celine, her music, achievements, and overall legacy (so far). And I think it will shine more light on SPS - Celine’s battle and the illness in general.

No announcement yet for the release date of this upcoming docu, right?
Posted

Céline's silence has actually been going on for several years. She has only interrupted it to make another official announcement about the postponement or cancellation of more concerts, tours and residencies. If it weren't for the need for such updates, the silence would probably be uninterrupted. Silence before the release of "Love Again" (as well as silence about the film, continued silence after the release, etc.) has not proven to be a marketing strategy.

I fear that Céline's problem is simply incomparable to all the marketing strategies and promotions of the world combined.

Does her silence mean something different this time? Has the problem with an incurable disease diminished enough for the importance of marketing to increase? Let's hope so. Though I doubt it.

Let's also hope the director has been in touch with fans, or watched this forum to make sure we get what we want.

I dare say: hopefully not ;) I hope that Irene Taylor is too experienced a director with her own recognized body of work to propose - instead of her original vision - a product tailored to anyone's expectations, whether of the Sony corporation or the fan community.

Perhaps this qualifies as sacrilege, but I would even say: I hope that Taylor, in making a documentary about Céline, was not as submissive as Céline has been over the decades of her career. Since she was a child, she was too often treated like a race mare with record-breaking stakes, and like a marketing product that must first and foremost sell as well as possible. If she managed to be an artist after all, it was in spite of "marketing strategies," not because of them.

I hope that Taylor's documentary will show Céline as a human being who, despite her extrovertism and clownishness, is not easy to get to know, and as an artist who, in the throes of her career, did not always manage to be. I'm hoping more for a fascinating portrait than a monument that "perpetuates a legacy." There will still be time for monuments, because on this issue I think we all share the same hope: "this is not the end"...
