Didn't she say in 3 Boys and a New Show or something she made the comment that she wanted to open with MHWGO to "get it over with" or something like that? Like I get she wants to get it over with but it being at the end of the show, the fans just eat it up. So I get she wants to get it out of the way, but it's just not time to throw it at the beginning of the show.

 

I disagree. "My Heart Will Go On" worked perfectly well as the opener to the Millennium Concert. Plus, by having it as the opening number, it will make everyone wonder what huge thing she has planned for closing out the show. Plus, it would also mean she's doing what SHE wants instead of solely sucking up to the casual fans and critics. If she actually took real chances instead of always doing things that are expected or lazy, she'd be truly artistic.

I'm curious whether she has recorded, or will record new vocal tracks for the show. I think her return is the perfect time for their introduction. I thought that the 2011 tracks for IACBTMN and MHWGO were much better than the previous ones, but became increasingly pitch-corrected over the years. She really really needs to. The difference between the live and pre recorded vocals on the Courage Tour was almost painful to listen to, and frankly, she can’t keep using tracks that were now recorded well over 10 years ago and expect people to buy it. And frankly, she either needs to start singing the ending of All By Myself live again (the “No i dont wanna live by myself anymore…” part) or, completely record a new vocal for that too, as that was arguably the most egregious. Frankly she can still do It’s All Coming Back To Me Now rather well as we saw during Carpool Karaoke, and My Heart Will Go On we know she can do consistently even now… how she’d fare even in the studio attempting to sing The Power of Love, the All By Myself high note or something like I Surrender… I don’t know.

Girl... first of all stop yelling for the love of Christ. You can get your point across without all the caps. Like I said, Deuxmoi is pretty reliable. We know it's the beginning of August. I'm betting on an announcement by the middle of this month. And for the fans that are unable to afford to go to Vegas for the first run of shows, well honestly that sucks for them. I'm lucky to live in California so I can go pretty easily. If the shows start in November, it gives most people time to request time off work, book hotels, etc. I know I can. For one, it is hard to read and unfriendly on the eyes. It is also similar to shouting on the Internet. So yes, it is a FORUM RULE, not to mention one that is followed across the internet as a whole. Plus, your comment about only 5-10 people posting here is laughable. Also, you want to talk about low forum turn out. It's because there's no news. It's hard to talk about Celine when she's currently in break mode and may be until February of 2023. First, I am NOT THE ONLY FAN concerned about the NEVER-ENDING SILENCE of Celine & her team right now, & even though your beloved "Deuxmoi" has claimed Celine is supposed to start performing in Vegas in ONLY 2-3 MONTHS FROM NOW, & yet there has been NO OTHER SOURCES claiming Celines supposed "return" to performing this fall (with fall being right AROUND THE CORNER!) & if she was returning, why has her team NOT POSTED ANYTHING about it? & even Resorts World themselves HAS SAID NOTHING about Celine show happening! Where are the SHOW TICKETS at? Thats right, there is nothing but crickets chirping right now, that is whats going on!

 

& honestly, if the reason that Celine is waiting "until the very last minute" to post dates & sell tickets "because of her health issues", then its a sign that SHE SHOULD NOT BE PERFORMING ANYWAY! If she is really returning this fall they had better be announcing shows here soon. People already weren't happy she had to cancel, so if she waits too late to announce them it won't give people enough time to make ticket plans.

 

I don't see any possible way she'll be performing later this year. Late October is only three months away. That's not very much time to ensure ticket sales would be solid. Plus, the logistics of fans having to procure last-minute hotel and air reservations would be insane. So, while I could be wrong, I would say Celine isn't performing this year.

 

I agree with you 100%, Celine will always sell but if they don't leave enough time between the announcement and the shows, it's gonna be too late for people who live far away, so they can't plan their trip with flights, hotels etc anymore in this short amount of time. I don't think Celine will be on stage in front of an empty room but they should keep the fans in mind who live in other parts of the world

 

I don’t know. I still feel a bit uncomfortable how she’s been MIA for so long and then suddenly will have to appear 100% to try flog a lot of tickets in 3 months. As popular as she is, she’s literally been silent.

 

Also, personally, the fact that Vegas would take precedent over her fulfilling European shows that I and thousands of others had bought tickets for years ago is a tad offensive- logistics or not.

If you think covering other people's songs is "adventurous," then, I don't know what to tell you.

Sure it is. Jazz exists.

Now, of course, Celine does most of these songs straight and often just mimics the original, which is far less interesting. If she improvised the way she has been with PQTME, for instance, that would be another story.

 

I have to disagree, she used to open A new day… with Nature Boy which most people never heard of

Who are these people who have never heard of Nature Boy? It's a standard for a reason... Granted, most probably know the Nat King Cole original, or the David Bowie version from Moulin Rouge, or frankly any of the myriad of other versions which are probably better known than Celine's.

Would love to see Celine bring this one back.

 

Thank god no one here is actually on her team or in any sort of creative role, cause for all the complaints about The Power of Love, I Drove All Night and I Surrender as show openers, these suggestions have been just as bad if not worse. And I too think a lot of these songs that people like to recommend are both too hard for her to sing, and would leave most of the audience sitting there scone faced because they've no clue what she's singing.

This argument has been done to death on here for years, and I'm really not here to argue or to start debates or running back and forths with people, cause frankly who has the time or energy, it's not that deep… but the reality is- just look at the actual audience reactions and reviews to her shows. All the hits get thunderous reactions, and anything that wasn't at least a mini-hit gets nigh on silence. If You Asked Me To ironically being one of them despite being a top 10 hit for her. All the reviews from people who went to vegas and The Courage World Tour pointed out that they love the hit filled set list and the fact she sticks to the standards. That's what sells tickets. Not people on fan sites wanting unperformed songs from 25 years ago that she can't even sing anymore, and they themselves won't even be buying a ticket or going to the show anyway.

But the songs? (And I know this is one of the points everyone hates and argues against, but it's unfortunately just reality) Those are what people pay to see. Why change something that sells massively, the audience love, gets overwhelmingly positive reviews and makes the audiences gives energy that she feeds off of as an entertainer? I too would love to see a show with a heavily invigorated set list and lots of extras and b-sides and deep cuts. But there's a time and a place- and Vegas, where every single performer does what is essentially a greatest hits show with some glitter thrown on, is not that place.

Amen. People want to hear songs they know. That's as true of Celine as any other legend. For most going to see Paul McCartney, do you think they want to hear a bonus track off of Egypt Station? No, they want Hey Jude. That's the price of success.

My gripe is not so much with her selection of songs (except I'm Alive, because...ewww ) but rather it's with the fact that she does most of these songs straight. Very little deviation from what's on record. I know that was Rene's ethos (and a result of pre-recorded tracks...), but it's not particularly interesting. New arrangements, medleys, improvisation (which we know she's great at, just never seems to really do it much in concert...) that would spice things up.

Now, of course, Celine does most of these songs straight and often just mimics the original, which is far less interesting. If she improvised the way she has been with PQTME, for instance, that would be another story.

 

 

Who are these people who have never heard of Nature Boy? It's a standard for a reason... Granted, most probably know the Nat King Cole original, or the David Bowie version from Moulin Rouge, or frankly any of the myriad of other versions which are probably better known than Celine's.

Would love to see Celine bring this one back.

And to add to that: songs she does add improv too, new vocals and ad-libs (All By Myself, Pour Que Tu Maimes Encore, the extra vocals before the climax and the final hums in My Heart Will Go On, and Love Can Move Mountains) people complain that they’re not like the album version and they want her to stick note for note to what she recorded nigh-on 30 years ago… hell, she sang PQTME *breath for breath* identical for 23 years, the minute she changed 2 or 3 notes in 2018 people were in absolute UPROAR over it… so you want her to be artistic, take risks and do things differently… then she does them… and you hate it. Okay. God forbid if she did include half of these 90s b-sides they want, cause if she changed them to fit her current voice they’d go batshit about it .
