My point is...she IS being extravagant. Celine probably pays WAY more than $5,000 for a pair of shoes. If you're talking Prada, Gucci, Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana, you're talking about $10,000-$15,000 for a pair of shoes. Also, all of those Fashion Week street looks? Those clothes aren't given to her for free. She pays a stylist who BUYS the clothing that she wears using her money. Celine is extremely extravagant in spending the money. On clothes. She gets to travel the world on tour so you're not going to see her taking a vacation and spending the money. She also owns her own plane and has to pay for the gas for that and the pilots and the crew. She has a private chef, servants, etc. All of this is Celine spending her money.

Anyone in the world will tell you that traveling for work is not the same thing as traveling for pleasure. And Celine has relationships with certain designers, so we cannot say that she has not ever been a discount or friendly prices on shoes or clothes. As you know, Fashion Weeks are only a few weeks out of the year. Is Celine walking around Vegas in a snakeskin head-to-toe garment? I doubt it. And she doesn't leave Vegas much, so she's not flying excessively.

I don't have her ledger books, but it is my perception that people in her income bracket or lower are more extravagant in their spending. But my point was about the RETURN for the spending. What good does it do someone to have shoes sit in a closet? Celine is very rarely seen out and about enjoying herself. She seems to like to be home a lot. Which is lovely and fine and I am sure she enjoys it....but it begs the question where the money hungriness is coming from and how much is she being used by others as a cash cow.

The issue here, I believe, stems from your inability to realize that different people enjoy different things. For example, you say, “What good does it do someone to have shoes sit in a closet?”

What you mean is, “Having shoes sit in a closet wouldn’t do anything for me.” But you aren’t allowing your mind to consider the possibility that it might do Celine a lot of good. On Oprah, I remember her saying how much she loves to watch the “wheel of shoe racks” turn and see them all there.

Celine has always come across to me as incredibly materialistic. She likes “things.” She likes to own them. She likes to keep them in her closet, even if she never wears them.

There was another interview I remember her saying that the store didn’t have the shoes she wanted in her size and she explained that she didn’t care. She wasn’t going to wear the shoes. She just wanted to have them.

That may not be how I think about things, or the way you think about things, but Celine has her own mind and could view things completely different than you or I do.

Oh my god, what a genius you are. People think differently. Wow. What a concept.

Anyway, I'll stop here, as it is not at all hard to glean that you love talking publicly about money, particularly your own, at even the slightest provocation.

Celine’s family is, like, a thousand people. And to some degree, I’m sure she supports all of them, as she has since she was a teenager. This was already an issue in the early ‘90s (see the Lise Payette interview) and I’m sure it’s only become more so as the family - and the expectations on Céline - have grown.

You are a trip. I can say this with absolute certainty: I have no idea how your mind works. I just know it’s very different than mine. I often don’t know what you’re talking about. I love publicly talking about money?! LOL I don’t love it. But I don’t see anything wrong with it either. You just don’t like that someone has an argument for which you have no counter argument.

Some free advice: self-reflection is a wonderful thing. And we have long been treated (read: mistreated) to how explosive your temper can get, so it is best to keep engagement with you as close as possible to the desired amount: zero.

Is that why you keep responding to and quoting my posts? If your goal is to not engage with me, the best thing to do would be to not engage with me. LOL

It’s called Show Business. Not Show Just-For-The-Fun-Of-It. Everyone in Show Business is out to make the most amount of money they possible can. Otherwise, they’d just be singing at local clubs.

There’s money to be made by releasing concerts on DVD / Blu Ray / streaming….. ;) :P

Not as much as can be made by touring/live performances though. I know other artists release concerts for DVD/streaming but it’s a fact that they don’t sell like they used to. Celine’s team seem to want to keep her a live act only these days. By not releasing her concerts on DVD/streaming, it could be they’re trying to steer people into buying tickets to her shows if they want to experience her. I don’t know for sure. None of us do. The only thing we know for sure is we haven’t seen a concert release since USF and that seems like such a long time ago.

The last MET Gala was atrocious, so hopefully Celine can go and save this one.

Ryan Reynalds is going to be one of the hosts this year.

Do hosts have say on the guest list?

I really hope Celine is invited this year. It would make a great start to her return to the spotlight.

Agreed!

Do you think she will attend this yrs Met

It would be nice if Celine did an interview saying she is better and announcing new shows.

Even better if she went to the Met this year, does anyone know anything??

Part of me is still holding out hope that all this postponement stuff is just one big rumor, just like that fake post awhile back that claimed Celine's team said she was having digestive issues, which turned out to just be some false claim from a tabloid. Hopefully this is all lies and Celine is still returning as scheduled and will surprise us all with an appearance at The Met Gala on Monday. Fingers crossed.

Maybe that's why she isn't saying anything yet regarding these rumors? Perhaps Celine just wants to say something with her actions rather than words and show up at The Met Gala without having to explain herself. All she would have to do is simply show up looking amazing and fierce and that would send a signal to the world and her fans that she is indeed coming back.

If there is any truth to something possibly being announced tomorrow, hopefully it's that Celine is attending the Met Gala on Monday and will soon be making her grand return to the spotlight! Fingers and toes crossed. One can only hope anyways. :)

Except this time I believe somebody said that Celine’s social media pages accidentally posted and then deleted the announcement. Then the rumor candidate it would be announced officially on Friday (today). Her team social media pages Seem like a reliable source. I get that you want to be positive, but I would brace yourself for the news within hours from now.

To this day I still don't understand why Celine only went to the Met Gala twice, and all those years in the 90's and her Vegas residency, was she never invited or never wanted to go??

Not sure why she was never invited. But to me this event seems overrated. I never really followed it much, but it seems for years, no one cares about the fashion theme and will wear whatever they want.

I can be wrong, but I think René never let Celine focus on anything other than music. I believe she always received this type of invitation, but I think he declined every time. She was always busy with concerts, recordings, interviews and could never focus on anything else like fashion or movies.

After his death, we all saw how she threw herself into the fashion world.
