I feel like if the theme is American fashion, a ton more people should be wearing American designers lol. I think the MET Gala is for diving headfirst into a theme.

It doesn't surprise me at all that Celine didn't attend the Met Gala this year. Celine is waaaaay too superstitious of a person to take such a risk like that. I know everyone is tested and go through the proper protocol and all that, but there is still a risk and when there is risk of any kind shortly before a performance, Celine must think about all the people she could possibly let down. Celine never wants to let her fans down. It's too close to her Vegas show comeback. We will see her in time guys and it will be epic!!

 

Also, don't forget that next Met Gala will take place in May as usual. It was pushed to Sept this year because of Covid, so we could very well be seeing Celine at the next Met Gala instead in 8 months time. Fingers crossed!

She has been delaying shows for more than a year now, some of them might have been happening right now in USA I think. I think the vibe here is the right one, that it’s probably best she wasn’t there, especially as you say Manu, as it’d have been a slap in the face to those fans who have had shows cancelled. I suppose I was being selfish and have been missing the unique Celine buzz! Like everyone else.

 

As Darren says, let’s hope she’s been working on Vegas and getting things sorted. Not long to go.

Strong agree. I had never watched a Vogue MET Gala livestream before, but I was very disappointed. It almost seemed like disrespect to the MET Gala as an event, in my opinion.

I don't think people should be mad if Celine was in public 2 months before her show's opening. 8 weeks is not a long time, and no one would be disappointed to see Celine slay such an iconic event.

A slap in the face? After 25 years of being a fan, I’m not sure I could be any more disappointed than TC/Sony totally sleeping on the FIY 25th anniversary, or the chance to release a simple Greatest Hits Volume 2, or to stream an unreleased concert as a Covid relief fundraiser (or even an exclusive event for the ticket holders who have to wait another year)…. Meanwhile, all we got was some previously released videos uploaded on YouTube (that really ought to have been there anyway) and some new tee-shirts in her boutique!

 

I just wonder what the “causal” fan thinks about Céline going AWOL for a year and a half, while AEG holds onto their ticket money for 2+ years in the middle of a pandemic… Do they really care if she goes to the Met Gala a few weeks before her new Vegas shows start?

 

The issue isn’t as much about Covid safety (See: other artists who have resumed their tours) but rather the conflict of her new contract. Resorts World can’t wait, but the fans across the world can wait another year… or two… or whatever. Priorities!

 

Of course I’m going to the premiere in Vegas, but I don’t really care what she does in her free time anymore. I don’t even expect great things from her new residency - that way at least I can manage to leave some space to be surprised in the event they add a new/rare song to her setlist. All I want to do is hand her team my business card and tell them to call me if they want some tips on how to please her old fans.

Other artists are doing so much on their anniversaries (comparitively at least).

Lyrical videos could have been a very important and big step for her streaming performance.

It would just be nice if we could get an interesting/competent/informed journalist to ask Celine these questions. It is so rare to actually get a good, in-depth interview on her life or her thoughts and choices.

 

For example, almost every celebrity on the planet talked about Trump in one way or another. Celine barely ever said a word. I get it, it's politics and she doesn't want to talk about it....but c'mon now?! Nearly every celebrity or singer she ever worked with or met said something. As for the money, if she is all about money....where is the bang for the buck? I see Beyonce and Jay Z going on holiday in Italy, and our dear Celine is just sitting in Vegas buying shoes online all the time?

 

If it's all about money, I really think she could enjoy her life more and spend her money in a more fabulous way. For her own enjoyment.

My point is...she IS being extravagant. Celine probably pays WAY more than $5,000 for a pair of shoes. If you're talking Prada, Gucci, Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana, you're talking about $10,000-$15,000 for a pair of shoes. Also, all of those Fashion Week street looks? Those clothes aren't given to her for free. She pays a stylist who BUYS the clothing that she wears using her money. Celine is extremely extravagant in spending the money. On clothes. She gets to travel the world on tour so you're not going to see her taking a vacation and spending the money. She also owns her own plane and has to pay for the gas for that and the pilots and the crew. She has a private chef, servants, etc. All of this is Celine spending her money.
