fred Posted August 7, 2019 at 11:41 PM Posted August 7, 2019 at 11:41 PM Indeed those were MARVELLOUS! Immortality - love it when she uses her nasality this way, gives it a magical feel and a ca 1998 flashback - love how she used her voice back then. And I am amazed at her walking those steps in THOSE HEELS while singing. All The Way - Wonderful, wonderful performance. Love the little crack in the last belting. But perhaps the perfectionist Céline doesn't like it, but to me it added soul and let her emotions through in a way that a "perfect" belt wouldn't. Prefer this Orchestra way more over the one she's been using. Why is it so? This sounds much more classy and not so dated even though it's wonderfully old fashioned. Is this bigger than hers? she did a marvelous job for the bee gees tribute and a very touching job at the frank sinatra tribute. 2 Quote Peace and love to all.
fred Posted August 7, 2019 at 11:48 PM Posted August 7, 2019 at 11:48 PM A one off performance wouldn't "waste" her voice much if it was live in my mind. But you're probably right about her fear of the imperfections. But to me some imperfections here and there shows off her mortality and can be seen as a proof of her emotions shining through. And that doesn't have to be a bad thing. This may sound weird, but I love her tiny crack in this performance: To me her best and most emotional performance of L'Amour Existe Encore. I think alot of the time at one offs and tributes thats the very very reason, she wants it to be absolutely flawless, no mess ups and perfect. Even BBMAS 2016 which she dedicated to Rene, she lipped that because she wanted it absolutely flawless. I feel she would be terrified she would get emotional and end up raspy or crack or maybe even forget a word or stumble a bit, i feel like her being the musical perfectionist she is it would kill her. Looking back ar Sep. 2016 / Oct 2016, almost every single performance she was raspy and exhausted vocally and you could tell she wasnt pleased at all, but she refused to cancel. I understand some times her lipping at specials etc. When shes half way through concert runs AND promoting a single such as she is here, its a bit flippant to "waste" your voice on that when you have a multi million dollar vegas contract and promo to do. 2 Quote Peace and love to all.
GoldenLeaf Posted August 8, 2019 at 01:25 AM Posted August 8, 2019 at 01:25 AM (edited) I get the testing. But just release it and do absolutely nothing with it, how is that testing? Guess radios adding it themselves is a good thing...and I guess the fact that the lyric video for FOMO managed to have over 52.000 likes on its own is a good thing. Of course if Celine would have performed FOMO on the BBMA, the views and likes would be way higher than what we have and now that would be real testing since the general public would be aware that Celine has a new song out. Javito Posted August 8, 2019 at 06:12 AM Posted August 8, 2019 at 06:12 AM (edited) Its a weird conspiracy for me that live english shows were never released to keep the "wow factor" a secret. To make people want to see it, if the shows were released the demand may be gone. But i dont agree with that. Id love if Copenhagen 2017 (the best set list shes done since Millennium) was released but it wasnt recorded i guess. Hyde Park was never gonna be that, it had to be prepared and thrown together in the time of a few days (yes she had a month, but give the woman some off time first half of june and then she had PFW). Jamaica Jazz and Blues she was also in the middle of a vegas leg if i recall. Whilst id LOOOVE something more, imo it just wasnt realistic. I longed so long for an english release from TCOML tour... my favorite era if im being honest, Celine Dion era was my favorite vocally, but she didnt really do a full anglophone show that era which sucks. Im hoping all this builds up to an incredible CWT set list and a great dvd and ce She also had a month from the LTAL tour (which she had been doing for way over a year) before she did the amazing Millennium Concert, so it could had been done with Hyde park aswell. Oh well... Exactly!! I don't buy at all the absolutely LAME excuse that "she only had one month off to prepare for Hyde Park show" Come on, are you frigging kidding me??? She is a singer, not a cooker! What is she supposed to do then??? If she can't find time to include a couple of new songs from her catalogue in a show that is done 1 month after Vegas, I don't know what we're talking about here. She isn't a scientist cloistered in her lab, or a lawyer working 12 hours from sunset to dawn who has to re-write a full claim overnight to meet her client's requirements or a deadline guys . You make it all sound SO ridiculous sometimes. And remember she has a full orchestra at her feet to do all the hard work to arrange a song. If this full team of people can't find the time to rehearse a couple of new songs in 4 weeks to freshen up a setlist for an exclusive show, what are they supposed to do??? Also she had ONE month off to rehearse just one or a couple of damn new songs to add to the show, do you think 1 month is so little time, really? Excuse me, but most of mortals here have just two consecutive WEEKS of vacations to take a rest from their jobs The truth is that she became so lazy when arranging a setlist and that she ALWAYS plays safe, no matter where she's singing, and they all do the minimum effort in her shows. That's the truth guys, don't try to complicate matters. Oh, poor her, she only had ONE MONTH vacation before doing this show. Poor her Really, the level of absurd and blind empathy some fans share with this woman when she just only has to stand in front of a microphone and sing and has a full team of people behind her to do all the hard work is stunning Edited August 8, 2019 at 06:22 AM by Javito 1 Quote "Hush, now... She has fullhouses everywhere she goes then why to bother about tiny hell of an expensive tickets like the ones in Hyde Park? After all these years, it all depents at Celine if she still has this fire burning inside and willing to give creative and great music/live shows.Let's not forget it's a work for her, and not an easy one. My reply was quoting you but it wasn't addressed only to you, it's a general opinion to many of the comments I've seen here excusing Celine as if she was just the normal worker with a full job 8 hours per day, 5 days a week. So no offence to you but sorry, I don't buy the excuse saying "she has no time", it's absolutely ridiculous to say that. She doesn't arrange the songs; she has a full team and a orchestra director at her will to do so. She doesn't even play any instrument on stage. Can it be more easier for her to sing all the songs she wants each time she gives a show? I'm tired of the idealisation that some fans have to Celine, when she's always playing safe and doing the minimum effort on her shows and has been offering a stale, stagnated show in Vegas for 5 consecutive years recently with barely any changes. I see buskers in the streets with way more limited means doing more dynamic shows with a much more wider repertoire than this powerhouse singer does invariably doing the same program show after show and year after year. Well i mean thats what people go to see. The set list she performed minus the prince medley and Youre The Voice is what people usually expect from a celine dion show and want to go and see. It served its purpose well for what it was. I think we forget at time, the entire fanbase celine has is not all mega fans like us who know every deep cut from her early albums and such, id say a good 95 are casual-big fans, who know her big hits and maybe a few non hits. Imo we always have to take that into consideration, we arent the majority. As much as id like her to go out and perform Just A Little Bit of Love and Have a Heart, no one except probably us 5% know or care what that is. And we need to expect that. It makes me sad because we get stuff like RTD/LIAWN, and most people used that time as bathroom break / go to the bar time. I mean, other legends of her calibur i dont think have changed their shows in upwards of 10 years at all. Even look to her 90s counterpart Mariah. Shes been performing her exact same set list since The Adventures of Mimi tour in 2006, and her fanbase don’t complain 2 Quote

It just proves to me that these people must be rich and don't really care about the concert. They were just bored and thought "oh, let's go and see Celine Dion cause she has a concert. Why not." And therefore I wouldn't even consider what songs they might want to hear from her, but focus on the real fans, cause they will definitely attend her shows at all times and they are the ones that must be satisfied. The only exception was the TCWT, where she included many of the new album songs, and the brilliant exception in the 2016 tour. That was a great tour to enjoy a fresh Celine with a renewed program. But it lasted short unfortunately. Then the rare chances to see her performing new songs are usually taken by covers (James Bond medley, Prince, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, You Are The Voice... being Imagine the last example in London, and so on). I learned to love covers because with Celine I had to admit that the only chance to see her singing new songs, most of the times, is when she includes new covers in her shows. This is sad, for a singer that has countless original songs that are precious and remain unperformed in her albums. The evidence is there: we have like 5 DVDs and live albums since 1997 where the closing songs are the same: LCMM, RDMH and MHWGO invariably. And then the same order with TPOL, IACBTMN followed by BYLM and then BATB and ABM again are there. I have stopped being a fan of her english career since years, I only care about her french albums and I have been twice in France in 2016 and 2017 to watch her perfom SISDA, ONCP, ZS, EUS. “Lazy b***h” Real nice. 2 Quote https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL54qnRGM2gMatthew Charles - "Fix You" - Live at The Stonewall InnStonewall Sensation - Season 15Originally written and performed by Coldplay

If people have this much animosity towards someone for doing what they love first and foremost.. why remain a fan? Why be on a site based around them if you clearly dislike them this much. It begs the question whos causing the problem. Celine or their own opinions 2 Quote

So bring the torches and burn me like a witch!!! I must not be on this website!!! 1 Quote Les étoiles tombent une à une. Mes émois sont de saturne.
ryba Posted August 8, 2019 at 01:50 PM Posted August 8, 2019 at 01:50 PM (edited) Besides the "b" word, I understand Moleques point though. He has been her fan for a long time and is - as many of her long time fans - just disappointed with the little effort that is put musically into everything these days. Thank you for defending me, das ist sehr lieb von dir but the "b" word is not literaly used. It is similar to "hey b..., where have you been?" while seeing your best friends. Yes, I am disappointed but I would never be a misogynistic beast and call a woman "b...", especially someone who I have been loving since 1999. 1 Quote Les étoiles tombent une à une. I didnt say you werent a fan. Simply that if you feel that level of animosity towards someone for such a petty reason, maybe a forum dedicated to said person isnt for you. But it does beg the question. If you regard her so poorly, how could you be a fan at the same time? Edited August 8, 2019 at 02:01 PM by AdrienneM Quote

Yes, I am disappointed but I would never be a misogynistic beast and call a woman "b...", especially someone who I have been loving since 1999.I know, I was sure you didn’t mean it that way. I think is quite unfair that people on this forum don’t seem to accept any form of criticism regarding Celine or her team. We all love her, but her die hard, long time fans who know her career so well just cannot cope with the fact that things got this lazy and bad, and the others here should respect these opinions. 1 Quote

If you regard her so poorly, how could you be a fan at the same time? Who told you I regard her so poorly? And why do you judge my relationship with Celine based on my posts? Some fans here should stop taking our posts or our words, put them in the fan-o-meter to define if we are adequate fans or not. If we are under 20%, we should get the hell outta here, right? 2 Quote Les étoiles tombent une à une. Mes émois sont de saturne.
