Who does the promotion? Sony or Celine's team? like doing a TV spot, Putting banner on iTunes as a new song/single, and on spotify etc. If I'm the manager of Celine all social accounts will have a banner of Celine's new single even GRINDR, TINDR. And what difference did it made? Ashes is probably more current and radio friendly than FOMO but radios didn't play it despite being soundtrack of a box office hit movie. Radios don't need to wait for anybody to send them songs, they also chose what to play. Of course Sony will try with the actual first single, paying as they did with LMBTL but keep your expectations low, a radio hit won't happen.

 

They better focus on trying to get her on the main Spotify playlists and other streaming platforms.

in this case i am okay with the beautiful lyric video and i think this song screams summer! it could be a huge hit and i am sure the canal pride in Amsterdam will have the song too. A fresh summervibe with Celine’s soaring vocals. Very radiofriendly!

I’d say..gone with the new strategy and send this songs to radiostations everywhere! The song is so uplifting...please Team Celine .,do something..you have gold in your hands!

This is very confusing to me. The song is part of the album and the first one to be released but its not the first official single? Wtf!

The new trend is releasing a buzz single... I find it a bit strange but it seems like a test record companies do. Shallow is a soundtrack for a popular movie and sang by a main artist, any thing can go top 10 nowadays if it’s a soundtrack (and don’t come with Ashes cause that’s an outdated ballad)... if Shallow was a random song on “Joanne” it would flop as hard as the album... there’s a reason why almost ALL reviews Ashes got associated it with “90s music”, the inverse of what’s happening with fomo

 

Shallow isn’t even a spontaneous #1, Gaga had to make a big drama at the Oscars so it could go #1 for ONE week, because of the award she got rather than the song itself

Adele is STILL a mammoth artist, hasnt released in years and is a ballad artist 100%. Name me ONE EDM song which was a hit after 2013. You cant, even DJ’s are creating RnB mixes and mixes of ballads. FOMO is not even close to what people are putting out now. Youre trashing Shallow and yet its sold *millions* in the streaming era and after 38 weeks is STILL in the top 40

It's quite obvious her team wants her to screw up musically. Even if this isn't a 100% great track (my opinion) it's still "good enough" (not many of her singles since IDAN has been that) to try on the charts.

 

Even if it's a really nice gift for the fans (THANK YOU!!) it could be more. Not making this an official single is just as stupid as not releasing IS and SFL as singles from ANDHC instead of GBTSW.

 

I really hope that the next "single" wont be the one we heard in the Carpool Karaoke, coz that song did nothing for me.

 

WHAT is wrong with them?!?

 

Does it take a lot of effort to send a song to the radio?! Or money? What is it?!

 

Let me guess, the 2nd single or the first just the way you want to see it.

Is a Sia ballad semi uptempo somewhere in between that is so so.

LMAAAAO, ALL of them are EDM and produced by edm DJs, and for the record, edm is also known as dance-music (doesn’t change the fact you can see EDM on their wiki page), isn’t it weird how you’re required to cite specific artists who are only known for ballads unlike me who cited plenty different artists? No one associates ballads with modern music and there’s a reason why people weren’t choked with Ashes despite the praise it got

EDM stands for Electronic Dance Music, So it's everything from Chill-Out , Nu-Disco, to Trance or Tropical House. FOMO stands more on the Electro House it wants to borrow from Guetta and yes all those songs are EDM.
