Should have been a one time only in Australia. It has stayed far too long.

I love her voice on the songs, but she is so left field with her choices.

"You're The Voice" and then "Wicked Game" ... even "Water and a Flame" ..... like where do these comes from lol.

There are many songs in LTAL album that she never sang live before like

- Where Is The Love

- Why Oh Why - Maybe part of a medley

- Us

- When I Need You

- Miles To Go (Before I Sleep)

- Love Is On The Way

and I want to hear her sing again with her current vocals “Let’s Talk About Love”. :)

Maybe some of them could come up in Text For You

I love that she chooses songs that are so different and unpredictable. And usually it’s very good songs that she performs very well, some ending up as highlights of the show.

“Love is on the Way” was performed quite a bit in 1998 but I agree, LTAL is one of my favorite albums and I would love to hear her perform more of its songs nowadays. The title track would be beautiful. Imagine if it replaced “Imagine”!

cheesy song reputation? lol adding this Céline Dion song is much better than adding a cover :)

Quite the opposite. I’d much rather have an entire concert of covers than have to suffer through ILY.

Why this constant hostility towards Céline performing covers? Can she not perform both her own songs and ones from other artists? It’s as if they’re at war and she has to make a choice. She’s not betraying her own repertoire by doing covers. There are many amazing songs out there done by other artists which Céline can perform and create spectacular moments in her shows. Let’s also not forget that many of Céline’s hits are covers and, in fact, barely any of the songs she has recorded over the past 40 years are actually written by her, they’re someone else’s creation anyway.

Also, scielle’s comment specifically mentioned “I Love You”, a song which I would trade in for a bunch of (good) covers as well. No need to generalize.

Yeah, no need

I love that she chooses songs that are so different and unpredictable. And usually it’s very good songs that she performs very well, some ending up as highlights of the show.

I usually love them on their own, they are just so random and disparate from each other. And then when you try to put them in a show together or on a playlist, then that has the potential to make it a lot less smooth. Like having "How Do You Keep the Music Playing" or "Overjoyed' in the same show as "You're the Voice" ...

Or, a random cover can be great as a one-off, but shouldn't be over-done.

It's ok if it's an echo or reverbs so her voice will not sound dry. But using an autotune. That's a no no. I guess humberto is not so good anymore.

Yes this autotune thing destroyed her lovely raw vocals, I really hope they will stop doing this.

I think she needs to sing more of her own songs than sing covers. There are so many songs of hers that’s more beautiful and great to hear it live

And “I Love You” is one of them :)

As the other member said

“ a random cover can be great as a one-off, but shouldn't be over-done.”

Exactly. It shouldn’t be overdone

I really don’t think so. They will only tour When the whole European tour can take place. Even it would be possible in France, which won’t be the case If we look at the situation in Europe right now only three monts before the restart of the tour. Here in Holland it is expected that we will go in even stricter lockdown this week then we are in right now. Don’t get your hopes up, we will see what happens.

I don’t mind having her sing a cover during a concert, but it must be a good cover. Love of my life for example was a real highlight during the 2017 tour, and this whole idea of her walking to the middle of the arena and performing it there in the middle of the crowd, the setup, the visual effects, the guitar, everything fit together so well. And the song meant something to her.

But I hate random covers like another one bites the dust or lady marmalade. Wasted spots in the setlist. And too many of them. One good cover is fine, but not an entire medley of shitty covers.

I like quality songs, hers or otherwise. Unfortunately her English discography suffers from a dearth of them. And ILY is certainly not one.

When I saw news of Pierre Lacroix passing a few hours ago I was wondering whether Celine would post something, seeing how close she and Rene were to Pierre and Coco. (Didn't she and Rene honeymoon at the Lacroix property in Fiji, or something like that?)

Sure enough, didn't take her long. Goes to show she can get things out there on social media in short order, if she wants to... through whoever runs her accounts...

Must really bring this whole situation home for her, given he died of COVID.

She really did get lucky, getting away healthy back in March, when this thing was spreading like unchecked wildfire in NYC as she was still hugging, shaking hands, signing autographs for hundreds of people in Brooklyn and NJ.

Interesting bit in this obit: https://theathletic.com/news/pierre-lacroix-avalanche-passes-away/atu6vhe9sFVG

"Lacroix was recognized as an excellent negotiator and we could argue that he was the sports equivalent of what René Angélil (the late husband and agent of Celine Dion) was in the entertainment business before he decided to switch to the other side of the table."

Hadn't heard of this person before. Maybe he is the second most famous Quebecer after Celine?

RIP to him.

I have heard so many times people bashing I Love You, and they all were native speakers.

For me, the lyrics are beautiful!

I love this song, and I would love Celine to perform it live.

What was interesting is that I saw this news not long after I finished Rene's biography. One of the last chapters qas about his cancer in 1999 and how Pierre's family were right there with them through the order. The 2 old friends are now together again.

Pierre Lacroix was a very close friend to Rene and the family but he wasn't in music. For many years he was manager for hockey players and then in the mid 90's he became the manager for the Quebec Nordiques who became the Colorado Avalanche. If that's not something you follow then chances you'd not have heard of him.
