Courage World Tour - EU shows CANCELED

Em... That wasn't an attack, it was a plain genuine question. Whilst she sang Happy Xmas in Vegas in december 2004. Adding to my ongoing statement about Celine only performing already sung songs in her sets.

 

I predicted she'd sing Happy Xmas or The Christmas Song. Am I psychic? Way more intelligent than everyone one else? Or is it just a logical bet for someone knowing about Celine's career choices?

 

I'm sure the 'general audience' liked it. But 'die hard fans', even if they like it which they have every right to, and I don't blame them for that, can't say it's an unsung song; they can't say finishing a setlist with an acoustic laid back track is new, as some said here, since she does it for two years now.

 

But sorry for disturbing you from your ivory tower.

I get your frustration.. Even though this song works for this time of the year. plus I think the reason we all love this is also because everything that is different in this too familiar setlist is welcome! Yes it could have been a courage song but she just does not have the courage to say - this is my great new album and yes I will do the regular hits but also healthy portion of new songs! As a closer of the concert I get imagine and I get the Christmas song - which she sang beautifully - that is for sure

Yes but 1) she always struggled to hit the “hear you” note. It didn’t sound good and she knew it and apparently she didn’t want to record a track for it

 

2) LD might be one of the first 3 tracks released but it’s Imperfections that has been doing well in the states. So she, very smartly, switched to singing that song.

 

LD will probably come back to the set list (with a track she can lip to for the chorus) in the UK where LD seemed to take off more.

The struggle in "hear you" didn't bother me. It could emulate the rage the song expresses.

Maybe she should sing the whole line with a raspy grain, as a singing choice (since she does it in other songs in a little album she released years ago called Courage), so that this note would fit right in and goes along with the song.

 

Or yes, lip it, what's one more lip line?

I don't get it either. I have a feeling though you will hear it when she gets to your neck of the woods. It's still my top 3.

It was kind of confusing, you said "In Bufalo she added "Flying On My Own" to the medley but skipped it"

 

The point is, she is not performing flying on my own anyway...

 

She did the song in Bufalo but I went to the next show in Albany where she skipped it. Like I said, I guess it didn't work out the way they wanted. So now since she's done several shows since Bufalo it can be assumed she won't be doing it in the medley again, but we did not know this when I wrote the post. I hope that explains it a little better, sorry you got confused.

Did you go to both shows in Toronto? On setlist.com they have the setlist for the 9th but not the 10th. I'd assume it was the same for both nights but it's nice to have it all listed there. So if you went and you have time, could you post the setlist for the 10th on there?

Oh that's interesting. I guess these sites aren't as accurate as hoped. The original person that posted the setlist said they were there, then someone that I know was not at that show changed it taking out "Flying On My Own".

After watching The Xmas Song from Boston on Youtube all I can say it is was really neat! I prefer this over Imagine. She actually sang this one, not just "spoke her way through it". So beautiful.

 

And the song choice kinda makes sense, since it's her most streamed Christmas song. But if it was all up to me we'd also have Blue Christmas, Another Year Has Gone By thrown into the setlist, along with I Met An Angel On Christmas Day and Christmas Eve replacing the party medly. And Ave Maria instead of TP.

I only when on the 9th. The setlist was the same as Boston except that the encore was Imagine

I have one major inquiry: why do so many people keep saying that Céline is doing “Vegas on wheels again”?

 

1. The current show is nothing like the Vegas show (apart from the obvious hits, YTV and “Kiss”)

2. Céline only really did “Vegas on wheels” twice: Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival 2012 and BST Hyde Park 2019 (I’m not counting the Edison Ballroom show) People say “Vegas on wheels again” as if she’s been doing the Vegas setlist for every recent tour which is completely inaccurate as she has actually had a very different show for each tour she’s ever done since starting Vegas (TWCWT, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2018, Courage) It would be more accurate to call the Vegas show “Asia Tour without wheels” or something along those lines.

 

Also, while I’m on that topic, why were people complaining when Céline replaced the Vegas setlist with the Asia Tour setlist back in October 2018? Did people seriously prefer the old setlist which was dated and full of boring covers over a more energetic, hit-based one?
