I don't know why we are fans if we're supposed to demand / expect the same things as the general public... Well, I don’t know what to say. Surely you’ve seen other people post that a lot of veteran acts only perform 2-3 new songs. That’s certainly been my experience from the shows I’ve seen by the top tier performers. We’ve just been spoiled for so long... 1 Quote

jpatdeleon09 Posted December 3, 2019 at 06:02 AM Posted December 3, 2019 at 06:02 AM Last night’s show was disappointing in every way: 1. Setlist still only included 2 new songs despite it being her first English show after the release of the album and having promised more new songs in the Good Morning Britain interview. 2. Her voice was in pretty bad shape. The only outstanding performance was “The Prayer” and maybe LCMM. There luckily weren’t any tragic performances though. 3. She kept the corded mic which makes the show seem less modern (although I don’t hate it that much). 4. I *think* she brought back the wider pants with the stripe on the side which just look so bad on her (and look like what the band members used to wear in Vegas). She should go back to the plain black slimmer ones. Let’s hope she improves massively for the next shows. So far she has allegedly rehearsed “Change My Mind”, “Perfect Goodbye” and “Falling in Love Again” (before the Cleveland show). If she added those it would bring the show to 5 new songs and 21 songs in total. In other words, much better. Were you there in person? Quote
sarit_celine Posted December 3, 2019 at 10:09 AM Posted December 3, 2019 at 10:09 AM I was afraid to check the ending of the show, but it still there. Unrelated song -anti climax to the show. She has more 19 new songs to replace the closer song, and another #454794445 songs from her entire careerI think Pepe is giving her those advices 1 Quote "Needed in the chaos and confusion, from the plains to City HallNeeded where the proud who walk the wire are set to fall"

Popular Post Chantemoi Posted December 3, 2019 at 12:15 PM Popular Post Posted December 3, 2019 at 12:15 PM (edited) Maybe no one remembers this, but up until a few days ago I was bemoaning the setlist and the ticket prices as loudly as everyone else. Adding insult to injury, I had to resell 2 tickets (at a 50% loss) because my friends bailed. I, too, heard the rumour she was going to sing “Change My Mind” & “Perfect Goodbye” — right as I was taking my seat (I didn’t believe it, but still). Despite being disillusioned with the whole experience before it even started, I told myself “It is what it is. I’ll try to enjoy the show regardless and get some good pictures.” I’ve been to two other shows before, and gotten pretty close to the stage, but both performances had me like “Meh. I wasn’t blown away.” Then it happened last night: she blew my f**** mind away!!!! I’m serious, guys: my mind is an utterly destroyed hot mess, burnt-#ss pile of ash and rubble. All I can think about is how great she looked, sounded, and moved across the stage. She slayed every genre that lay in her path: pop/rock ballads, disco, blues, opera, John Lennon’s Imagine. Would I have rather seen her do that to her own new songs? Absolutely. Does that change the feeling I got from being there in person? Nope. I got home last night, and home just isn’t “home” when you’re not 2 rows away from the stage in front of Céline Dion. Right now I’m trying to concoct a solid plan to get me out of work early, so I can drive to Indy to see her AGAIN tonight. That’s how amazing she was!!! My advice if you’re on the fence about this show: UPGRADE YOUR TICKETS. Unless you’ve already seen her live 10+ times (then you’ll probably hate it). I dunno, in the end it all depends on how miserable you want to be. I was always one of those fans that said “She can sing the phonebook, and I’ll buy it”. This show was the ultimate test of that devotion. Edited December 3, 2019 at 12:24 PM by Chantemoi 11 Quote

And my excitement for this tour and my show remains almost non-existent as the tour progresses with her increasingly shortened setlist that I really had no specific desire to pay to hear again. Artistically and in terms of professional development, Celine's career died when she secluded herself in Vegas and convinced herself her legacy for the general public only needs to be a dozen same songs and a bunch of increasingly ever present, poorly done covers. They just got lazy, she has no interest in changing now after 17 years, and it is what it is but this isn't what keeps me checking back on new music from an artist. It's clear Celine and team only want easy money now, but I'm willing to pay less and less for each show as time goes on and it remains the same. It's a waste of money, and I'm frankly tired of most of those songs after hearing only the same dozen songs for over 20 years. I can just watch the Taking Chances World Tour or A New Day DVDs. And no, none of the other top tier veteran acts I see do this. 2 Quote

I hope you at least can cherish the memories from the previous 10+ times you’ve seen her.... There are still many fans that haven’t. Against my better judgment, I’m going to see her again tonight. This will be the last time I see her in America, unless she does a smaller “anti” tour (which I doubt will happen in this market). I won’t be recording many clips, because I’m going to dance my butt off like it’s my last Céline concert ever! 3 Quote

Especially if you’ve paid less money, and got to see flying pianos, backup dancers, and the whole shebang. You’re damn right: they’re lazy! But boy, do they still put on a show!! My one complaint about the show (setlist aside) is the awkward stage layout. I think the catwalks would’ve been better if they extended from the front of the stage, not “up the stairs and ‘round the back.” Also, the center stage is kind of sunken in when viewed from the sides. I’m beginning to think that maybe the corded mic helps her “ear problem” or something. I think there's multiple reasons: she loves it (playing with the wire etc), I've also heard she loves the sound that this particular corded mic gives in her ears and I think it's a "good luck" charm. The reason why she also uses a wireless one is more out of logistical necessity (performing with the corded mic on the catwalks and walking from the back to the front of the stage with it will give some trouble). She must REALLY love it, because she's using 2 different brands (Shure & Sennheiser, which are each other's biggest competitors), which is not making sense. Normally an artist uses one brand and stick to it (coz they have a deal with that particular brand). She has used a wireless Shure mic of the same type in the past, so I don't get why she's not using it now (but instead uses a Sennheiser wireless one). 1 Quote »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» MATHIAS ««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzPrxI0AIDY
