Last night’s show was disappointing in every way:

 

1. Setlist still only included 2 new songs despite it being her first English show after the release of the album and having promised more new songs in the Good Morning Britain interview.

 

2. Her voice was in pretty bad shape. The only outstanding performance was “The Prayer” and maybe LCMM. There luckily weren’t any tragic performances though.

 

3. She kept the corded mic which makes the show seem less modern (although I don’t hate it that much).

 

4. I *think* she brought back the wider pants with the stripe on the side which just look so bad on her (and look like what the band members used to wear in Vegas). She should go back to the plain black slimmer ones.

 

Let’s hope she improves massively for the next shows. So far she has allegedly rehearsed “Change My Mind”, “Perfect Goodbye” and “Falling in Love Again” (before the Cleveland show). If she added those it would bring the show to 5 new songs and 21 songs in total. In other words, much better.

Well if we should've learned ONE thing by now, is that rehearsed doesn't mean we'll actually see a song in the actual show.

She's been doing this for years now (they rehearsed a lot more songs for the TC tour and we got just the ones we know), she rehearsed songs like "Didn't Know Love", "Alone" and more for her Vegas show, but in the end we got what we got. We should know better.

As was I, and i noticed quite a few, some in IYAMT, one in The Prayer after the long note, one in TLBSEPT and one in ABM

 

Right, but only a select few (us fans) would have noticed or remembered those cracks. Most of the people walking out of there were amazed, not disappointed

I hope and guess that she will try new songs on stage as long as the tour developes on the road. Such a shame she's so undetermined to offer that to the attendants to the north american leg.

The arena where Celine gives her concert is 4 minutes walk from my flat. I can actually see it through my window. Only reason why I decided to keep my ticket. She will be THAT close so I would rather attend. Had I known the set-list I would have never bought a ticket. Given the circumstances I will attend half-heartedly. This is the sad truth. Not looking forward to it.

Perfect opportunity to invite her to your place after the show and save her an expensive hotel bill. Haha

Change My Mind is easily the hardest song on the album. I doubt she will sing it anytime soon as long as Lying Down is still gone.

 

As for the outfits, none of them are flattering on her. They all make her [chest area] and legs look saggy and skeletal. The bob makes her look like a little girl

The videos from the latest shows in Chicago and Montreal speak for themselves.

It seems the crowds are having the times of their lives.

Celine sounds impeccable.

And she's the #1 touring artist right now.

Despite any setlist controversy / us hardcore fans wanting more songs from her new album.

I think this tour might be....

A HUGE SUCCESS?!!

 

Go look at videos from Whitney's last tour. Or some footage of Mariah on tour.

Then maybe you'll start to see the glass half full too.

 

I have a friend who's obsessed with metal bands. He goes and sees concerts all the time.

He told me that when a band like Metallica, for instance, tours for their new albums, they usually do their greatest hits (because that's why people buy the ticket in the first place) and then they'll perform two-ish songs from their new album.

 

Regardless -- in an effort to keep her hardcore fans from feeling alienated -- I'm in total agreement that Celine should cut out songs like You're The Voice and Imagine and replace them with two more songs from Courage. I think she clings onto these because they are statement songs in her eyes.

Or she could keep YTV and Imagine and STILL add in a couple more songs from Courage.

 

At the end of the day, we just need to take a deep breath and calm down.

Audiences are clearly eating up this show and that's to be celebrated.

She's still kicking butt better than most after many MANY years of doing this.

She put out an amazing album full of fantastic songs.

I've never needed her to sing Show Some Emotion from the Celine Dion album in order to totally love the song.

Celine hit #1 despite streaming ruling the charts these days.

She is the top artist on tour right now.

So this era is a SUCCESS.

 

If she performs a couple more songs from Courage on the tour and she makes a few more TV appearances where sings a couple more songs from the album -- I'm a very happy camper. The only other thing I'm craving is some making of the album footage where we get to hear Celine talk about why she chose the songs she chose and see her recording them.

 

Let's hope that a new music video catches fire.

Or some other occurrence gives the album another big boost.

We never know what's coming our way.

I’ve seen Bon Jovi on many of their tours over the years and regardless of whether the tour was to promote a specific album or not they always sang the same old hits every time. Yes they would generally sing some new songs from said album but the old hits were always there and were expected.

 

I do hope Celine will slowly introduce a few more songs from Courage but it’s clearly not going to happen overnight as she and the band need rehearsal time and the visuals have to be worked on as well but they definitely won’t be added at the expense of these hits she’s sang a million times that just won’t happen.

Wonderfully said! I think you said what all of us knew. She sounds great, the arenas are always packed, and she is ON FIRE! But we just want the best for her, and to hear her sing her new material at the same time. I just think we don’t know exactly how to phrase it sometimes. I totally understand that there’s so much more to adding a song then Celine standing there singing. So much more. So, I look forward to this new era. What’s so wonderful is it’s JUST beginning!

They had MONTHS to rehearsal songs, by this point they should be able to perform many new songs as possible

it's a New World Wide Tour. Her band must be professionals otherwise what they are doing with her.

 

Also they came and said from the first place they found some gems on her catalog

to be added to the setlist, but maybe for a decision of the last moment they pulled it out, plus given the sad fact

I agree. She needs a manager and someone to give her constructive feedback as a matter of urgency. Her relationship with Pepe is not helping either. IMO he sees her as this flawless icon that can do no wrong, and she sees him as a pet that is there to remind her how fabulous she is.

 

He has nothing to do with the staging aspects of the tour. He dresses her, that’s about the extent of their professional relationship.

I hate to be burst the negativity here, LOL, but it's a little disheartening to come tot this forum. Celine didn't come to my city on this tour and I would of killed to see her sing these songs (yes, again, for the millionth time, but still) and folks-- as much as we want to have the new album sung live; this is the first tour in North America in over ten years. She has to hit a balance in singing the songs that the vast majority came to here. If she were to do a ton from Courage the public would get bored. Do not blast me for this. It's true. That being said, I think this tour needs a minimum of 3-4 songs from the courage album.. the two she does are beautiful but yes, she needs to add in my opinion 2 more. I think cutting the Voice would be the smartest move. And perhaps adding another new one before Imagine. Let's face it she's not removing Imagine. And at this point as much as we gripe, and for the entire life of me I cannot figure out what her love fest with Love Can Move Mountains is LOL. Flying on my Own/ Nobdy's Watching / Treat her like a Lady/ Mislead, frig; anything could go there in place of that over-done not-really-a-hit track. But i digress.

 

Back to the positive. Are we really complaining about a corded mic? For the love of God. DO you think people look and say ("Well it would of been a great show but she used a corded mic") LOL. I can't..

 

In the end Celine is enjoying herself onstage-that much is clear. She is doing a solo version of The Prayer, brought back a classic Celine hit (IYAMT) not performed in decades and is taking some chances. Need I remind you to google some Youtube videos of Whitney Houston on her last tour in support of I Look To you and see the sad state some in her league at one time let happen to themselves. Celine is a class act. not perfect, not always will do what we want but we should be proud. And not lose sleep or our minds if her voice cracks once in a while and she does not sing 8 new songs from courage 1 month into the North American tour..

I’m not a fan of a lot of the tour outfits, although I do think she looks nice in the silver jumpsuit, and the black lace number for the prayer

Also the bob is fresh and sophisticated looking. IDK what little girls you know who can afford such an expensive wig skksks. Children’s bobs don’t move like that

 

Anyway at least she isn’t wearing that horribly tacky leather top from your avatar
