browseceline Posted November 20, 2019 at 09:48 PM Posted November 20, 2019 at 09:48 PM Just because they work doesn't mean other things wouldn't work either. The fact that Celine's given almost nothing back to her fans musically via live tours and promoting the songs on the albums she wants us to buy over the last 20 years since she went to Vegas makes me less and less interested in her career and invested emotionally in her music because I'll never hear it live anyway. Because let's face it, I can check back in 3 years and it will be the same setlist that I've now heard dozens of times for decades. It's great to get that once every now and then reminder for nostalgia, but it's no longer a show I'm going to pay tons and tons to see or feel the need to see multiple times per tour. Other artists I follow not only perform their new music on a regular basis but actively try to change things up even throughout a tour because it's the long-term fans, who have supported your music, merchandise, DVDs, tours, through the good times and bad, that support a career and deserve to hear something other than the same dozen hits for 20 years. While I love Celine's personality and think she's a wonderful person, I don't get that same sense of gratitude or loyalty towards her fans that I get from any other artist I've followed long-term. If anything, she takes us for granted and only caters to the casuals, which is yes, lazy and greedy towards her long-term fans. Listening to Celine today, a casual fan would never know she has one of the most prolific music catalogs of all time. And THAT is a shame for her legacy, even if business-wise she doesn't care and makes the same money.Amen and this sums everything up as it is - Celine read this please Verstuurd vanaf mijn SM-G965F met Tapatalk 1 Quote <iframe width="640" height="390" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hl2XkxnYljg" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>
LukeD Posted November 20, 2019 at 09:50 PM Posted November 20, 2019 at 09:50 PM Most people aren’t necessarily paying for a ticket to see the Courage World Tour. They bought a ticket to see Celine Dion -- who is a bucket list, once in a lifetime opportunity for most folks. Whether we like it or not, general audiences don't want to hear songs they don't know. They want to have their one shot at hearing Celine's classics with a few fun surprises mixed in. The set list debate boils down to pleasing hardcore fans vs pleasing the masses. Only her biggest fans have followed her every move & have grown tired of a lot of these songs. But the vast majority of concert goers will be incredibly happy with the set list as is. I am not sure why you and all those who liked your post find it hard to realize that Celine can perform ALL her hits and keep the general audience happy, and at the same time properly support her new album. You say the general audience does not want to hear songs they do not know - she should then remove You Are The Voice, Tous Les Blues, and the French version of Lady Marmalade. The general public should be more familiar with Flying On My Own and Lying Down - both of which have been released as singles. All I am trying to say is that she can please BOTH the general audience and her hardcore fans. I also do not care about what most people do. I am talking about myself. I paid a ticket to attend a concert series named Courage World Tour. If Celine wants to sing her classic songs and a bunch of random covers - which has been the case for years now - she should then rename the tour to Celine Dion Live 2019. It is simple as. And I am sure the vast majority of people should expect songs from the Courage album to be performed in the Courage World Tour. This has been the case with the Taking Chances World Tour anyway. 7 Quote
sarit_celine Posted November 20, 2019 at 09:53 PM Posted November 20, 2019 at 09:53 PM I think its naive to ignore the factors I mentioned. For example, it might have cost a million dollars alone to BOOK Celine nevermind anything else (as articles before this year when they discussed getting Celine to Israel), hence WHY its so expensive. Celine, the band, the crews, the transporters, the promoter, the local authority who owns the venue... all these people need paid. So either; they get paid with "expensive" ticket prices or they dont get paid and the promoter, celine and everyone loses huge amounts of money and goes into debt... is that what you want? Sorry Adrienne, at the moment I'm pissed up the roof for all what they did with the presale here. Why can't you accept they are being greedy and it gets worst year by year, I'm not the only oneto say this, just seeing sad reality as it is. Me and my ruined, long life dream will take some break from this board for now. mirage Posted November 20, 2019 at 10:04 PM Posted November 20, 2019 at 10:04 PM It's so funny many of you just keep saying that the setlist is for the regular fans who want to hear the hits. She can still do 6-7 of them and the rest ALL courage and a few oldies. And what bothers me the most. She is tired of singing them, ALL of them. Only she tells herself she gets energy out of them because of the reaction of the audience. She keeps telling us that she in charge now, so goes to meetings, she has ideas for the show. And yet we get the same old. In this small snippet you can hear her say she is tired of all the old songs. And yet some people in her team are not listening to her and convince her to do the songs. I have a feeling that there are still a few René minded people in that team that musically keep her in the 90's. (setlist wise, production wise) Keep in mind that the 2016 tour was made with Aldo, and the preparations of the 2017 tour were also made when he was the manager. Since Dave Platel and Denis Savage are her 'managers' now, musically we went back to the old times. Javascript is not enabled OR refresh the page to viewClick here to view the Tweet 2 Quote

mirage Posted November 20, 2019 at 10:42 PM Posted November 20, 2019 at 10:42 PM Well the 6 biggest hits are in there That's enough for me haha And about the unknown songs you are right, but sometimes people need to be taught there is more than just the hits. Example the 2013 medley at Une Seule Fois, all oldies but the audience loved it. Sometimes she needs to believe in her own (older) songs and make the audience love it. If the performance and the song are good people will love it eventually I know all this is theorizing but your set-list includes way too many unknown/obscure songs. Clearly leans towards pleasing hardcore fans. It is not bad by any means though. 2 Quote

She had 4 songs released when the tour began, and she performed only 2 and a half, and now... we're still on 2 and even if we get any new song it will only probably replace the other new song so it doesn't move up from 2 songs per night. But hey, 2 new songs is enough, right? It's not like the name of the tour is Courage World Tour. Oh wait... I would like to hope she will add more songs in Europe but I'm afraid I'll only end up disappointed again. It breaks my heart as a fan to know she will never perform 90% of songs from the new album. Especially because it's such an amazing album and I like almost every song. It gives me goosebumps just to imagine her performing Change My Mind, Heart of Glass, The Chase, Nobody's Watching, The Hard Way, Perfect Goodbye, Look At Us Now... What a concert that would be. She could easily perform 10 songs from Courage and still there would be 10 empty spots for all the hits. I don't even mind You're the Voice cause she obviously likes it so much and it works seeing it live but that covers medley and ending the show with Imagine is in my opinion the worst last segment on any tour she ever had. 5 Quote

We don’t know that.. but if they released the album first before touring.. i think it would make a difference. They can’t just include songs without releasing it on public. That’s why on movie soundtracks they release it first before showing the movie to the public so they will know it. So, what we have now is the fixed setlist. They already made visuals for certain songs like “You’re The Voice”, etc. Look at the visuals for Imperfections, it looks rushed. They now include that because they now know that people liked it. So, they should release the album first so they will know what the public wants and they can include that. Lying Down and Courage was the first one to be included from the setlist maybe because i think it has more views than Imperfections before.. now, Imperfection is getting a lot more views and they loved it. Also, Of course Courage will be included it’s the title of the Tour lol I hope with her next album, release the album first then, after 3-4 months start the tour like they did back in TC era Edited November 21, 2019 at 10:10 AM by jpatdeleon09 Quote

I think "Courage" would be by far the best ending. It's slow, works in an intimate set and would also sum up the whole show nicely. I think some of the songs on the setlist are placed in very strange sets. I also think "Flying on My Own" would be the best opening as it's uptempo, fresh and new.
