This has probably been discussed before, but: Whatever happened to Patrick Angélil? When did he leave TC (he was still there right after René's death, but was he present for the 2016 tour?)

Was there ever a reason given for his departure?

Back when Aldo was her Manager. Patrick was nowhere to be found like after the death of his dad. He left the team… Edited by jpatdeleon09

There must have been a real turmoil after Rene passed

I've finished reading the book that's part of the interminable series of perfectly useless Céline biographies ("Dis-moi, Céline" by Laurence Catinot-Crost). A work as voluminous as it is painstaking, reciting for the umpteenth time the rosy fairy tale in its official version, dull as a bedtime story and, what's more, written in a style as lame (most sentences start with "She") as it is pretentious (that unbearable way of starting each chapter with an aphorism...). LCC - though a writer? historian? ethnologist? - brings nothing personal or original to the story told a thousand times. What's the point of rewriting the star's "official biography" without being her official biographer?

And yet, there's an abundance of quotations (80% of content) and some of Céline's words, reread in the new context of 2023, moved me. Here are three of them:

(1991)

"What scares me is the thought that I might end my days alone because I didn't have a life like everyone else. Sometimes I think that my life is so wonderful and I'm living such beautiful things that one day life will balance it all out and something sad or trying will happen to me. I'm afraid that life will punish me for having so many beautiful moments. I don't want to find myself twenty years from now, all alone in a big house, rocking by a window."

(2000)

"I wanted to live my life as it presented itself to me, not as I had imagined it. It's life that counts and decides, not the dream."

(2012)

"To those who tell me they want to put their career first, I say no: let your career be your passion, but not your identity. You can't reduce yourself to your career; you're better than that."

She's always been so wise.

Yeah, her only problem is the lack of all that scholastic/academic apparatus without which nerds so often take her for stupid or naive. But she's the one who takes over: her raw wisdom is still wisdom, while their lexical weaponry often conceals emptiness.

OMG! My account finally got approved! Yay!! lol

To make a long story short  I'm fairly new to her world and have been reading a lot of this forum when I can for around more than a year now. I have only been a lurker since you guys are the experts about her and finding Céline news, but I registered because wanted to share this as I don't think I've seen it on the forum:

I believe this is later than the pap pic of her wearing the covid mask with the twins? Someone please tell me I'm actually contributing something new lol

(Hello to everyone and thank you for such a wonderful community. We are together thinking of only good things for Céline and wish for her recovery )

The picture was shared before. It's at The Hideout Recording Studio during one of the sessions of "Love Again" so it's not wrong to guess if it's after the COVID mask pic you're talking about.

Welcome to the forum, new Celiniac!

Does anyone remember the interview where Celine tells the interviewer "I'm not blind, I'm aware of everything that is going on around me."

I think it was like 2002-2005 era, but definitely I think in her first Vegas residency, filmed somewhere in the Colosseum if not on the stage.

She said that on Larry King Live in 2004. He came to the Colosseum to interview her. Here is link to the episode.

Looks like a Maria Callas biopic is being made after all -- just not with Celine  Directed by Pablo Larraín

That Jolie “news” is from Oct ‘22 (see the Callas thread).

Surprised this appears to actually be in production now though, after 15 years or so in development hell.

(I would have preferred Noomi Rapace, who was attached to it before Angie’s involvement was announced a year ago.)

I posted it because as far as I know, these are the first images to come out from the movie. And for whatever reason I couldn't find the Callas thread.

Do you have the timestamp? I clicked through and couldn't find it.

Haha I searched Google… must have been a good 15 pages down (and 15 years old!)

Good to have actual set photos, otherwise I’d never believe it’s actually happening 🙃 (Recall the Noomi version had a poster & a Cannaes announcement & all…)

Yes, I tried in vain with our notoriously faulty search function here on the forum. Maybe I just didn't scroll down far enough, but anywhooo thanks so much!

It is bittersweet that Celine is not going to play the role, but it was inevitable that someone played Maria Callas one day because her life seems destined to be portrayed on the big screen. By the two photos I saw, it seems to be the older Maria but I'll have to look into it more to see about the singing / if they portray her full lifestory from start to finish.
