Something that really bugs me is why on earth didn’t Sia offer this song to Celine? Or maybe she did as Celine was singing it during the Met Gala, but why didn’t Celine want to record it? If there is one Sia song Celine should sing, it’s this song. This should have been the lead single for Courage. With the right promo It could smash the charts around the world.

It’s not a question of “offering”. Publishing works on a compulsory license basis (meaning the songwriters must license it). Once a song is published, recorded and distributed, anyone can record it, provided the songwriters get their statutory royalties. They don’t need the copyright holder’s consent.

What are some of the moments where Celine receieved the most enthusiastic fan reaction that we have on video? Maybe fans chasing after her car, or that standing ovation in Montreal for like 10 minutes comes to mind....but what are others?

I think of the drunk lady in LV who humped her leg on stage, and I think of the nice lady from Italy who almost had an asthma attack before meeting her and they song that Italian song together backstage TTEOTW.

 

I have my own question:

 

Can anyone tell me what lyrics Celine sings at the very end of If You Asked Me To? "I'll do anything to you that you want to/just ask me to" ???

She sings it live, too - but I just can't decipher it!

I guess that Christoff guy who wrote and sang a song for Celine somewhere around 2018 during BYLM.. that's was boring and the guy had nothing to do with Celine, he just wanted people to know his song. Moreover he literally just wanted to show that he can perform and hit notes too...which was uncomfortable. I hear a fan say "no, we paid for her" to his friend.

that's a funny question, i always just chalked it up to celine doing that "beep boppy" mixing up of lyrics she sometimes does. it happens occasionally and always is a charming part about singing in her second langauge i think.

 

i think the studio version chopped some parts up and spliced it in that moment...to me it sounds like "i'll give you the last thing you want me to do"

She says "I'll give you everything you want me to do... just ask me to" - it's kind of tough to make out in the studio version, but you can hear it better in this live performance (just after the two-minute mark).

I was listening to live versions of TPOTD yesterday and I realized that Céline usually invited the crowd to sing along with her... Knowing TPOTD was only released as a single in Japan I found this a little odd. I mean YouTube wasn't a thing... so the only way for people in the states or Europe to hear it was on the radio (my understanding was it did ok on airplay charts but didn't do anything spectacular) or to have purchased the Japanese single (unlikely for her casual fans given it was the mid-90s).

 

I was pretty young in 96-97 so wondering if the song was really big enough that people would have known the lyrics well enough to sing along?

It was probably a bit much to expect audiences to know the lyrics to The Power Of The Dream, but at the same time the song had one of the biggest international exposures possible given its performance at the Olympics. It was also released as a b-side to It's All Coming Back To Me Now in many markets, so it wasn't completely unknown to Céline fans who would go to her concerts - even casual ones who'd just bought the IACBTMN single. But agreed, of all the tracks to which people might have known the lyrics, it wasn't one of the top ones.

 

Also, while YouTube obviously made distribution and availability so much easier, the internet did exist beforehand... :D

I heard "Imperfections" as I was getting my lunch at Publix about an hour ago. I was very excited to hear one Celine's new songs on the loud speaker. :)

I heard Flying on My Own on mother's day in a store. I've also walked into the same FedEx on two separate occasions and heard Loved Me Back to Life and Incredible.

 

It's a lot of fun to hear her newer music randomly playing.

When asked by a fan in the comments if the band is starting rehearsals this summer or in the fall, he responded “Don’t know yet…”

This shows they were looking forward to CWT to happen. Because they might be preparing for it before they planned its cancellation.

This week Billboard named Max Martin as the Greatest Producer of the 21st Century… so far.

This morning Max posted a statement on his Instagram:

“The vocals are always my main concern. As a producer, I’m very present whenever we record the vocal track. Some producers will let technicians handle that part, while they themselves chill out on the couch. But I like to be there myself, handling everything on the computer myself. I want to know exactly what went on, and be able to recall it all.”

 

Then he tagged #celinedion amongst the other top celebs he’s worked with (Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, BSB, Britney, The Weeknd, P!nk and Ariana Grande). It’s nice he hasn’t forgotten Céline, since everyone else has overlooked their work together (including Billboard in their original post). I’ll once again repeat how much I’d love them to collaborate again on her next album. 🤞

Dee, the lady whom she tags as the photographer with a ton of her photos shared to social media. I think she doubles as assistant and friend. Or maybe she's not a hair stylist and just a stylist, I forget atm

I think she was talking about a regular party, probably an exclusive in London. She woulda said "concert" if she was talking about her concert.

 

I bet there are a good amount of photos out there on celebrities or people's phones with Celine at private parties, homes, or events that we will never see lol.

Nah, she’s talking about the BST show. She never uses the word “concert”. If anything, it’s “show”. But given the context and timing of this interview, I have no doubt she’s talking about the London Hyde Park gig.

She was in Europe doing promotion for her beauty line and I have no doubt she's talking about a company party for beauty industry professionals, celebs, influencers, etc.. If you see the whole interiew she did with Sarah (that's the Sunday Times journalist), they got on very well so Celine was probably wanting to see if she was gonna get to see her at a social function. You can tell by the tone that Celine's taking with her voice that it's a more private thing. That's why the interviewer asked her company partner off camera whether she was going to be going i.e. on the list and booked.

 

To call it a show, yeah, but Celine would never say party to describe her gig. This was a solid 3 months before the Hyde Park concert.

Nah, disagree. I’m certain she’s talking about her BST show, precisely because of the context & the entirety of that interview.

 

Anyway, happy Olympics opening day. The official Olympic account posted this a few hours ago. (Though you’ve got to wonder how they, of all accounts, would get the year wrong!)

I’m still in awe of Joannie winning bronze just days after the sudden death of her mom. This was a tribute to her at the medalist exhibition.

I don't know it might sound stupid.

I agree with CWT messing up their schedule. They probably planned on rehearsals after the tour dates, etc but now may move it up.

 

I'd be willing to bet a good bit of the show is already planned. And I'd imagine they all have stuff to practice on their own but nothing all together in person yet.

the interview has nothing to do nor mention of her concert. i'm pretty sure they're recording in paris. i feel like you're implying that celine's level of english is so poor that she would use party incorrectly. if it was about the BST show then she wouldn't have had to ask her work colleague if she was going. not sure why a newspaper would pay a beauty columnist to go a BST show....
