I love how they use the word "performing" instead of "singing." (Because she's lipping it.)

Is performing a bad word or you just want to say it because she was lipping?

Because performing doesn’t mean she’s lipping it.

I remember back in 2007 Oscars. The host said performing but she’s singing LIVE

She definitely lipped the 1996 Olympics. I just think it’s interesting that they use the word “performing” instead of “singing” because that technically means they’re not lying.

Performing automatically doesn’t mean lipping. LOL It’s like Céline Dion performing the new song I Knew I Loved You but She sang it live.

So you just want to say the obvious? LOL

All singing is performance but not all performance is singing. The point here is that through careful use of language, you can make a 100% truthful statement while simultaneously intentionally implying something other than the reality, as they did by saying “performing” instead of “singing.” Not really sure why you feel the need to get defensive or argumentative about that - the Olympics performance wasn’t live, and it’s not like we don’t already know she’s lipped many, many tracks during her career.

Because they can just say performing and not singing. As what I have said back in Oscars 2007, The host said “Performing” yet she’s singing it Live. So, I’m just saying when you see a word “performing” it doesn’t automatically says she’s lipping. Just sayin’

and it’s obvious that she’s lipping to a studio track. I didn’t deny that. What I’m focused at is the word performing. :)

She is not just singing ...she is performing..she has the pianist, a big choir holding candles on an EVENT, it's not just singing. She is on the stage performing.

I am here singing a song sitting on my bed, doesn't mean I'm performing it.

Just random thoughts

I realized that Céline can sing any genres and among the Trinity, she’s the only singer that can change her tone depends on the genre she’s singing. She adds texture to her singing, not just always a clean, smooth singing/belting, it’s not like other divas where the tone is not changing. And that’s amazing!

But nobody said that using the word "performing" meant not singing. In fact, quite the opposite - it's the use of the word "performing" that allowed them to intimate that she was singing live - without lying - because it doesn't preclude her doing so and people who don't know better can make the assumption that she's singing live. But it can also mean just putting on a performance, as opposed to saying "singing" which would have been a flat-out lie.

only? :)

Performing is the most used word. So, I’m just saying it doesn’t mean when they say “hear to perform or performing this…” means she’s lipping it.

you are saying like when you see the word performing. That’s it. It’s lipped. The end.

It amazes me how some people can’t understand a simple comment and turn it into a huge thing and argue something different. It’s like reading two completely different conversations. As I said before…talk about drama!

Nobody is saying any such thing except for you.

And it seems you’re intent on digging a deeper and deeper hole just to show how badly you’ve missed the point.

Why so committed to creating some kind of controversy where there is none?

Talking about drama.. isn’t that for….

The only “point” you have to make is to create drama and discord. Everyone knows that. You don’t need four years —or even four weeks— on the forum to know that.”

well, couldawouldashoulda is implying that. He saw the word performing = lipped. I’m just saying when they said “performing or here to perform” doesn’t mean she’s lipping it. Anyways, this just going circles…

he just probably wants to say it was lipped. End of story. :)

This is literally the exact opposite of what has been said. I’m really not sure what’s causing your lack of comprehension - three people have been very clear in articulating their point, and you continue to insist the opposite.

That's always been their modus operandi. Better to just move the conversation along with someone else. Let us dare not bring back up the MHWGO demo!

Does anyone remember when/where Celine has told the story of how when recording Unison album she misunderstood David Foster and thought he had called her a b***h?

I think she told the story 1-3 times but I can't locate it.

I think it was in the interviews that were part of the Unison behind the scenes video (there was an hour-longish VHS released with the Unison album, I think). But they’ve both told the story a few different times throughout the years. I think David Foster may have told it in interviews for the Lifetime Intimate Portrait show from 1996? Hard to remember, but I’ve definitely heard both of them tell that story.

Something that really bugs me is why on earth didn’t Sia offer this song to Celine? Or maybe she did as Celine was singing it during the Met Gala, but why didn’t Celine want to record it? If there is one Sia song Celine should sing, it’s this song. This should have been the lead single for Courage. With the right promo It could smash the charts around the world.

what are your opinions?

instead it went to her ( sorry, but I don’t even know her). How is that possible?
