So after 2000 she danced a lot less. I feel like besides FIY with Pepe, it hasn't been "dancing dancing" since I Wish...haven't seen all of the performances from the 90s you mentioned.

 

I'm trying to think of a moment where she danced in sync with the people behind her, to the same choreography. I think it was done in I Wish, but I'm talking Janet Jackson style...of course not to that level!!!

Man, I just found this and it think that this song was just meant for Celine. Just imagine her majestic belting with some crazy reverb. This song is a masterpiece and I get chills just listening to it. I would love it if Celine did a full Sia album. This would be some real quality music. She wrote her songs and yet she opted for other single choices. I don’t understand their logic. I think Celine should have fighted for this song to be on her album. Instead it was given to an unknown singer called Marina and her production just made the song terrible.

Personally I'm glad Celine didn't record that song - which is so so to me.

And as we know, she would have tried to sound like Sia, and we don't really need more of that. :P

When did Celine get her first in-ear monitor for singing? When do we see her first perform with one live? I learned, to my shock, that they weren't super available until the mid 1990s. 1995 is when they first started to get perfected, before that they were very expensive.

 

 

I remember famously in 2004 at the Grammys she took hers out because of audio problems.

That's the video that made me have all these questions about Celine. I thought she would have used them in the 1980s too, like for Eurovision for example, but apparently they were not at all common.

Exactly. If it was available somewhere in the world, Céline surely had it, no matter how expensive or hard to find it was.

I don't think she had them until the 90's either. There are a couple of clips out there where she's having trouble with her "ears" and she's trying to describe the "things" at the the front of the stage. If I can find the clip I'll post it.

In the OOR performance on the Jay Leno Late Show (1994) you can clearly see an ear monitor in her ear.

But maybe she has used it earlier.
