I agree with you. Madonna sold a lot of singles (or 45) and albums. Celine sold a lot of albums and maybe less singles except in France. Barbra is another era. She's not as famous in Europe as she is in the US. She's a talented actress.

 

Well in France Barbra is extremely popular. And in the UK. Don’t know about other countries

I know it's a couple days after thanksgiving but I just wanted to take a second to say I'm thankful I've had this community to be apart of for now 12 years...it's insane! We may not all agree always but it's great to be apart of. Plus y'all don't get as rattled as the fb group lolol.

oh lordddddd do not even get me started on that group on facebook... it is a TOTAL MESS to put it nicely!! that is why i had to leave it after only a few months on it, i had enough of the bullsh*t!!

 

when it was started, i had thought it was supposed to be UPDATES FROM TEAM CELINE & that is why they had created it to begin with... but there have been zero updates from celines team, & instead there are pretty much nothing but petty catfights from other celine fans, including really foul language against anybody who dares to disagree with their opinions!! @ least here on this forum, we can agree & disagree on alot of things but still be KIND & CIVIL to each other (well most of you anyway, there have been a few exceptions lol, but for the most part YOU ALL ARE GREAT!!) 😊❤

Oh trust me i enjoy getting underneath people's skin in that group. Im constantly arguing with someone on there and im not as nice there as i am here lol.

Yea. It's full of super casuals who don't even know a song beyond my love essential collection and yell at everyone who tries to provide logic or express disappointment. Lol. Some lady was accusing me and tim of not being real fans. Lol hysterical..

Let me disagree with you on this. She's not extremely popular in France. She's a name that people know, especially older people but not many young people. Her concert in Paris-Bercy was cancelled for lack of sales (whereas Céline can sell out 7 Paris-Bercy). Her concert in Nice where she could also attract Italians was also cancelled for the same reason. You see the charts and well, she does not chart as well. "Walls" was 91 (best position). Encore's best position was 66. Partners was 47. What Matters Most was 103. She's definitely more popular in the UK where all these albums made the top 10.

Her latest gold record dates back to 2002 and that was for her greatest hit record.

What I mean was with older generations...which means she will able to sell out a venue but not get incredible sales. At this point, she's probably a bit forgotten...but 90s or 2000s she could sell out capital cities. Berlin, Paris, Zurich, Vienna, London.

 

To me, that is great popularity. Especially for her, as she is a unique case, she never toured or really promoted there for decades, so to see that was amazing. The reception she got in Paris in 2007 was insane.

 

But yeah I shouldn't say extremely popular, as I wasn't indicating she is on Celine's level. But that's different because it's Celine and Celine speaks French.
