She won't sell more music or get more fans even if she shares that story. Who cares about more traffic really. :hmm:

Suddenly now you care whether it impacts fan growth or not 😂😂😂

It’s not about one post, it’s about a social media strategy snd presence that is sustained that, yes, can get new followers, new interest, new buzz, and thereby attract new opportunities.

Just like Celine’s fashion celinaissance changed her public image and garnered her new fans. She seemed cooler, and I am sure that to more people being reminded of her or finding her—-more streams, more ticket sales, more interest in her new album Courage. It’s not just about one post.

She doesn't need any of that to sell more tickets. Yes, the celinaissance helped her public image but that guy changing his name to Celine Dion won't help her public image. That was the whole point why I said Team Celine shouldn't retweet that story.

So, according to you, when and what should come out of Celine's twitter account?

Social media has a role in the lives of all modern day musical artists. So they have to use it well. Good content increases her followers and user engagement.

It's a fun story, it's definitely not going to tarnish her image. Are you blind? The story has gotten news coverage all over the world.

Exactly, it got news coverage all over the world so Celine doesn't need to repeat it.

It is crazy to me that so many newer celebrities get more likes on their posts than a legend like Celine Dion. And it boils down to engagement. Celine’s social media, unfortunately, is a snoozefest. Even when she’s not on a break.

I always try to talk myself into... “Celine’s a legend. Her concerts will sell out regardless. Other artists have to play the social media game in order to stay relevant. But Celine doesn’t need to be tapped into social media.” But honestly, that’s just not true. In order for her light to keep on shining, her team has to figure this out or she will be left behind.

Luckily, we’ve seen her make huge splashes with fashion moments on social media. Now her team just needs to figure out how to highlight her MUSIC and accomplishments — and, most importantly, get the general public excited to check out her social media content. It should feel fresh. Whereas now it feels distanced and stuffy.

This story has gotten so much traction around the world, in multiple languages. Would be a shame for her team to not even acknowledge it. It’s a free viral moment. Use it! But alas, her team hasn’t figured out engagement. “Distanced and stuffy” indeed. Instead of plugging into the zeitgeist on something like this, they’ll post some ridiculous, embarrassing quiz on IG.

Fingers crossed her team engages in this.

The clock is ticking fast.

Left behind by whom? By the people who look at the number of likes? Why care so much about likes?

There are artists on social media who do play the game and they are still irrelevant.

It’s less about likes and more so about staying relevant. If a celebrity posts a photo and it gets a low number of likes, many people interpret that as though that particular celebrity / artist isn’t relevant or “hot” at the moment.

It’s important to stay on peoples minds. And social media is an easy way to do that. Celine doesn’t have to come across as desperate — but even Barbra Streisand is often more engaged in social media than her.

Because Celine content doesn’t regularly circulate on social media very frequently, people (especially younger people) consider them as out of touch / has been artists.

You are probably the one person worse than Celine’s team at social media.

Let's just say that I totally understand Celine's point of view towards social media. Everyone can have their opinion as the critics always say here? :D

Do we know where Celine currently is? Is she still chilling in Quebeck separated from RC, or is she back in LV?

“As of Tuesday morning, Dodd’s account was offline for violating its rules. The 30-year-old bar manager had changed the name displayed on his account to “Celine Dion" and, according to Twitter, users are not permitted to "impersonate individuals ... in a manner that is intended to or does mislead, confuse, or deceive others."

This whole thing is the dumbest story. "I got drunk and legally changed my name to Celine Dion" = "I legally changed my name to Celine Dion to get lots of attention and media likes." This guy has already milked this thing longer than the media should've let him. I hope her team continues to just ignore it.

Yeah, that’s why she has her team do it. You’re probably closer to her age, so that would make sense.

I’m curious about this too!

Are you ageist? :lmao:

Imagine if Celine had retweeted that story from the guy who got banned from Twitter for impersonating Celine! :giggle:

I think we should leave the social media strategy to people who actually use it!

I can’t take anyone seriously in their career advice for Celine who is okay with her ignoring social media or doing it badly. These companies have been around for 15 years now. Half of Celine’s English career.

And his getting banned is just a funny ending to the saga. It’s really not that serious, he is obviously a fan! Lighten up!

Posting a few funny jokes and replied to this story would have been (time has already passed now, another window closed before her team’s eyes) 100x better than the crap they are actually posting.

She was with RC for that Christmas photo which I assume was taken very recently. It didn’t look like their Vegas home so maybe RC is the one who joined them in Quebec?

I have been a Celine fan for as long as I can remember. Both French and English songs. Above all I am a fan of the person that Celine is. I believe she is the definition of a role model. Both in her private and professional life. Now that I had a little free time on my hands I decided to read her authorized biography. I had read it so many years ago and I decided to revisit it. Something called my attention this time. This part:

When he was alone, at the wheel of his car, or seated in the darkness among the crowd waiting for his wife's show to begin, he imagined what would happen to her if he died. One night, as he was speeding along the Laurentian Expressway, he heard Charles Aznavour's song "Qui?" He was bowled over. It was the story of his life, the story of a man in love with a much younger woman. They both knew that one day, he would no longer be there. What then?

I decided to check out the lirics of this song. Since I am also a Charles Aznavour fan. Like Rene, I was bowled over as well. It so represents their life and what can happen now. I just thought it was so deep and personal. I kept thinking that he probably showed this to Celine. If you consider the lirics you can imagine how deep it went. People say that she needs a new love (and by the way I agree) but.... not easy!!!!

any other good moments that stood out from the biography that you can share? Thanks!

And yes it is certainly an interesting dynamic to have a younger-older relationship....I honestly feel like Celine has never really opened up about this fully. Or maybe it really is as simple as "I never think about it" as she said. But clearly Rene thought about it.

Speaking of random questions, did Celine ever sing of meet Serge Gainsbourg?

I am surprised that now that I am reading her book again (finding myself a little bit older and wiser I believe) I am picking up on some details that I had overlooked the first time.

For example:

1- Every family has drama. Siblings will be siblings all around the world.Rich or poor.Celine's family isn't different:

So off she went to Asia, happy. Even if Rene wasn't with her. Even if, over the holidays, she discovered that there were bad feelings among her brothers and sisters. Maybe I'm an egotist, but I always dreamed of a perfectly united family who love and help each other. I always wanted to believe it, because it made me feel better. My family is my picture of the world. As long as I believed that my brothers and sisters were living together in harmony, I could imagine that peace in the world was possible. It made things easier for me. Singing love songs in a world of war and want, that takes an awful lot of energy. At Christmas, she gave each of her brothers and sisters $100,000. A few days later, the generosity she hoped to keep secret was all over the front page of Le Journal de Montreal. Someone in the family had talked. The bad blood got worse. Mia had told Celine and Rene she had a hunch someone was telling the media about the Dion family and Celine's life. It had to be someone close.

Conclusion, me fighting with my brother ,totally normal. I believe she had a good talk with 13 Dion's after that. I believe there wasn't that type of gossip ever again.

2- Celine writes Rene a letter on Valentine's day because they were apart. Of course for a man who loves gambling, cards are mentioned.

I'd love to make myself into a Queen of Hearts for the occasion.....In the sky above my bed, every night I play the silent film in black and white, where the King meets his Queen of Hearts....

I just thought that she had a cool idea. She knows her husband well!
